MS12-050 on SharePoint 2007
In my testing of this patch (have installed on two seperate test farms) I have noticed that KB2596663, KB2596942, and KB2596911 all run PSCONFIG during the install.
Is this suppose to happen, or is there a way to prevent PSCONFIG from running automatically?
Will this cause any issues in a multi-server farm if psconfig run and completed on a server before the binaries are installed on other servers in the farm?
In all the updates I have applied previously this has never happened, and I have always run PSCONFIG on the servers in the farm after the binary update.

My links and access denied on all of his links
Browsing a Sharepoint site then clicks my links and user receives access denied on all of his links. Being prompt for username and password.

SharePoint 2010 - Document library
Hello everyone,
I`m new to SharePoint, so i need help in very simple things :)
I need to sort documents in two or more document librarys,
I got one main Document library and by adding document in it, i need that same document to be added in a different library,
The documents need to be sorted by Title or some other column...
For example if i add document in my basic (main) library with title "Journalism", that same document needs also to be added in my other library called Journalist reports, but if i add document with title "Camera" i need that document to be added in library called Camera library...
Can i do this with connected document library or is there some easier way to do it,

SP 2007 Slipstream - Language versions should be a separate slipstream version
Hello, I want to create a slipstream version of 2007 with latest CU. Can I have the language SP included and use it on an english only installation or for that purpose I need to have one only english slipstreamed installation version and another one with the languages upgrades included?

PSCONFIG command throws ERROR "failed to upgrade sharepoint products"
I upgraded SharePoint 2010 server with Feb and Apr 2012 CU. Ran the configuration wizard. On all servers configuration wizard runs successful. When I go and check the Manage servers in this farm. I still see the status next to each server “Upgrade Available”. I see the build version of SharePoint on top “14.0.6120.5006”. I did searched in google and found that I need to execute the below command in order for me to see “No Action Required” infront of each server.
PSCONFIG.exe –cmd upgrade –inplace b2b –wait.
After this command, I could see message in command prompt “failed to upgrade sharepoint products”. Still the message next to each server says “Upgrade available”. What are my next steps??

Sharepoint Index server and Query Server
I have a medium Moss farm 3 frontend servers Index server and DB server. I am at the part of adding the index server to the farm all is good but I am confused on the 2 check boxes "Use this server to index content" and "User the server for serving search queries"
What is the difference? Do I check both if this is a dedicated Index Server?

Sharepoint 2010 upgrade mass updates OOB Signature Workflow tasks
We just upgraded to SP 2010 from 2007.
We have a Procedures manual library which uses OOB Collect Signature workflows for approvals. We opted to still use SP 2007 workflows.
The documents with all the Completed tasks and workflow history were successfully moved.
However after 3 days, 90 % of the tasks were updated, resulting in a deluge email notifications to most of signatories.
Why did this happen. Will this happen again. How do we prevent it from happening?

Cannot activate Sharepoint Server Publishing Infrastructure. Advice???
Steps I've taken thus far:
Site Actions > Site Settings > Site Collection Features (under Site Collection Administration) > Sharepoint Server Publishing Infrastructure [Activate].
Once I try to activate it, I get the error that says:
Publishing sites and features cannot be activated in the Central Administration Web Application.Troubleshoot issues with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation.

I have tried to find someone that has the same error as me, but have so far been unsuccessful. I am pretty new to Sharepoint, and would love some wisdom from people who are far more experienced than myself. I am logged in as an administrator, and I am in the farm admin group for the whole sharepoint environment, so I don't believe it's an issue of permissions here.
Anyone else run into this error? How do you go about fixing it?

SP2010-Table format in Words.docx
When I saved my last changes on a report where different team members have opened and edited the file on different sections, the table format seems to be changed/not in proper position when I opened to view it on the next day. Version is enable for the doc library.
Why was it happen? Any idea? Will Words get to format itself?

Hello,
We have new SP2010 server. I have created couple of web applications and when I try to create Site Collection under them, I get very wierd error:
"Failed to load receiver assembly "Microsoft.Office.Excel.Server, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c" for feature "ExcelServerSite" (ID: 3cb475e7-4e87-45eb-a1f3-db96ad7cf313).:....."
I checked in the asembly and I do have above mentioned asembly but version is Version=14.0.0.0, which I think is correcct since it is SP2010 environment and not MOSS 2007.
If my understanding is correct, then may I ask "Why SharePoint 2010 site creation is looking for Version=12.0.0.0, or Where would I have configured it to look for this version " ?
Please Note, if i create a Site Collection with Blank Site as Template then it gets created without any issues and link to the site works well.

Getting "Cannot complete this action" while unlocking a website
Dear All,
I was trying to copy data (document library files) from SP2007 website to SP2010 website using MS Office Groove 2007. During this operation the website got locked for some unknown reason. Now I have tried every way to unlock the website. ex:
1. Central Admin
2. Powershell
While using the following stsadm command (stsadm.exe -o setsitelock -url http://my-server.com -lock none). I am getting the "Cannot Complete this action error"
This has become a great pain, considering I'm executing a critical operation. Any help in this regard will be appreciated.

MOSS 2007 site could not be viewed from other computer.
Hi,
I had succesfully installed MOSS 2007 on Windows Server 2008 R2. Shared Services are already running and had successfully created Web Applications, Site Collections, and Sites. When i browsed the site on its browser, it runs smoothly but when i tried ti view it using other computer, it showed nothing. It says the page could not be displayed. What do you guuys think are the possible causes of this issue?
