Microsoft Word Web App - Sorry, we ran into a problem

$

Hi,

I have seen a lot of articles with similar error, however none articles seems to answer my problem.

In my environment I'm getting the following error when I preview word documents. (both .docx and .doc). All other office file formats are working without fail.

There is no error in my ULS logs.

The document preview is working fine and also editing documents within my browser is working fine.

I'm using SharePoint 2013 (on premises) with IE10 (10.0.18). (From my client machine using Chrome works fine)

When I do the same from the SharePoint server in the farm running IE11 (11.0.10) then all works fine.

my default zone(and only zone) is using https.

Additonally: There are multiple applications running on this farm only one application seems to have this problem. The main difference is that the failing application runs FBA. I can't imagine however that FBA is the problem here (maybe part of the problem?) as it's working in Chrome and on IE 11 on the servers.

Sorry, this site hasn't been shared with you. - But user does have access!

Hi All,

this is my current setup:

One website and a sub-site

SP group that has read permissions to the primary website, and the subsite inherits the permissions from the primary.

created a new AD user, added him to the group that has permissions to the primary site.

when the user is trying to access the sub site, he gets the error in the subject:

Sorry, this site hasn't been shared with you.

I went to the sites permissions settings and verified using the "check permissions" that the users does have a permission to access the site..

what am I missing?!

TIA,

Could not retrieve a valid windows identity - access is denied

Background:

We have a reporting solution based on SQL Server 2012 SP1 running on Server 2008 R2. Users access the solution through SharePoint 2013. We have several hundred users and all is well with the exception of 2 users.

Problem:

When these 2 users try and open a SSRS report they receive an error. The entry is the SharePoint log reads:

SPSecurityContext.WindowsIdentity: Could not retrieve a valid windows identity for NTName='domain\username', UPN='user.name@email.com'. UPN is required when Kerberos constrained delegation is used. Exception: System.ServiceModel.Security.SecurityAccessDeniedException: Access is denied.

Other details (thoughts):

We are confident that Kerberos and C2WTS are set up and working correctly (we have a couple of hundred users working).

We suspect it may be Active Directory related but can find nothing that sets the users apart from everyone else.

Has anyone any suggestions to resolve this?

Default Values do not get applied to new versions of documents

Default values work correctly when a document is first uploaded to a library. But when that document is modified and re-uploaded to the library, the default values are not applied. I've tested this on regular default values and those put in via "Column Default Values" via Library Settings. This library has Major and Minor versions and also requires content approval. How do I ensure that the default values work on updated documents?

It seems that as long as a file is downloaded from SharePoint, modified and re-uploaded, the values remain the same. This issue only occurs if someone has retained a version, made edits, and re-uploaded the changed file to SharePoint.

Copy-SPSite : Cannot rename old site

Hi

I have a site Collection on our SP 2013 farm that I want to copy in order to perform a test upgrade to "2013 experience" (from 2010). I have created a new content database for this purpose, and run this command:

Copy-SPSite https://sektornet/nsi -DestinationDatabase SP2013_Content_NSIGL -TargetUrl https://sektornet/sites/sektornetnsigl

After around 10 minutes I get this error message:

Copy-SPSite : Cannot rename old site https://sektornet/nsi on copy.
At C:\Scripts\CopySiteCollection.ps1:1 char:1+ Copy-SPSite https://sektornet/nsi -DestinationDatabase SP2013_Content_NSIGL -Tar ...+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ CategoryInfo : InvalidData: (Microsoft.Share...PCmdletCopySite:SPCmdletCopySite) [Copy-SPSite], SPException+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell.SPCmdletCopySite

The destination site Collection does not exist beforehand. Should it?

Am I doing anything wrong here?

Thanks,

Cannot delete user profiles "Sorry, this site hasn't been shared with you."

Hi all,

I'm unable to delete user profiles in my User Profile Service Application. Everything else seems to be working as expected with the UPA. I can create profiles manually, amend profiles etc. Full and incremental syncs with AD are working as expected.

But if I search for a user profile then try and delete from http://CentralAdmin:1234/_layouts/15/ProfMngr.aspx within Central Admin then I get the message "Sorry, this site hasn't been shared with you."

