Incoming Mail in WSS 3.0

Good Day,

We are trying to activate the incoming mail for WSS 3.0.

The settings on the Central Admin are as follows:

Settings Mode = Automatic

Directory Management Service = No

E-Mail Display = <ServerName>.<DomainName>.ph

Safe E-Mail Servers = Accept form all

We are able to configure with no problems and even set up the Document Library Settings, The problem is the when trying to send a mail to the email address, <LibraryName>.<DisplayAddress>, Nothing happens, no items appear on the library nor any error is diplayed/returned.

Is there something wrong with the Set-up or is there any way to check if there are any errors encountered as to why the library doesn't receive the mail?

How to Upgrade the MOSS 2007 Databases from SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008

Hi All

We have a Simple MOSS application using SQL Server 2005 databases [Configuration and Content].It is using Single Farm. We have recently build a new Database Server SQL Server 2008 although the old SQL Server2005 will keep on running. We want to change all the configuration and content Database from SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008[new DB server] for our MOSS 2007 web application.

Can any one provide us the steps involved in migrating the MOSS related database from SQL Server 2005 to
SQL Server 2008 ?

We used the below steps :

1)Took the complete backup of Configuration DataBase and Content Database from SQL Server 2005.
2)Restore the back on the new server i.e. SQL Server 2008.
3)Now from MOSS >> Central Admin >> Operations > Default Database Server
Updated the Database server name with the new SQL Server2008 DB instance.

But when we pressed Ok Button it is shooting an error.
Do we need to dettach the DB from the existing MOSS set up , how ?

thanks in advance
Nikhil

Upgrading SharePoint 2007 Database Server from SQL Server 2000 to 2005

Our SharePoint 2007 databases reside on our primary database server which is running SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition.  Since we plan to upgrade this database server to SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition soon I ran the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Upgrade Advisor tool.  It reported that "Column aliases in ORDER BY clause cannot be prefixed by table alias" for the following SharePoint 2007 stored procedures:

Type: Database
Database name: SharePoint_AdminContent_3e79a15f-d487-449c-9502-efb9c7fa680a
Object name: proc_GetTpPageMetaData
Object type: P

Type: Database
Database name: SharePoint_Personal_Sites
Object name: proc_GetTpPageMetaData
Object type: P

Type: Database
Database name: SharePoint_SSP_Admin
Object name: proc_GetTpPageMetaData
Object type: P

Type: Database
Database name: SharePoint_Portal
Object name: proc_GetTpPageMetaData
Object type: P

Although this may be fairly trivial to fix manually, my organization would prefer that I find a Microsoft patch / update of sorts that would tweak the SharePoint 2007 stored procedures in question to be SQL Server 2005 compliant.  Does such a patch or update exist?

Sharepoint permission issue

Hi,

Few users in sharepoint are unable to edit the documents uploaded by the same users. The users have full control on the site yet they are unable to edit the items. I have checked for the permissions through check permissions option and it shows full control. This happens quite a lot of times in a week. Do i need to apply any patch for this issue ?

Lost "Upload", "Actions", and "Settings" Buttons Within "List Template Gallery"

My company uses SharePoint 2007.  I am the owner of a SharePoint site, but I do not have much experience with SharePoint.

Under Site Actions > Site Settings, within the "List Template Gallery", there used to be 3 buttons on the left side entitled "Upload", "Actions", and "Settings".  Those buttons are no longer present, so obvisously I've done something to remove them.

Can someone tell me how to get them back?  Any help would be most appreciated.

Hi,

We have staging environment for MOSS-2007 server, which is cloned from Production environment.

Due to having cloned from Prod, staging server Center Administration site is pointing to Production environment content database.

Now we have dedicated Content database server for staging environment, which is restored from Production and we want to make staging environment point to this new dedicated Staging content database server.

Hence please help me if any one came across this scenario with possible solutions to point Staging environment to specific content database server?

Thanks & Regards,

Export/Import a WSS 2.0 site

We have one SharePoint environment which is still WSS 2.0.  I need to take one site and take a backup of it and then restore it as a new site (take a 2010 site and restore it as a new 2011 site).  When importing, the new site should retain all the content and permissions as the existing site.  I cannot use stsadm backup/restore since it is not a top level site.  I also cannot use stsadm import/export since that is for WSS 3.0.

