HTTP 401 Adding an Item to a Custom List

$

0

I am seeing this error on a  List using Sharepoint 2013 (create new list, add item).  Screen Response Text
is "Can not save item at this time", Fiddler shows a 401 on GET /_vti_bin/client.svc/ProcessQuery
then a couple of 302's and finally:
401 on GET /_windows/default.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2f_vti_bin%2fclient.svc%2fProcessQuery
If I try to RENAME  a field I fall into this loop:
GET /_vti_bin/client.svc/ProcessQuery  302 redirect to:
/_login/default.aspx?returnUrl=%2f_vti_bin%2fclient.svc%2fProcessQuery
This redirect gives back a 302 redirect to:
/_windows/default.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2f_vti_bin%2fclient.svc%2fProcessQuery
This redirects back to:
 /_vti_bin/client.svc/ProcessQuery
And this looping continues until I see the on screen message
Unexpected response from server.  The status code of response is '0'.  The status text of response is ''
YOUR MOVE.  Thanks.

Unable to create folders on Upgraded Document Libraries

I've completed upgrading my SharePoint 2010 environment to SharePoint 2013. No custom solutions were installed on my previous environment, and i'm noticing when users try to create a new folder in their Shared Documents Library they get the following error

"Web Parts Maintenance Page: If you have permission, you can use this page to temporarily close Web Parts or remove personal settings. For more information, contact your site administrator. "

When i look this up in the ULS logs I find a couple entries that are interestin

"Name=Request (GET:http://sp.teehub1.com/sites/Audit/Shared Documents/Forms/Upload.aspx?RootFolder=/sites/Audit/Shared Documents&Type=1&IsDlg=1)"

then:

"Reached maximum number of failed machines based on ping results for this routing group"

then:

"Mapping URI from 'http://sp.domain.com:80/sites/Audit/Shared Documents/Forms/Upload.aspx?RootFolder=%2Fsites%2FAudit%2FShared%20Documents&Type=1&IsDlg=1' to 'http://SP/sites/Audit/Shared%20Documents/Forms/Upload.aspx?RootFolder=%2Fsites%2FAudit%2FShared%20Documents&Type=1&IsDlg=1'"

i also found this entry :

Right now my workaround is to create a new SP2013 Document Libary, then move all the documents to the new library. Adding a folder then works as expected. However, this is going to be quite tedious as i have numerous amounts of libraries to transfer over.

How can i get this working without having to recreate the libraries?

How to install PowerPivot on SharePoint 2013

$

Ok I installed an evaluation of SharePoint 2013 in a VM with Server 2012 and SQL server 2012 for testing. I cannot seem to figure out how to install PowerPivot on this server.

I have read the following articles:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj218792.aspx

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219067.aspx

along with numerous other ones I found on Google Search. However I cannot seem to find where this SPowerPivot.msi file is as the links in the articles dont work. I selected the PowerPivot option during the SharePoint 2013 installation, I have installed the Analysis Services on my SQL DB.

Can anyone point me in a direction that actually works? I am sorry if this is not the correct forum for this but I have no other clue where to post this question other than SharePoint 2013.

Thanks in advance!

URI Mapping Problem with SSL

Hi,

I have been having a problem with URI mapping. The issue is associated with SSL and what I can see in the ULS logs is that the URI mapping process is going fromhttps://extrenal to https://internal

The problem is the internal site is http://internal nothttps://internal and as a result I'm unable to load web forms over SSL. So far this is the only problem I have found though the ULS logs suggest there could be more.

It appears the AAM should be mapping from https://external tohttp://internal

Hopefully this makes sense, any help would be much appreciated

User profile export to AD issue

Hi all.

I seem to be having an issue with exporting sharepoint properties to AD. Importing works fine the issue only starts to happen if I try and export more than 1 property.
I've replaced the user profile service a number of times as part of my testing and I'm still trolling through all the SQL commands that take place when I create the export link so it's still a WIP.

Process: Standard sharepoint to AD mappings with all set to Import. Tested and works fine - no issues.
Edit an attribute (eg workphone), remove the import map and create a new export map. Tested and works fine.
Edit another attribute (eg department), remove the import map and create a new export map. Click OK to get back to property listings and I now have 2 sharepoint attributes mapped to the same AD property. Work Phone->telephonenumber and Department->Telephonenumber.

Editing either one of these properties and I can see both export maps listed in the properties....and I can also create another mapping if I want (this should not be possible with a mapping already done).

Doing a third property change - I end up with 3 sharepoint properties going to the same AD attribute....

I've tried a number of options for the mapping process (eg reboot / full sync inbetween each step of the property change) but there's no difference.

Our old SP2010 server worked fine (and still does if I re-enable the sync) using this process and I also tried a setting comparison between the 2 systems just to make sure.

Has anyone seen this before? and if so - where's the best starting point to tracking down the issue? (aside from the usual ULS logs and trying to decode the sql tables...)

Thanks.

JohnB.

I know this is a weird error message "The server was unable to save the form at this time. Please try again" which is killing my time in SharePoint Foundation 2013.  I have tried to resolve this by restarting search service host controller but no luck, there is no memory over shooting you can see this in the below pic

This was working perfectly fine until today it suddenly started showing this error.

let  me know if anyone is looking for more details.. any suggestion is appreciated.

I am Planning to setup a new SharePoint 2013 Farm and a DR Farm using the same set of Servers using SQL mirroring. the only part is that my DR Farm will be located in a different Data Center, than my production Farm. As per the TechNet Article Stretched Farm is no longer supported in SharePoint 2013. I would like to know if there is any workaround for the same or can I setup my DR Farm in another Data Center which has <1ms latency and >4Gbps connectivity.