Looking at some of the messages in the ULS logs it looks like it's to do with permissions on my My Site site collection when deleting user photos:

Has anyone come across this before? I'm logged in and carrying out this operation using my "admin/setup" account which is a site collection administrator of mysite, has admin/full control of the User Profile Service Application. Even with DB owner permissions (UPA databases and My Site Content DB) I still get this problem.

Thanks.

Sharepoint 2013 Hosted Apps - External access with SSL and TMG 2012 without split-dns

Hi,

We have successfuly implemented Sharepoint Hosted Apps in our 2013 Farm.

Sharepoint Team sites are in ourdomain.com and Sharepoint Hosted Apps works in ourappdomain.com (separate domain). Routing web app works on address sp.ourappdomain.com and points to separate IP address than team sites (SSL limitation).

Both domain on SSL - it was very hard, lots of issues with routing web app and SSL.

But now we need to implement also external access for Sharepoint Apps.

The problem is with our lack of split dns - we have to implement external apps in another domain ourexternalappdomain.com and also it should be physically implemented on TMG 2010.

Does anyone have any idea how to force Sharepoint Apps to work with two domain? Some powershell scipts or something? TMG configuration should be easy but normally sharepoint apps works only with one domain, how to reconfigure apps to work with two domains?

SQL Server Reporting Services SharePoint Integrated mode - Power View is not supported

$

Hi there,

My environment is the following:

  • SharePoint Server 2013
  • SQL Server 2012 SP1 Enterprise edition

I am getting the following message when trying to open BISM item with PowerView icon:

"The feature: "Power View" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services."

My problem is that the first time I installed SQL Server Reporting Services SharePoint integrated, I used the SQL Server 2012 Standard edition ISO. But then I learned that Power View is only available with Enterprise and BI editions. So I uninstalled Reporting Services Add-in from Control Panel, Reporting Services from the installation media and deleted the three Reporting DBs in the SharePoint DB server.

Then I used SQL Server 2012 SP1 Enterprise media to install again Reporting Services but not sure why I am still getting the message:

"The feature: "Power View" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services."

Anyone can advice me what could be the problem? Maybe I have not complete deleted  the previous SQL Server Reporting Service Share Point integrated mode from the previous installation? What would be the proper way to uninstall Reporting Services?

Any help will be welcome.

Thanks and best regards,

Joss

PowerView not working as the edition is standard

Hi All,

The powerview is not working on Sharepoint.

The SQL Server was installed in standard edition and the sharepoint application was configured. Power view is not working because of the SQL version limitation.

"The feature: "Power View" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services."

we upgraded to enterprise edition, no luck. then we reinstalled the reporting server but still showing the same error.

one blog suggested me to uninstall the SQL Server all components and redo from scratch.

Any suggestions, is there any way to make it work without reinstallation.

Thanks,

Ramu

Migration to 2013: "Object reference not set to an instance of object".

Hi there,

I´m currently migrating fromSharePoint 2007 (via 2010) to 2013 by attaching thecontent databases.

Before i wanted to migrate the last websitecollection, I startedthe integrity checkin the sitesettings;there were somewarnings about document templates(template.doc). So I replaced the templates by a new one. After re-performing the integrity check, no errors were displayed.

After starting the upgrade processI checked the timerjob, which is respnsoble for migrating the websitecollecteion.
The error was :"Object referencenot set toan instance of object".

Because the error is not really informative,I wanted to ask if anyone knows (from experience),where the problem could be?

Hardware and software specifications design for a SharePoint Server 2013

Dear All,

I am working a designing hardware and software specifications for a SharePoint Server 2013 project with following details:

Users: 80-100

Physical Server (Production Environment)

Virtual Machines

RAM

Processor

VM1 (1 SharePoint Application Server with Central Administration)

16 GB

64-bit, 4 cores

VM2 (1 SharePoint front end server)

12 GB

64-bit, 4 cores

VM3 (1 SQL Server)

16 GB

64-bit, 4 cores

Physical Server (UAT Environment)

VM4 (1 SharePoint Application Server with Central Administration)

16 GB

64-bit, 4 cores

VM5 (1 SharePoint front end server)

12 GB

64-bit, 4 cores

VM6 (1 SQL Server)

