I installed sharepoint 2013 and run configuration wizard.  In the page "Specify Confguration Database Settings" and in the section "specify database access acount" I enter my domain admin account user (in DOMAIN\user_name format) and pass and I'm sure that I enter it correct. but it say "the password specified for the username account is invalid" !!

What's the problem?

Thanks

Problem:

Can't edit Ms Office 2007 Documents on SharePoint

Setup:
SharePoint Foundations 2013 Installed on Local Server (Windows Server 2008 Enterprise R2).
Client Computers are running on Windows 7 Professional, MS Office 2007 Professional and Internet Explorer 11.

We have created a document library and we want everyone to edit a document and save it, but when we are trying to edit the document we get an error in Internet Explorer “The webpage cannot be displayed”.

My question is can we edit a ms office document online in SharePoint foundation 2013, Is there any plug-in to install or SharePoint Foundation 2013 has this option to edit a document online?<o:p></o:p>

Thanks in Advance.

Forms not rendering in new environment with IE

Hello,

I installed a new 3-Tier environment and a developer's environment (SharePoint 2013 Enterprise / Windows Server 2012), everything went fine and all the services are working correctly, but I cannot see any forms (ex : default workflow association form) with Internet Explorer(tried with 10 and 11).

Those forms work perfectly fine in Chrome or Firefox, but in Internet Explorer, I get the error :

SEC7113: css was ignored due to mime type mismatch

on the item FormResource.aspx

I have never had this error on other environments, before.. I tried looking into the IIS mime types, tried looking into it with Fiddler, but couldn't find anything helpful.

I tried accessing another SP Farm outside of the Intranet and could access those forms with IE, so I'm guessing it is not a problem with IE's configuration but more a server-side problem.

Has anyone ever have this problem, or does anyone have an idea to how I could solve it ?

Thanx,

Antonin

2 web servers, 3 application servers, 1 OWA server, 1 DB server. Upgraded a site from 2010 to 2013. On one web server, I am getting:

Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.SharePoint, Version=14.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

This is happening only on the upgraded site.

If I create a new site collection in SP 2013 mode on the same web server, it is working fine. Eventviewer Application logs are not helpful.

New-SPSite fails

New instance of Sharepoint 2013 with latest CU installed.  We upgraded 3 sites via mount database and they appear to work fine.  I can create new web applications, however when we try to create a new site collection via the GUI or PS it fails.  Can anyone please help us solve this?  I have searched high and low to figure this out and I have not found anything helpful.  I have checked permissions on the database and the user is a farm admin that is running the PS with elevation.

Increasing wss_logging

In SharePoint 2013, can we set wss_logging to retain more than 31 days? I tried the command below but it's not accepting anything beyond 31.

Get-SPUsageDefinition | Set-SPUsageDefinition -DaysRetained 60

I'd rather not copy the logs somewhere else like some people suggested.

Minimal Download Strategy and 401 errors OOTB on HNSC

I am trying to create a new web application and new website under it with a Host Named Site Collectionhttp://xx.blahtest.domain.net When I create my new site under PowerShell for some reason it creates the site just fine. I assign myself as the site administrator (I'm already farm admin also).

When I go to my new site for the first time I get the 401 unauthorized error. I was able to bring up the site settings by manually typing in the urlhttp://xx.blahtest.domain.net/_layouts/15/settings.aspx and then when I go and disable the Minimal Download Strategy feature, I can get to the main site page just fine.

My only issue is that when this is the case I cannot upload documents through the drag and drop method or grant other users permissions (I cannot get their usernames to resolve) or post anything under discussions.

I am not sure if I just need an IISRESET after creating the new HNSC or if I need to restart my wfe or something else. I am not having any issues with 3 other web applications with sites on them in the same farm. Only with this new web app with the new HSNC.

I do have other HSNC on another web app, so again not sure why my issue is isolated just on this new site collection.

How to disable auto follow people from team

Hi

After provisioning my site portal I realized the people from my team are auto followed.

I wanted to stop that and delete all the existing auto followed associations ?

I tried Permission for the User Profile application and realized it doesn't affect the existing associations.

Do I need to change the policy called "Auto-Follow People from team" ? Is so could someone give me how to do that ? I tried but I couldn't get it to work.

Thanks a lot,

Dineth

ADFS and having users added once they are authenticated

I have an issue where user profile are not syncing because once the users log into the site collection their account is not getting added to the site collection.  I am using ADFS as my claim provider.  Is there a way to make this work or a work around where I can pull all the profiles over from my user profile service.

Complex Infrastructure Design Challenges

Hi

I need some advice on a infrastructure design. I am hoping someone can help or point me in the right direction.

Requirements are as follows

- Sharepoint 2013 3-Tier Design

    -> Front-End Cluster

    -> App Tier

    -> SQL Cluster

Aside from the requirements from a server perspective which provides it's own challenges there needs to be Single-Sign On, however multi-domain support will be challenging since there will be two AD Forests with no trust relationship being allowed.