Thanks in Advance.

User Profile Service: Active Directory Permissions are not set on users in OU

Hello everyone,

I have a problem setting up the UPS.  I followed the guide from harbar on that page:

http://www.harbar.net/articles/sp2010ups.aspx

However, my problem is this: Importing profiles works fine. But exporting them doesn't work. Reason seems to be simple: The user in the OU is missing the right of Writing properties and creating child objects. After setting it manually on a user it works! On the page above harbar explains how to set permissions on OU and to push it down to allusers inside the OU. He says if not followed, permissions are only set to OU and not to users. However, I followed the guide but still it is only set to the OU and not the users. Maybe the guide is wrong? Because I really followed it step by step very acurately...

Thanks!

Hey all.

OurSharePoint installationdriving mecrazy. After some dependence issues during the installation process I was able to finish the installation and run through the configuration wizard without any problems.

Then I tried to access the central administration site. But the only thing I got was a blank site with the HTTP-response-status 200. I tried the hints from

Setting up SharePoint 2013

$

I am trying to setup SharePoint 2013 and I'm feeling somewhat lost. I'll admit I'm a beginner to this. I have 2 VMs in Hyper-V both running Server 2012. One has SQL 2012 installed and running, the other has SharePoint 2013.

After sever installs/uninstalls/reinstalls of SP, I think it's now finally installed and initally configured correctly. I can get to the SharePoint site from another computer. But when I click the "Upload a Document" link on the home page, nothing happens. In fact, there are many links that don't work. The Lists, Documents, and Site Contents links work, but I can't figure out how to upload any documents.

One question I have is do I have to create a site collection in order to use this or can I just use the initial site I set up in the SharePoint - 80 web application?

On the home page, when I click Lists (on the left) and then click Add an App, I get to the Site Contents > Your Apps page. But it's blank and I can't figure out how to populate it.

I realize I'm pretty ignorant about it, but so far I've managed to find the help I've needed in installing and doing the initial setup. But now I'm at a loss as to what to do.

If there is a good, basic online tutorial for what I need, I'd appreciate a link to it or else just some answers to my above questions.

Thanks in advance,

Jonathan

Office Web App 2013 and Excel Services

$

Hello everyone,

in an installation with Office Web Apps 2013 which also uses Excel workbooks with Secure Store Service and PowerPivot, the display of which requires Excel Services. How would you proceed with the configuration?

The system is up and running and I used New-SPWOPISuppressionSetting to create an exception for viewing .xlsx files, so every .xlsx file is opened in Excel Services with the option to edit it in Excel Web App.

What I would like to do is to configure this suppression setting to be valid only for certain Reporting/BI/Dashboard sites and libraries. I did attempt to use the [-AssignmentCollection <SPAssignmentCollection>] command in the New-SPWOPISuppressionSetting cmdlet, but I didn't manage to get this to work, I was not able to specify an SPSite/SPWeb.

Is it possible to use this cmdlet for a granular configuration, or is it possible to achieve this configuration by other means (other than having 2 separate farms)? Or should I just go with Excel Services for viewing regardless of location?

Thank you in advance for any insight into this matter.

Kind regards,
Adrian

Register-SPWorkflowService Unable to load one or more of the requested types

I uninstalled SharePoint 2013 preview, azure workflow manager beta on my test machine and reinstalled SharePoint 2013 RTM and windows workflow manager 1.0. However, i got "Unable to load one or more of the requested types" when i run Register-SPWorkflowService PowerShell cmdlet. With fuslogvw, i found out that SharePoint 2013 preview has installed two assemblies C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_MSIL\Microsoft.SharePoint.WorkflowServices.Activities and

C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_MSIL\Microsoft.SharePoint.WorkflowServices.Activities.Design

in the GAC, but SharePoint 2013 RTM don't have these two assembly in the GAC. So, the these two assemblies were left in the GAC after preview version uninstallation and RTM version installation. And these preview version tried to load assembly installed by azure workflow manager beta, which does not exist anymore.

Just delete the two folders

C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_MSIL\Microsoft.SharePoint.WorkflowServices.Activities and

C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_MSIL\Microsoft.SharePoint.WorkflowServices.Activities.Design

And rerun Register-SPworkflowService succeeded.

I have read on numerous pages about this error that it comes from the service account of the application pool this runs in not having "Full Read" permissions on one or more web applications.

Well, I don't use a different account for it, I use my farm service account for ALL services, and I am very positive it has FULL CONTROL + FULL READ for ALL of the web applications.

So why would I still be getting this error?

I am using MySites, I uploaded a sample "Test.txt" to my own Document Library on my MySite page.

I go to "Search everything" box, type in "Test", hit Enter

It brings me to a page that says "Let us know why you need access to this item." with a page title of "Access required".

I noticed the URL it brings me to with this page is my SharePoint Search URL:

"search.mysharepointsite.net/_layouts/15/AccessDenied.aspx?Source=blah_blah_blah"

Upgrade SharePoint 2010 to 2013 - any "tricks" to use same server?

$
0
0

I'm just starting to learn about SharePoint 2013 but immediately of course see that in-place upgrade from 2010 is not supported.  Currently for our development environment I have a small SharePoint 2010 farm with the databases (SQL 2008 R2) on one server and SharePoint 2010 installed on a second Windows 2008 R2 server. I have the same setup for our production farm.

When upgrading to SharePoint 2013, I'm wondering if there are any nice tricks that would allow me to re-use the same Windows 2008 R2 server, disconnecting the server from the 2010 farm, perhaps renaming some files or folders, and then installing 2013 on it? It's not the end of the world if not, of course, but I thought it might be nice, even if I can just do it for the development environment to play with SP 2013 a bit.

Thank you!
