What are my options for server side anti virus software on the SharePoint 2013 farm

Seems Forefront is only going to continue for Cloud hosted farms.  Does anybody have details of third partys who have a SharePoint 2013 on-prem compatible product now or in the pipeline.

Many thanks.

Sharepoint2013 - how to enable CMIS?

$

In sharepoint2010, you installed the admin kit.  In 2013, supposedly built in.

Trying to use http://<server>/_vti_bin/cmis/soap/RepositoryService.svc  to access RepositoryService.getRepositories(), with the hope this will show/list the repositoryId's needed for the AtomPub CMIS service.

Getting "Feature CMISProducer is not activated".  How do you active CMISProducer in 2013, and if there is additional information on sharepoint 2013 w/ CMIS usage examples would be great (not the brochure/whitepapers, I've already gone through most of them).

Thanky!

Replicate Selected User Profile through PowerShell

Hi,

I need to replicate a selected user profile across farms. I have got to know that "

Start-SPProfileServiceIncrementalReplication
" does profile replication.

(Reference: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff823733.aspx)

But it doesn't seem to be having control over which user profile to allow.

Is there an approach to do this ?

Upgrade to Enterprise

At one of my IT company's customers, I just finished installing SharePoint 2013 Standard. The customer, who knows enough IT to be dangerous, decided that he now wanted to upgrade it to Enterprise which he did I assume by just entering a new key.

I'm new to SharePoint so I'm just trying to figure out the basics, much less comparing the different versions.

Before he did the upgrade, SharePoint was working for the most part, I was just trying to figure out why some functions were not working. But there were no errors see anywhere.

But since he did the upgrade, there are now errors and warnings in SP Central Administration from the Health Analyzer. However, the only error that to me would prevent SharePoint from working (can't get past the login prompt when trying to open the SP site) is the following.

"Missing server side dependencies". The details are:

[MissingWebPart] WebPart class [28c23aec-2537-68b3-43b6-845b13cea19f] is referenced [5] times in the database [SharePoint_AdminContent_899710bf-2ef7-489f-9793-be82f5c6a9d9], but is not installed on the current farm. Please install any feature/solution which contains this web part. One or more web parts are referenced in the database [SharePoint_AdminContent_899710bf-2ef7-489f-9793-be82f5c6a9d9], but are not installed on the current farm. Please install any feature or solution which contains these web parts.

Would this error be caused by the upgrade from Standard to Enterprise? No content has been added, the site is still "pristine". Would I be better off trying figure out how to repair the above error and hope that allows the site to start working again or should I just uninstall and reinstall SharePoint since no data would be lost?

SSL error when trying to sync tasks to Exchange 2013

I followed the documentation on setting up exchange 2013 and SharePoint 2013 for task synchronization. When I try to sync the tasks to outlook, i get an error telling me that the user mailbox on exchange may not support task synchronization. when i look in the ULS logs in sharepoint i see the following error:

An operation failed because the following certificate has validation errors: Subject Name: CN=localhost.localdomain Issuer Name: CN=localhost.localdomain Thumbprint: 5D64E20B424D4A613288024734CAD805A1BD7B0E Errors: SSL policy errors have been encountered. Error code '0x6'..

Problem is i don't know what certificate this is reffering to. Has anyone seen this issue before or can give me any advise on tracking down this certificate? the cn=localhost cn=localdomain is confusing to me.

SharePoint 2013 - 401 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials.

$

I have a dev/lab environment with 4 virtual machines. I need to give my fellow developer access to my SharePoint 2013 demosite via IP-address (don't bother to ask why I'm using ip-adress. It's too complicated network setup to describe it here).

However i get this error when I try accessing the site using server IP 10.100.101.XX:80

<fieldset>

401 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials.

You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.

</fieldset>

I get same error locally and on other machines in the network when using IP.

Here's my setup: VMs: DC + SP2013-WFE + SQL2012 + Office Web App Server

SharePoint 2013 is RTM version. Web Application I'm trying to access is the default SharePoint - 80. I have DisableLoopbackCheck set. No alternate access mappings set so far. I can access the site on SharePoint 80 using the servernamehttp://devmachine  just fine. I tried same scenario on SharePoint 2010 version and using the server IP-adress and it worked fine. I've also tried different credentials. Only difference between SharePoint 2010 and 2013 setups I managed to find was the Authentication Method used by the default SharePoint - 80 web application. SharePoint 2010 default SharePoint - 80 Web Application usesClassic Mode Authenticaton. On 2013 server it is set as Claims Based Authentication.

I haven't played with Claims too much. Is it Claims Authentication that is preventing the access via IP or is it something else? Perhaps changes in SharePoint 2013 IIS websites? Please help me out with this problem!