I have the following challenges:

- One of the two domains there will be full control on the service accounts and the management environment, but using the servers on that domain as the initial domain will be very limiting in it's own sense. The other domain there will be limited or no control

- Single sign on nightmare is that these two domains have no trust relationship and never will. How could I manage that with the above point also holding true. I saw an article on ADFS that will be able to provide the transparent authentication level but what would be required from access perspective to have ADFS tied in with the domain which there will be no control over

- The servers is currently joined on the domain with the limited control the possibility to intall cluster services, sql services and sharepoint services is a bit limited. This can be switched to the domain with the complete control but the Single sign on nightmare will be the ultimate deciding factor

Help, advice or any resource documents with examples of such scenario's would be helpful

Can someone point me in the direction I need to be. I am happy to read up on any knowledge articles if there are any

SharePoint DSN Changing in the registry

$

Hello All,

We are seeing some strange behaviour with a SharePoint 2013 SP1 farm. This Farm has been running for a while but is still in pre-production at the moment.

The issue we are seeing is the DSN key in the registry in this location

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Web Server Extensions\15.0\secure\ConfigDB.

is being changed from this

Data Source=SPPRDAlias;Initial Catalog=SPPRD_Config;Integrated Security=True;Enlist=False;Pooling=True;Min Pool Size=0;Max Pool Size=100;Connect Timeout=45

to this

Connect Timeout=45

Obviously SharePoint stops working on the server until we edit the registry and put the correct key back.

The Farm has 4 servers, 2 are acting as Web Servers and 2 as Application servers, it only seems to be the web servers that are affected at the moment.

I am unaware of any group policy setting that is causing this.

BCS Profile Page Error

Hi Folks,

This is the first time I'm totally stumped. I upgraded a BCS service app from 2010 to 2013. When it was running in 2010 mode, all was fine. As soon as I upgraded the site collection the BCS Profile Page is not showing due to an error.

The link to the profile page / default action is being routed through ActionRedirect.aspx which is throwing the error...

/_layouts/15/ActionRedirect.aspx?EntityNamespace=<DOMAIN>&EntityName=<ENTITIY>&LOBSystemInstanceName=<DB>&ItemID=1797

The Error I get is:

The passed in identifier is not properly encoded

I checked the logs, ramped up the BCS component to Verbose, but no clue as to what is causing this error.

When I create an action without any parameters, it works fine. As soon as I add any parameter, be it Integer, String or Guid, I get the above mentioned error.

I created a brand new entity with a brand new connection and brand new item and list readers, and still get the same error whenever I click on the default action for an entity. So this error not only happens for upgraded entities.

Rebuilding BCS is not an option, as we're looking at thousands of documents which have been tagged with the proper entity already and rebuilding BCS from scratch would cause all existing associations to fail.

Any thoughts as to how to tackle this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Sharepoint Foundation requirements

Hi,

I want to use sharepoint foundation 2013 for my business use. I've few questions related to that -

1- What other licenses (for example Windows Server, SQL server etc) I need to use sharepoint foundation.

2 - What are the limitations using sharepoint foundation.

3 - Is there any time limitation using sharepoint foundation (how long I can use sharepoint foundation).

4 - How can I provide access to my clients & external users?

5 - Any other specific point to be considered....

Thanks in Advance...

Active Direct import over Central Administration SSL

We want to import from AD to User Profiles in SharePoint 2013. We´ve configured a Direct Import, but cannot get any information imported. The log says "CreateProfileImportExportId:Could not InitializeProfileImportExportProcess for end point ...." I found this posthttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/c051d592-c8fc-4a7d-89bc-e910c3d9741a/user-profile-sync-not-working-how-to-change-ca-url-from-ssl-to-http?forum=sharepointadmin and our Central Administration are indeed running over https. Is there any other solution than changing to http? The security guy is not happy when we says that we need to change the adress.

Access External List with SharePoint 2013 Workflow

$

In a SP 2010 designer workflow you could access/update an SQL table using an External List (ECT).

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff394479(v=office.14).aspx

When I attempt to do the same thing in an SP 2013 workflow the External Lists don't show up in the Data Source drop down. Steps:

  1. Create a test SQL table
  2. Using SP Designer 2013, create an External Content Type with all operations (Create, Read Item...)
  3. Create an External List from the test ECT
  4. Using SP Designer 2013 create a list workflow (against a standard SP list i.e. a task list)
  5. Add a Create item or Update item action
  6. Click 'this list' and look for the External List using the List drop down
  7. Issue: the External List is not in the List drop down

I can't find any references to this feature being deprecated in 2013.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

What is the Performance Metric Provider timer job?

Hi, Every day at certain times of day, the Performance Metric Provider failed with:

An update conflict has occurred, and you must re-try this action. The object SPWebService was updated by OurDomain\OurSPAdmin, in the OWSTIMER (3304) process, on machine OURSERVER. View the tracing log for more information about the conflict.

I can't find any information about this specific timer job. What does it do? How does it work? How we can make benefit out of it?

Does anyone understand this timer job?

Thank you.

With reference to this link

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff607783(v=office.14).aspx

On restoring MMS on the same farm ,I saw this error in logs. But none of the msdn threads helped to resolve this.

Object New_MD_s (previous name: Managed Metadata Service_8aa5d4c808a5497e90fa147aba99cc87) failed in event OnRestore. For more information, see the spbackup.log or sprestore.log file located in the backup directory.  SqlException:  The operation did not proceed far enough to allow RESTART. Reissue the statement without the RESTART qualifier.
RESTORE DATABASE is terminating abnormally

What is the exact resolution?

Or do I need to manually try with manual db attach approach?
