I have a document library on one site that contains an Excel file (Excel1.xlsx).
I have another document library in a different site with a different Excel file (Excel2.xlsx).
How can I set it so that certain cells from Excel1 are getting populated into Excel2?
I tried using a formula, but I think my syntax may be incorrect.
This is a weird one. I have some homepage views on my On-Premise sites that I target with SharePoint Groups that contain 1 or more AD groups. These are publishing sites that use a wiki homepage.
Occasionally, I get an email from QA saying that some user doesn't have visibility on the View. I 'Check Permissions' on the user to verify they are in the right group. Then I check the view and the group is there. I remove the group, and use the Browse Button to relocate the group. (If I just type it back in and use the check names button it won't work.) . This gives the user visibility on the view once again.
Has anyone encountered this issue? It seems like the User is losing their affiliation with the group. Again, this is random and doesn't seem to affect every user in the group!

Hi all, I'm looking for some assistance on a memory problem that I'm having with our Project Server/ SharePoint environment. After a recent change with a new dedicated web application for mysites, new metadata service application, new business data connection and a new search service we have been experiencing huge consumption of CPU and memory on one of our WFE.
From what i'm seeing, the system runs fine until a request hits the SharePoint - 80 Application Pool. The request, /_vti_bin/publishingservice.asmx piles up and hangs in the IIS Worker Process. It does not complete or disappears.
Some related log lines:
ProcessProductCategoryLevelMessageThe "GetSecurityChangesFromSharePoint" piles up in the log endlessly.
Recycling helps reduce the memory consumption on the Virtual Machine but will build back up to 100%. CPU is highly correlated to memory as well.
Version: 15.0.4719.1000
WFE: 64-bit, four-core (2 core 2 CPUs), 2.00 GHz per core, 20 GB RAM
Anyone have any insight or references I can review to get a better idea on how to resolve this?

We have SharePoint 2013, and we run SQL Server Reporting Services. Recently the report pages have shown "ActionsUse SHIFT+ENTER to open the menu (new window).Open Menu" instead of the normal "Actions" text. The "Help" icon has also dropped down a line, pushing the "Apply" button half-way off the bottom of the screen. When viewing the page source, it appears that something has switched the single quotes in several scripts and styles to the HTML character code (') This happens in IE, FireFox, and Chrome. I've reviewed our pages, and nothing has been changed in several years. Any ideas on where to look to debug this problem?

I have been trying to fix this for days now. I have tried solutions in many articles but to no avail. So while the error message is something you may have seen may times, I just can't find a solution in my case.
This is the error:
And in text just in case the image isn't viewable:
"External Data Refresh Failed. We cannot locate a server to load the workbook Data Model. We were unable to refresh one or more data connections in this workbook. The following connections failed to refresh: ThisWorkBookDataModel."
What is worse is I have checked the ULS (SharePoint Trace Logs), the Event Viewer Logs and the OWA Logs and I cannot find a specific error that would help pin point the problem.
Excel Workbook
So what am I doing? I have an Excel 2013 workbook and I create an "SQL Server" connection to the AdventureWorksDW database, add a pivot table and a pivot chart, test in in Excel and all works fine.
I save the Excel workbook to SharePoint 2013 and then select "Data" then "Refresh All Connections" and then I get the error in the picture above.
Even more puzzling is I have another Excel workbook that also has pivot tables and pivot charts in the AdventureWorksDW2012Multidimensional cube database in "SQL Analysis Services" and this works fine. Hmmm.
My Environment
My environment is Windows 2008 R2 Server, SharePoint 2013 with the April Service Pack1 and a separate server with OWA2013 SP1. It has an SQL Server 2008 R2 database which has been upgraded to SQL Server 2012.
Data Model Settings
In Excel Services this is set to my server name which is "server-name". As I do not have instances all I can enter is the server name. As this works everywhere else including the workbook outside of SharePoint I do not think this is the problem. But I could be wrong.
Unattended Account
I have set this up for the PowerPivot Services App and Excel Services App.
ODC Connections in Excel
I have tried all 3 authentication modes, Windows, Secure Store ID and "None" which is the unattended account. I have not tried the other connection types, should I?
Not in WOPI
I am not in WOPI mode.
AD Accounts
I have added permissions in the SharePoint Services and SQL Server, and as they work in Excel outside of SharePoint, I do not think it is a permissions issue. I could be wrong of course, but the problem is in one of SharePoint, OWA, AD, SQL Server, Excel, and Windows Server.
Isolate the Error
Below is a list of errors I think are relevant but they do not tell me much. The SharePoint logs are not really giving me an error that tells me what to do and where to do it, or even why it cannot refresh, (perhaps not noticeable by the untrained eye).
Problem with SQL Server Not Analysis Services
So my cube database in analysis services works fine in SharePoint/OWA but not the databases in sql server. This is my best clue but I have no idea what it means. Why would it work with an Analysis Services connection but not an "SQL Server" connection?
It Works Outside of SharePoint
If I run the excel worksheet outside of SharePoint all works fine. When inside OWA this is where the refresh error occurs.
Errors from Event Viewer on SharePoint Server using ULS Viewer
"Failed to create an external connection or execute a query. Provider message: There are no servers available or actively being initialized., ConnectionName: , Workbook:"
"Refresh failed for 'ThisWorkbookDataModel' in the workbook 'http://server...'. [Session: 1.V22.26itT0lx8piNFeqtuGVhN214.5.en-US5.en-US36.98c0e158-9113-46e9-850e-edda81d9ed1c1.A1.N User: 0#.w|ad\testuser1]"
And an error in the ULS under the "Data Model" category:
"--> Check Deployment Mode (server-name): Fail (Expected: SharePoint, Actual: Multidimensional)."
This last error, as it turned out, defined the problem concisely, although I was yet to work out what it meant in some detail.