Sharepoint 2010 to 2013 upgrade Error CheckNoEBSStreams

I am currently testing the upgrade path for SharePoint 2010 to 2013. SharePoint 2010 is SQL 2012 and SharePoint 2013 is SQL 2012 SP1. (Could this be the problem?)

I am at the stage where I want to attach a content data base that uses RBS.

When I run the POwershell command to test the upgradability of the content database (Test-SPContentDatabase) I get a number of UpgradeBlocking errors and cannot find anything to help. See below.

Sharepoint 2013 top right links Newsfeed, SkyDrive, Sites

I had set up user profile service application to host mysites at address http://domain.local

After few days i deleted that site collection (only my profile was created durign that time) and crated with FQDN http://my.sites.com.

When i login to regular Sharepoint site the top links (Skydrive and Sites) are pointing to old local URL's, the Newsfeed however points to the correct one (once i clicked it created my profile from scratch).

If i manually type URLs that should work, it's ok, but how do I change where do those link point to.

In UPSA i have set for My Sites to point to new address, but nothing changed...

Any hints?

SharePoint 2013 Excel Services Data Model

$

I'm configuring Excel Services in SharePoint 2013, and I'm trying to determine which type of SSAS 2012 instances work for the Data Model configuration in Excel Services.  I'm wanting to have Excel 2013 documents that are connected to multiple tables (thus use the data model) work in SharePoint.

I have it working when I configure the Excel Services Data Model to use a PowerPivot instance (ie SERVER\POWERPIVOT).  This linkhttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219780.aspx seems to imply that you could use other types of SSAS instances, as long as they're SQL 2012 SP1.

At the end of the day what I'm really trying to figure out is....does this need to be a PowerPivot instance (ie. you need to have SQL Enterprise) or will this work with non PowerPivot instances (Multidimensional? Tabular?)

My thanks in Advance to anyone who can shed some light on this.

SharePoint 2013 RTM breaks VSS System Writer

We just finished installing SharePoint 2013 (yesterday) and noticed that our "Windows Server Backup" failed last night due to the VSS System Writer no longer showing up in the "vssadmin list writers" list.  Is this a known issue with SharePoint 2013 RTM as it seems others had this problem with the SharePoint 2013 Preview?

Backups were working fine prior to installing SharePoint 2013.

Our SharePoint server is running Windows Server 2012 Standard RTM with SQL Server 2012 Standard RTM and all the latest updates.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Windows and SAML Claim

Hi,

We have chosen SP 2013 for our new project. I have a question on claims.
We will create 3 web apps and implement windows claims in all 3. The underlying sites will be accessible using windows claim. However, in future releases, we have requirement to integrate with other applications and for that we will choose SAML. My question is can we have two authentication mechanism in those web apps so that users will still access the sites using windows calims and the integration part can be handled using SAML? Could you please provide your input and help me to find the answers/concepts/strategy here?

Thanks in advance,

Access Services: Server Error in '/' Application

I'm testing out the Access 2013 Services and have followed the steps listed in http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/12514.sharepoint-2013-access-services.aspx

When publishing a new Web App (custom or template) from Access 2013 I get the following error

Server Error in '/' Application.

The resource cannot be found.

Description:
HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies)
could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

I don't see anything in the even viewer as far as errors go, just a couple events showing that permissions have been provisioned for the service.

How do I go about troubleshooting this?

Unable to create folders on Upgraded Document Libraries

I've completed upgrading my SharePoint 2010 environment to SharePoint 2013. No custom solutions were installed on my previous environment, and i'm noticing when users try to create a new folder in their Shared Documents Library they get the following error

"Web Parts Maintenance Page: If you have permission, you can use this page to temporarily close Web Parts or remove personal settings. For more information, contact your site administrator. "

When i look this up in the ULS logs I find a couple entries that are interestin

"Name=Request (GET:http://sp.teehub1.com/sites/Audit/Shared Documents/Forms/Upload.aspx?RootFolder=/sites/Audit/Shared Documents&Type=1&IsDlg=1)"

then:

"Reached maximum number of failed machines based on ping results for this routing group"

then:

"Mapping URI from 'http://sp.domain.com:80/sites/Audit/Shared Documents/Forms/Upload.aspx?RootFolder=%2Fsites%2FAudit%2FShared%20Documents&Type=1&IsDlg=1' to 'http://SP/sites/Audit/Shared%20Documents/Forms/Upload.aspx?RootFolder=%2Fsites%2FAudit%2FShared%20Documents&Type=1&IsDlg=1'"

i also found this entry :

Application error when access /sites/Audit/Shared Documents/Forms/Upload.aspx, Error=Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Right now my workaround is to create a new SP2013 Document Libary, then move all the documents to the new library. Adding a folder then works as expected. However, this is going to be quite tedious as i have numerous amounts of libraries to transfer over.

How can i get this working without having to recreate the libraries?
