SharePoint 2013 Multi-Server- Multi-Tenancy issue related to personal site

$

I have created a SharePoint 2013 Multi Tenanted Multi Server Farm. Everything is working fine except personal site.

I have query regarding this. Once I tried to run the ADD-SPSiteSubscriptionProfileConfig command I am getting below error. Also I dont know how to go to personal site. Its quite confusing to understand the personal site. In my tenant Admin page I cant edit mysite personal site managed path too (thats why I am using power shell command)

Command:
ADD-SPSiteSubscriptionProfileConfig -id "XXXXXXX" -SynchronizationOU $ouName -MySiteHostLocation "$fullTenantURL/sites/mysites" -MySiteManagedPath "sites/mysites/personal" -SiteNamingConflictResolution Resolve -ProfileServiceApplicationProxy $upaProxy.Id

Error:

ADD-SPSiteSubscriptionProfileConfig : Cannot find an SPPrefix object with Name: sites/mysites/personal

Please help.

Some steps i did:

finally I removed the -MysiteMangedPath attribute and run the command without it. In this way I can access the mysite host but personal site unable to get it there.

How to Add Master Secret Key?

$

When attempting to "Generate Key" for the "Secure Store Application" in CA, an error occurs suggesting I contact the administrator. I don't find anything in the event or SharePoint logs to explain the issue. Should I look somewhere else?

If I try from PowerShell to use Update-SPSecureStoreMasterKey the command seems to execute just fine but CA remains in the same state, requiring I generate a key. If I use Update-SPSecureStoreApplicationServerKey I am told the "master secret key is not present in the database."

Which database? How do I add the "Master secret key"? Could this be the underlining issue in CA's attempts to "generate a key"?

Do Update-SPSecureStoreMasterKey and Update-SPSecureStoreApplicationServerKey require the use of a "SecureString" like Set-SPPassPhrase as the PassPhrase?

Any other insights?

SQL Svr 2012 / SharePoint 2013 "Install-SPRSService is not recognized..."

$

Greetings --

I'm having a heck of a time trying to get Reporting Services integrated with SharePoint 2013.  The end result is that no matter what I try, I keep getting the "The term 'Install-SPRSService' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet" error which thereby prevents me from finalizing the integration with SP 2013.

Following is a description of my lab + the steps I've followed to try to resolve:

In a virtual environment with 3 machines, I have one set as the Domain Controller, one with SQL Server 2012 installed (no reporting services), one with SharePoint Server 2013.

The domain is working fine... no problems there.  SQL Server 2012 is working fine... I can connect to it locally and remotely, execute commands, etc.

On the SharePoint 2013 machine, I have tried two ways... 1) install SharePoint 2013 first, then install SQL Server requirements... 2) install SQL Server requirements first, then SharePoint 2013.

In both methods, I am installing both "Reporting Services - SharePoint" and "Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint Products" on the same machine as SharePoint Server 2013.

My understanding was that when SP is installed first, the SQL Server installation should auto-register the necessary components (meaning running Install-SPRSService and ServiceProxy are not required). However, in this scenario, this doesn't appear to have happened.  The service does not appear at all within SharePoint.  Attempting to run "Install-SPRSService" fails with the "not recognized" error.

In the second scenario (Installing SQL Server components first, then SharePoint second), it is my understanding that the "Install-SPRSService and Install-SPRSServiceProxy" must be run manually. With both SQL Server components and SharePoint 2013 successfully installed, running "Install-SPRSService" fails with the "not recognized" error.

I would also like to point out that I am executing the Install command from the "SharePoint 2013 Mangement Shell" (right clicking and running as Administrator).

Any suggestions or nuggets-of-wisdom would be GREATLY appreciated!

SkyDrive Pro Sync Problems

Hi All,

We have on-premise Sharepoint 2013 at our company and we want to use SkyDrive Pro to share files in a department.

We could succesfully added files to Sharepoint and synced to some computers. But some users have troubles with SkyDrive Pro.

First of all Skydrive stops sync without a reason. After several unsuccessfull sync try i stopped syncing library and synced agains. This time SkyDrive Pro synced it but only folders not files in folders.

This user has Site Owner rights at site that library belongs. We couldn't find any event log record too.

Do you have any idea how can we figure out the error and solve?

Any help appreciated.

Hi

I have installed a norwegian version of SharePoint 2013 and set up a farm with 2 servers.