How can I accomplish this?

EDIT - One last note - we cannot save the site as a template as we would need to use the "Include content" option and the site is too large for that

Not Receiving Incoming Email from Drop folder

$

Hello,
I hope that someone out there will be able to help me with this issue. I am fairly new to MOSS2007 but belive that I have configured e-mail to list correctly, I followed the steps set out by Steve Smith

http--www.combined-knowledge.com-Downloads-How%20to%20configure%20Email%20Enabled%20Lists%20in%20Moss2007%20RTM%20using%20Exchange%202003.pdf

The process all follows fine and when I attempt to send to a configured mail enables list I can see the mail make it to the drop folder as it should. This is where the problem occurs, it is never picked up by the Windows SharePoint Services Timer service. The e-mail's I send just sit in the drop folder and nothing is happening.

As this is a fairly simple thing to setup there isn't a great deal of troubleshooting info out there and most of it just says check the basics like making sure that in the central administration console>Incomming Mail Settings the drop folder is specified as C:\inetpub\mailroot\drop (which it is)

I've been through the event logs and those created by sharepoint but can't see anything that looks like an error causing this issue and nothing in the applications logs either. I'm in limbo at the moment because so far as I can see I have setup correctly, mail delivery is succesful and nothing to suggest what is causing the issue.

I have reset the permissions on the drop folder to grant full access to the service account that runs the Windows SharePoint Services Timer service, I have even added the Windows SharePoint Services Timer service account to the domain administrators group to try and make sure its not a permissions issue.

Any advise would be appreciated because I've ran out of idea's now!?

Thanks in advance.

Web Services for SharePoint Enterprise 2010

I have downloaded a trial version of the SharePoint Server 2010 Enterprise Client Access for validation purposes.

I see Access Web Farm Services enabled and Excel Web Farm Services enabled in the Central Admin Console but do not see Word Web Services in the features.

I have a Document Center site that I created and have verified that the SharePoint Server Enterprise Web Applications is enabled for the site and have verified that Word Automation Services Proxy is enabled.

SharePoint Server Enterprise Features is enabled on the site and I have selected Open in Browser for the document library I am working in.

Word documents still are opening in MS Word on the client.  How do I get this to open in the browser?

How to change “My Site is scheduled for deletion.. ” message Format in SharePoint 2007

Hi,

When user is Disable/Deleted from AD. Their Manager get the below Message :

Subject: The My Site of [user] is scheduled for deletion

The My Site of [user] is scheduled for deletion. As their manager you are now the temporary owner of their site. This temporary ownership gives you access to the site to copy any business-related information you might need. To access the site use this URL: http://users/personal/[user]

is it possible to add a few more words that says "it will be deleted after 30 Days" to this Message.

Please can some insider(Microsoft Employee) explain me where this Message is actually located in SharePoint and How to Modify it.

It is MOSS 2007 SP2 with 3-WFE 1-APP 1-DB Server.

SharePoint Logs Showing Unexpected Error Related to CMS/Cached Values?

$

I just took a peek at my SharePoint logs and noticed a very large number of entries similar to the following:

08/30/2011 08:23:11.47  w3wp.exe (0x276C)                        0x1BF0 CMS                            Publishing                     0 Unexpected Cached Value found.  Value is False
08/30/2011 08:23:11.47  w3wp.exe (0x276C)                        0x1BF0 CMS                            Publishing                     0 Unexpected XXX / is a descendent of / - False)

By the looks of it I see one of these for each site/subsite in the site collection, as well as individual pages, but I am unsure of what process would be going through the entire site like this.  While we have the Publishing Infrastructure site collection feature enabled (in order to make use of the enhanced navigation options), we do not use any other publishing-related features and do not have the site-level Publishing feature enabled.  The last update of any significance to the site was the June CU which I installed on 7/29.  Considering the number and type of changes in that updated, could this be related to that?

I do not recall having seen these errors before, and after searching I have not found any related information online or here in the forums.  My logs go back to 8/26 and the errors appear to go back that far as well, so I am not sure exactly when they first occurred.  There are no related entries in the Event Log.  We are using MOSS 2007 SP2.

Thanks in advance!
