Show Exchange groups in Sharepoint 2013 online

$

Hi everyone!

I need some help to show Exchange groups in a list in Sharepoint 2013.

Both are online version (office365). Until now the only I have successfully done is connect the list to my outlook account but that is not what I am looking for.

The idea is show the groups in a list and quickly select a group to send email.

Is there some way to get the groups in Sharepoint 2013 list?

Thank you!!!

Authentication for external content type

Hi,

We are developing the portal which is related science domain.

Portal uses BCS to access data from external systems.

The SQL Server is on different physical server when the solution is deployed to a production environment. The solution uses SQL Server sqla to connect the database. The BCS is configured and is running on the production environment.

I am configuring authentication for the external content type in the production environment.

So first I am creating Secure Store Service application as a target application.

Added the user login to the Secure Store Service.

Now should I connect to the external data source by using Impersonated Windows Identity or Impersonated Custom Identity?

Please share your ideas/thoughts on the same.

I have SharePoint 2013 and need for integrating to Cognos (don't know exact version yet). Basically I needs to see graphs.  I can imagine that there are 10 webparts and each containing one graph.

1) Where I can find webparts for Cognos? (I'm assuming that this is only easy way to integrate. Please advice me if I'm wrong)

2) How deep Cognos skill is need for SharePoint admin/developer to connect to Cognos? How difficult it to configure web parts?

3) Any restriction what cannot be brought to SharePoint from Cognos?

Sharepoint 2013 - Search service not working

We have set the search service application to crawl incrementally. The crawls are taking a long time. The content is not vast over the single farm but we do have a few sizable document libraries, lists and media assets. Suggestions as to what to check again first? New-SPWOPIBinding Failing with "The server did not respond"

I am currently attempting to create a binding between my SharePoint environment and our Office Web Apps server.

I am able to connect to the Office Web Apps server when I allow HTTP connections (on both the Web Apps Server and the SharePoint server) and create the binding using the -AllowHTTP command but am unable to connect to the server when trying over HTTPS.

I have created a DigiCert UCC certificate for the Office Web Apps server that uses the common name of the DNS CNAME entry for the Office Web Apps server (owas.contoso.com) and includes the FQDN of the server in the SAN (saowas.contoso.local).

I can ping the Office Web Apps server from the SharePoint server and can hit https://owas.contoso.com/hosting/discovery over HTTPS from the SharePoint server, and have disabled the firewalls on both servers.

When I attempt to run New-SPWOPIBinding -Servername "owas.contoso.com"on the SharePoint server it quickly gives me the WARNING: The server did not respond.  Trying again (attempt 1 of 5)errors.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have setup multiple Audiences and mapped them to AD security groups (with 3+ users in each) with user rules. I run a full profile sync, compile audience, click view members and see no members listed.

Any ideas?

How to grant permissions to a group in SharePoint 2013?

$

How can I grant permissions on a site to a SharePoint group already created?

Complete scenario:

You already have a SharePoint group created and populated it with several users or AD groups.

Now you want to grant this group a permission level on a website. In SharePoint 2010 I would go to theSite permissions, click Grant Permissions, search for the group and select a permission level. This does not work in SharePoint 2013 anymore. When I clickGrant Permissions and enter a group, SharePoint does not ask for a permission level, but tries to add the group to the Members group of the site. This fails, if I entered a SharePoint group, because - as we all know - SharePoint groups, cannot be nested.

The same button on a list, library or folder works as similar to SharePoint 2010 and allows me to grant a permission level to a SharePoint group. But how to do this on site level?

So the question is: How can I grant a permission level to a SharePoint group on site level?

Access request page error "Failed to decline request"

Greetings,

I have a site collection that is throwing an odd error when a site admin or farm administrator attempts to "decline" an access request, it fails with "Failed to decline request" message.  I have not been able to duplicate the error on any other site collection. I have reviewed the ULS logs and Server logs and have not been able to identify any event or error that corresponds with the failure to decline. Any idea which of the ULS logging features should be turned to verbose to identify the issue?

Thanks

How to Create My Site by using MY SITE HOST template?

Hello,

Can I get Help regarding Issues which I was facing while creating MySite with MY SITE HOST template SharePoint 2013.

Error which I was facing in Event Viewer is:-

SharePoint 2013 Service Pack 1 broke Explorer View (WebDAV)?

We recently installed SharePoint 2013 Service Pack 1 and have since been troubled by Explorer View. Very often Explorer View doesn't work. This error often appears:

"We're having a problem opening this location in File Explorer. Add this web site to your Trusted Sites list and try again."

The weird thing is that sometimes the Explorer View works just fine, but more often it doesn't. There's are a lot of blogs / topics about this on the internet, but they all didn't help resolve this issue. We use persistent cookies for our STS (AllowSessionCookies == false), we've added the site to Trusted Sites, made sure WebClient service is running on the clients, cleared cookie caches, etc., etc.