I want to change the language to English. Do i have to reinstall SharePoint? And if so; Must I remove the Farm, SQL databases, Webapplications, sitecollections and so on before i reinstall the english version of SharePoint 2013?

There is nothing important on the Sharepoint servers, just a test system for now.

Im a bit unsure how to proceed :-o

Unable to create folders on Upgraded Document Libraries

I've completed upgrading my SharePoint 2010 environment to SharePoint 2013. No custom solutions were installed on my previous environment, and i'm noticing when users try to create a new folder in their Shared Documents Library they get the following error

"Web Parts Maintenance Page: If you have permission, you can use this page to temporarily close Web Parts or remove personal settings. For more information, contact your site administrator. "

When i look this up in the ULS logs I find a couple entries that are interestin

"Name=Request (GET:http://sp.teehub1.com/sites/Audit/Shared Documents/Forms/Upload.aspx?RootFolder=/sites/Audit/Shared Documents&Type=1&IsDlg=1)"

then:

"Reached maximum number of failed machines based on ping results for this routing group"

then:

"Mapping URI from 'http://sp.domain.com:80/sites/Audit/Shared Documents/Forms/Upload.aspx?RootFolder=%2Fsites%2FAudit%2FShared%20Documents&Type=1&IsDlg=1' to 'http://SP/sites/Audit/Shared%20Documents/Forms/Upload.aspx?RootFolder=%2Fsites%2FAudit%2FShared%20Documents&Type=1&IsDlg=1'"

i also found this entry :

Right now my workaround is to create a new SP2013 Document Libary, then move all the documents to the new library. Adding a folder then works as expected. However, this is going to be quite tedious as i have numerous amounts of libraries to transfer over.

How can i get this working without having to recreate the libraries?

Access Denied when try access $site.RootWeb.Lists over powershell remoting

I've a problem with access to every $site.RootWeb.Lists over powershell remoting.
When I try this I'm getting the following error:

Exception calling "Add" with "3" argument(s): "Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))"

Full command:

$site = Get-SPSite http://mysite

When I run powershell on the sharepoint server under the user which I also use for remoting (run as) everything works correct.
When I use the account which was used to install the farm over remoting then its also working.

The which is used for remoting is farm admin and site collection admin. When I login over the UI I can also access all stuff (including Lists).

Any ideas where I've to search the error?

Installing sharepoint 2013 database on a named instance

Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me.  I'm trying to install SharePoint 2013 but have a problem as I can't seem to install the database on a named instance.  Is it possible to install it on an instance in a cluster and if so what am I doing wrong?  On the database config screen where it asks for the database server name I have put database server\instance name, is this not correct?

The database is going on SQL2008r2 sp1 and my sharepoint servers are going to be windows 2012.

thanks

Search Preview not working for Office documents

I have a Team Site in CloudShare, "Copy of SharePoint 2013 Preview ". I am running a search in this team site. But for MS Office documents, I can not see any previews of the documents.

The version of SharePoint 2013 is : 15.0.4128.1014.

What am I missing?

Something needs to be enabled for seeing the preview. Does OWA need to be installed? Microsoft Silverlight is already installed.

SharePoint 2013 hosted apps response not using app domain SSL cert

SP2013 using host named site collections with wildcard cert (*.mydomain.com): access to various site collections i.e. site1.mydomain.com, site2.domain.com, etc. work fine. Setup for SP hosted apps using published articles (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/fp161236%28office.15%29.aspx):

# get service account and create app pools

$account=Get-SPManagedAccount"ADDOMAIN\SPAppServiceAcct"

$appPoolSubSvc=New-SPServiceApplicationPool-Name"SubscriptionSettingsAppPool"-Account$account

$appPoolAppSvc=New-SPServiceApplicationPool-Name"AppManagementAppPool"-Account$account

# create Subscription Settings Service

$appSubSvc=New-SPSubscriptionSettingsServiceApplication–ApplicationPool$appPoolSubSvc–Name"Subscription Settings Service"–DatabaseNameSP2013-SubscriptionSettings

$proxySubSvc=New-SPSubscriptionSettingsServiceApplicationProxy–ServiceApplication $appSubSvc

# Create App Management Service

$appAppSvc=New-SPAppManagementServiceApplication-ApplicationPool$appPoolAppSvc-Name"App Management Service"-DatabaseNameSP2013-AppManagement

$proxyAppSvc=New-SPAppManagementServiceApplicationProxy-ServiceApplication $appAppSvc-Name"App Management Service Proxy"

# Set app domain (dedicated domain for SPHosted Apps) and subscription name

Set-SPAppDomain-AppDomain"myapps.com"

Set-SPAppSiteSubscriptionName-Name"app"-Confirm:$false

Installed the *.mydomainapps.com as an IIS server certificate.