I have a Server App (WIN 2012 r2 + SP2013 Enterprise) . The user profile was not working, so I delete the User profile service and configure user service profile again. After service start I created a connection with Active Directory, the sync worked perfectly. After some minutes all users administrators lost the permissions on Windows Server and all application on server stopped work. I reboot machine and I can´t login on windows. I receive the message "The User Profile Service is loading" and after 15 minutes the windows server open in black screen with green taskbar. I tried login with all user administrator but it did not work.
So, I restore VM snapshot and I tried configure user profile again and I have the same result.
There are relation Sharepoint User profile service and the windows server user profile ?

Hi all,
I have an environment with SP2013 Foundation, with only 1 Server with SQL Express.
The Farms had as well configured Forms Based Authentication, and the normal AD authentication (only one domain).
This has been working great for a long time, I has able to create Forms accounts, and grant access on SharePoint directly, as well as AD accounts.
In last days I had a requirement to include in this farm another domain (trusted domain). after all domain configuration, I needed to allow Sharepoint People picker to resolve names from this new domain. So I preformed the recommended setup: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg602075(v=office.15).aspx#Anchor_4
Problem is that after this configuration, the people picker (on permissions, or on user fields) stop resolving Forms accounts.
I checked the Web.config of all WebApplications and also of the STS service, and they all have the required configuration (Membership>Provider & RoleManager>Provider).
Imporant: the FBA is still working so this is not related with the connection to SQL, I'm able to log in with Forms account on Sharepoint, I'm also able to created, edit delete, accounts in Sharepoint (using SP FBA pack). I just can't get the people picker from resolving Forms Accounts

I am working on an Office 365 sharepoint online server. and inside the SP admin center . i found an option to Upgrade site collection/s:-
now i am not sure what do Upgrade exactly do ? now when i use to work on SP on-primes, the upgrade is done to the whole farm at once and not to selected site collections..
so does this mean that inside Office 365 i can upgrade certain site collections and leave the other on older versions ?
second question. is the upgrade similar to running the SharePoint product configuration wizard as in on-premise SP ?
Third question. how i can know the current build number for the site collection ? and the build number i will get after the upgrade ?

I am working on a SharePoint online (office 365) , then i wanted to create a new custom master page for it . so i follow these steps:-
1. I open the online site collection using SharePoint designer 2013.
2. i went to the master page folder.
3. then i copy the seatle.master page layout
4. paste it.
5. where i get a new master page named "seatle_copy(1).master"
But when i try editing the new custom master page i got this error:-
"Master page editing has been disabled for this site. Contact the site collection administrator to request permission."
now i try searching for a solution , and i find this link which talks about the same problem :-

So as mentioned on the above link, I download the SharePoint Online SDK
But i faced these 2 issues:-
1. after installing the SDK i can not locate where it have been installed,, so i am unable to open it. also during the installation wizard i was not able to select the path..
2. inside the above link , they mentioned that we need to reference some sharepoint .dll files inside the .ps1 file. , but i have install the SDK inside my PC,, so how they assume i will have the sharepoint dlls files available..as we are working online sharepoint, so how i would have the dll files for sharepoint ?
can anyone adivce on the above 2 point please?

Now a days I am getting server busy error for SHarePoint site.
In ULS logs, I can see the following error message.
"Failed to Sql Query data XEvent collector on server. The error is Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
Can anyone assist me to resolve the issue?

Hi,
I have a SharePoint list where in users can set a list item as Record (manual selection). In this list there are 2 items which were declared as records about 2 years back. Now it's time to move these records to a different list (sort of archive).
While moving these items I am getting an error -
Looking into the ULS logs referring the correlation id doesn't give any extra hint as the same error message is logged there too -
"This item cannot be updated because it is locked as read-only. "
What is holding a list Item in Read-only mode? Settings checked -
1. At site collection level; Record restrictions set to 'No Additional Restrictions' from 'Block edit and delete' (which was set previously)
2. I being Web app admin am unable to undeclare the record.