16 GB

64-bit, 4 cores

Operating System: Windows Server 2012 Datacenter

SharePoint Server: SharePoint Server Standard Edition

SQL Server: SQL Server 2012 or SQL Server 2012

  1.       I referred to SharePoint 2013 hardware and software system requirements and instead of minimum requirements for App, WFE and DB servers, I increased the specifications. I did same sizing for UAT environment as well.  Can somebody feedback for these specifications if they are okay with 80-users and provide good user experience?
  2.       We are also considering SQL Server 2014 as our back-end for SharePoint Server.  Can wechoose SQL Server 2014 instead of SQL Server 2012 for this design?
  3.       I set up 3 tier topology for proof of concept and had 1 WFE, 1 APP Server and 1 DB server. I set up the farm manually (not using Farm Wizard) and used bareminimum service applications on the 1 WFE with Central administration. Later I ran SharePoint Product wizard on 1 App server and did not run Central Administrator on this box. I was able to view the 1 WFE server on the APP server and created Search Service application on APP server.

My intention was to provision Search service application of the APP server instead. However, I when the Search service application was created on WFE and not App server.  Shall I start with APP server with Central Admin and then connect to WFE? Can please advise what I did wrong?

Thank you.

SharePoint 2013 Audience validation failed for site

I currently have a test SharePoint 2013 environment and recently run into a problem with the Content Type Hub.  I have deleted the old content type hub (http://contenttypehub), the database the site was in and the Managed Metadata Service associated with it.  I have recreated the MMS with a new content type hub site (http://contenttypes).

When creating Host Named Site Collections I get the "sorry something went wrong" error and the below is in the ULS log.

It looks like this is looking for the old site but I cannot fins anywhere to change this behaviour.

Any insight/help appreciated.

Thanks

Andrew

Configuring Apps externally for SharePoint 2013

$

Hi,

I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction with this. I have configured the SharePoint store on 2013 internally which is working fine. It's currently set to app.intranetapps.ie and I followed the Technet article on the same topic.

Recently however, we have gotten certificates to allow our SharePoint environment to be accessible outside of our VPN connection. So, users just browse to the new URL that we have and they just need to put in their Windows Credentials and they are in.

My question is in relation to the app store. The new external address is working fine and is accessible from outside our network. However, the apps aren't working obviously. Is there anything that I can do to get this working or do we have to buy a domain as stated on the technet article and then get a wildcard certificate for that domain? My problem is that we already purcahsed the standard certificates so I was hoping that these could just be modified to include something like intranetapps.ie or whatever it will be.

I honestly have no experience with certificates so I really need someone to explain this to me. Internally when you load the page, it works fine. Externally, it loads everything apart from any third party apps which comes up as page cannot be displayed.

The old Web Application name was http://intranet13, the new name for example, which I will be renaming the Web Application to is sharepoint.intranet.ie which works as I have it as an alternate access mapping at the moment.

Please help?

Hi,

does anybody know what SRM_Search_Index is? I assume its related to SharePoint but it's not a database I have ever heard of before.

Site Collection URL is not working

I am totally new to share-point and am still studying this. I just deployed my own sharepoint and here is what i am facing now.

I have created a web application and site collection with the path of intranet.mydomain.com. with port number 4343 I have chosen that port cuz i already have my exchange infrastructure that the outlook web app is using port 443 already and my router is forwarding port443 to excahnge server for owa access from internet. My internal domain is .local

I have created site collections under the path intranet.mydomain.com which is my web application and then intranet.mydomain.com/main is explicit site collection. everything is setup but now that I am trying to access the link intranet.mydomain.com or intranet.mydomain.local it says page cant be displayed.

for ourside access I have created a A record in my external DNS for intranet which makes intranet.mydomain.com point to my router public IP and forwarded port 4343 (which is the port I selceted while created the web application in sharepoint) to sharepoint server IP. now if i access intranet.mydomain.com from outside it opens up my outlook web app which means it is beign forwarded by my router to exchange server.

What i have done wrong in here? is there an miss config cuz my internal domain is .local and i have configured web application and site collections wrong? or what is happening? in IIS i checked and site binding is fine too just according to what is configured by sharepoint.

thanks in advance for the help and detailed guidance