Can install/deploy VS2012 developed apps to developer site OK

Can install/deploy free apps from SP Store OK

When the app is called it correctly callshttps://app-appID.myapps.com/... but browser produces a certificate error: "The security certificate presented by this website was issued for a different website's address."

If you click "Continue to this website..." the app works fine. The certificate is NOT from *.myapps.com but instead is from the host SharePoint wildcard *.mydomain.com.

What am I missing?

Thanks,

Lon

Trouble installing SharePoint 2013 - Receiving Cmdlets with FeatureDependencyId are not registered

I am trying to install SharePoint 2013 on a Windows Server 2012 machine using AutoSPInstaller available on CodePlex.  It is failing with this message: "The local farm is not accessible. Cmdlets with FeatureDependencyId are not registered."  I am not able to open SharePoint 2013 PowerShell.  I receive that message.  I have tried running PowerShell as an administrator.  The installation process fails, so the SharePoint config databases are not being created, so I cannot assign permissions to anything in SQL.  When I add -Version 2.0 to the PowerShell property target I receive the following message:

Add-PsSnapin : Cannot load Windows PowerShell snap-in Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell because of the following error: Could not load file or assembly
'file:///C:\Windows\Microsoft.Net\assembly\GAC_MSIL\Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell\v4.0_15.0.0.0__71E9BCE111E9429C\Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell.dll'
or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded.

    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : AddPSSnapInRead,Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.AddPSSnapinCommand

I am not sure what else to do or try.  Nothing seems to work.  Can anyone help?  I am not seeing anything in SharePoint logs and nothing really helpful in event log.

HI folks,

Here is how i did an successfully upgrade from Sharepoint 2010 to Sharepoint2013, step by step:

1. Create new Sharepoint Farm

2. Managed Path Setup

2. Delete webapplication and Contentdatabase on port 80

3. Restore all databases from Sharepoint 2010, to your new SQLserver using SQLscript
   ( i use SQLserver 2012 for Sharepoint 2013)
( this restore could have been done before this installation )

4. Create your new webapplications with powerscript, use this command:

( Notice ido not use the new Claims Based Authentification )

New-SPWebApplication -Name 'SharePoint - 80' -ApplicationPool 'SharePoint - 80' -AuthenticationMethod 'NTLM' -ApplicationPoolAccount 'Domain\user' -Port '80' -URL 'http://moss2013test:80'

5. Delete the created Contentdatabase for all new webapplications

6. Attach old Contentdatabase that you restored from your Sharepoint 2010 using powerscript

7. Create theese 3 Service Application and Proxy with Powerscript:

- Secure Store Service database,
- Managed Metadata Service database,
- User Profile Service database

Use this command: New-SPSecureStoreServiceApplication and New-SPSecureStoreServiceApplicationProxy ( if you want, i can give you the total script )
( also remember to use the original databasename you restored )

8. Delete the 3 old Service Applications and databases after creating the new

get-spsite -contentdatabase 'You Contentdatabase Name' -limit all | upgrade-spsite -versionupgrade

9. Import encryption key from your old Sharepoint 2010. Open a CMD prompt as ADMINISTRATOR, and type this command:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\15.0\Synchronization Service\Bin\miiskmu.exe" /i "Path to you key file" {0E19E162-827E-4077-82D4-E6ABD531636E}

10. Reset IIS

11. Start User Profile Sync. Service

12. Setup MY site

13. Setup Search from Central Administration gui

14. Copy you layout modifications from your old Sharepoint 2010, i copied this folder:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\Foldername

15. Configure Synchronization Settings

16. Create new connection for each Domain and Subdomain

17. Run Userprofile full Sync. and compile existing Audiences

18. Enable Features on existing sites ( Enterprise Features ) under " Upgrade and Migration"

19. Restart Sharepoint Server

20. Convert all webapplication to use claims based authentication using powerscript:

Convert-SPWebApplication -Identity "http:// <servername>:port" -To Claims

–RetainPermissions [-Force]

oOo

Thats all folks :-)
Of course you have to check the upgrade logs under: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS
Please let me know if you want the scripts i used.