Explorer View works fine when we connect to Office 365 instances. But our local farm has these problems. We use ADFS auth.

Our problems actually resemble the problems this guy had:

http://blog.skadefro.dk/2011/09/sharepoint-2010-and-webdav.html

But his fix doesn't seem to apply to us.

This all started after installing Service Pack 1, so could this be a Service Pack 1 issue?

Office Web App error

I have setup my Office Web App Environment following the following article. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff431687.aspx#oauth

This is a production environment with HTTPS.  I can go to https://URL/hosting/discovery  and it pulls up the XML like it should.

The setup seemed to go well but when I try to open the docs up from SharePoint I get he following errors.

When opening a Word Doc: "Sorry, there was a problem and we can't open this document. If this happens again, try opening the document in Microsoft Word"

When opening a PowerPoint Doc: "Sorry, we couldn't open this presentation because we ran into a problem. Please try again."

When opening a Excel Doc: "We couldn't find the file you wanted. It's possible the file was renamed, moved or deleted."

I see suggestions for AllowOAthOverHttp but did not set this because it is HTTP.  I also have the zone set to external-HTTPS.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Thank you,

Can't Login to SharePoint as an invited External User / Can't Remove All Traces of External User with Microsoft Account

Hi TechNet,

I have an MS SharePoint Online (SharePoint Plan 2) team site, quite simple, one document library etc.

I have successfully added all users (E3) within the organisation to groups, and permissioned correctly.

I have added myself (separate organisation, also Office 365 E3) as an External User, and have access to the website without any problems by authenticating with my Organization account e-mail address.

I have a single user (separate organisation, also Office 365 E3), who's setup is identical to mine (Also Office 365 E3).

However, when this user is added as an External User, they are unable to login, and get "Sign In is not complete":

That didn't work
We're sorry, but CLIENT2@CLIENT2DOMAIN.com.au can't be found in the CLIENT1.sharepoint.com directory. Please try again later, while we try to automatically fix this for you.

URL: https://CLIENT1.sharepoint.com/
User: ross@v16.com.au
Issue Type: Partner User Invalid.

I then remove the user using the Site Collection, and using the PRofile Manager, and using Remove-SPOUser, and using Remove-SPOExternalUser. Which is great, he's gone. However when I go to add him back to a group, as soon as I type his e-mail address, it 'Resolves' into his full name! If I have completely(?) removed him form the site, how is he being resolved? And therefore me trying to remove him to re-add him to try and solve the user/directory/auth issue is not working.

Furthermore, upon clicking on said client's username inside SharePoint (after I've 'added him back' of course), his ID, in format: i:0#.f|membership|live.com#EMAIL@ADDRESS.net.au has an entirely different e-mail address, his Microsoft Account!

I'm assuming he must have been already signed into his Microsoft Account when he clicked on the External User e-mail invite? If so, I clearly do not want this, how can I remove lal traces of his Microsoft Account, given that I have gone to the lengths as detailed above?

I have already completed these steps: http://community.office365.com/en-us/forums/148/p/228263/709905.aspx

Some possible further reading regarding Microsoft ID's and Organization ID's:

Evanly.

Adding only certain OU to SharePoint

$

We are currently facing an issue due to the way our AD is setup where we have two OUs that basically contain duplicate data of each other, plus a third OU that contains users external to the organization. We are trying to find some way for SharePoint to only use two of those three OUs, but so far we have not been able to find a solution and have had to include all three OUs. This causes users to see duplicate names in people pickers, and one of the two names is not valid and the user really has no way to tell the difference.

Is there any known ways to tell SharePoint which OUs it should be including and which it should be excluding?

Configuring Access Requests in SharePoint 2013

$

Hello everyone. we built our SP2013 farm last year and just now taking a deep dive into it. One of the issues I have run into, is the site access request notifications. I can see the requests in SharePoint and grant access from there but no email notifications are generated. After looking into it for several day and even working with MS Premier Support for over two weeks, this still remains unresolved. MS also engaged their Exchange engineer who couldn't find any requests coming into Exchange.

Per MS recommendations, Incoming E-mail Service and SMTP is enabled on only one web frontend server in the farm. Any help at this point would be appreciated. Thanks.

Configuring PerformancePoint Service and other BI when you're on an O365 Sharepoint site

Sharepoint online is great. Easy to use. relatively stable. But I cannot find any protocol, in absence of having access to Central Administration (how I wish I did), to configure PPS and other elements I need to begin leveraging reporting and dashboards. Does anyone know how I do this? Do I have to hand feed the steps to some CIM Sharepoint Tier engineer to execute for me? Or is there another way.
