SharePoint 2013 Service Pack 1 broke Explorer View (WebDAV)?

$

0

We recently installed SharePoint 2013 Service Pack 1 and have since been troubled by Explorer View. Very often Explorer View doesn't work. This error often appears:

"We're having a problem opening this location in File Explorer. Add this web site to your Trusted Sites list and try again."

The weird thing is that sometimes the Explorer View works just fine, but more often it doesn't. There's are a lot of blogs / topics about this on the internet, but they all didn't help resolve this issue. We use persistent cookies for our STS (AllowSessionCookies == false), we've added the site to Trusted Sites, made sure WebClient service is running on the clients, cleared cookie caches, etc., etc.

Explorer View works fine when we connect to Office 365 instances. But our local farm has these problems. We use ADFS auth.

Our problems actually resemble the problems this guy had:

http://blog.skadefro.dk/2011/09/sharepoint-2010-and-webdav.html

But his fix doesn't seem to apply to us.

This all started after installing Service Pack 1, so could this be a Service Pack 1 issue?

ProfileService.svc EndPointFailure when executing Move-SPUser

SharePoint 2013 Enterprise RTM:

When executing the Move-SPUser command from Powershell as a Farm Administrator, I get an error "Move-SP-User : Object reference not set to an instance of an object."  In the server event log, I see this error:

A failure was reported when trying to invoke a service application: EndpointFailure Process Name: powershell_ise Process ID: 11748 AppDomain Name: PowerShell_ISE.exe AppDomain ID: 1 Service Application Uri: urn:schemas-microsoft-com:sharepoint:service:50baf6201c054267b3772859e6ab1f44#authority=urn:uuid:19ff6f2723434911aba458075faf4d2c&authority=https://<machinename>:32844/Topology/topology.svc Active Endpoints: 1 Failed Endpoints:1 Affected Endpoint: http://<machinename>:32843/50baf6201c054267b3772859e6ab1f44/ProfileService.svc

When I browse to that link, I get a 404 page saying "Resource cannot be found".   In IIS, when I explore to the Service Application folder, I do not see a Profile.svc file.  I see a FeedCacheService.svc, ProfileDBCacheService.svc, and ProfilePropertyService.svc file.

There are 2 WFE servers, both give the same error on the Move-SPUser command.  The User Profile Service Application is started and running without other errors pulling in user profiles from Active Directory.  Is this a missing file or configuration issue?  I used the SharePoint Farm Wizard to initially setup the Service Applications.

Hi,

I'm trying to upgrade a site collection to 2013 mode (tried both PS and GUI) and it fails. One of the errors is:

It seems it is the publishing feature. I checked the site in 2010 mode before upgrade and this feature was enabled and I tried manually activating this feature on the broken (upgrade failed) 2013 site and I got the same error again.

This prevents the site from upgrading to 2013, has anyone come across a similar error?

Manoj

Authentication Planning - deploying SAML Authentication for Intranet and Extranet?

$
0
0

Hi Everyone,

Our environment consists of ADDS and ADFS.

I'm trying to determine if it would be appropriate for our organization to standardize on one authentication provider (ie: SAML authentication) for both intranet and extranet access.

Right away, I can identify one advantage, that is it would make permission administration easier - for example: apply only SAML level permissions verses SAML together with NTLM/Kerberos for a single user in order for he/she to access the SharePoint resource inside and outside.

I like to understand how other organizations which require their employees to have both Intranet and Extranet access handle this problem? Is it common to implement NTLM/Kerberos on the intranet and SAML/Forms for extranet access? If so, when you apply permissions to a website, I'm assuming you have to apply multiple permissions for the same user for the same resource?

Appreciate any advice. Thank you.

Sharepoint 2013 Claims Based Authentication And Azure ACS - Windows Live Id Redirects back to Sign In

Hi,

I have configured my SharePoint 2013 (on the windows Azure platform) for claims based authentication. I have followed the below mentioned links to acheive it throuhg ACS.

http://blogs.technet.com/b/speschka/archive/2013/05/10/integrating-sharepoint-2013-with-azure-active-directory-part-1-configuration.aspx

http://www.wictorwilen.se/Post/Visual-guide-to-Azure-Access-Controls-Services-authentication-with-SharePoint-2010-part-1.aspx

In Wictor's link, the Poweshell SharePoint commands maps with the emailaddress claims (which works fine with Google and Yahoo) whereas in Steve's link, all the mappings for the claims are provided.

I have mapped emailaddress claims for Google and Yahoo and UPN (nameidentifier) claims for Windows Live ID. Everything works fine with Yahoo and Google account but I am redirected back to login page with windows Live id. Has anyone face the similar issues.

I've encountered this on 3 different SharePoint 2013 farms, and it also works correctly on another.  I can't figure out why or what the differences are.

Anyone else seen this or have a solution?

Edit Item in Sharepoint 2013 Custom List with Group By - Item goes away in view

$
0
0

I am wondering if anyone has ran into this and if this is a known bug.

I have created a CUSTOM LIST in SharePoint 2013.  In this list I have created a VIEW based on the ALL ITEMS view that has a GROUP BY in it.  I am GROUPING BY TWO columns in the LIST.

I can add items to this list with no problem.  When they are displayed the all are group correctly and I can collapse and expand each of my groups.  I also have a TOTAL Sum on one of the fields so I can sum within one of the GROUPS.

I have a couple of problems - the first one being

When I do a EDIT ITEM based on clicking on the three ... to the right of one of my columns, this then brings up the entire form which I then can change a column within the record.  Once I change a field - no matter if it is a viewable field or not when I go back to the list this record is no longer displayed.  It will still show the Grouping header and what the value of that group is but it will not show the record at all.

I then go back in create a new view which does not have any grouping at all on it.  And the Record reappears.  This record also appears when I do an Export to Excel also.  This has totally baffled me.

The second issue which I am not as worried about, is that when I create a custom list with Groupings if I try to do a Quick Edit from the ribbon. The Quick Edit is grayed out. I go into Advanced Settings within the List Settings and "Allow items in this list to be edited using Quick Edit" is set to YES so that is not the issue.

I did want to add, that if I go into the VIEW and change the "BY DEFAULT, SHOW GROUPINGS"

in the GROUP BY setting to Expanded instead of the COLLAPSED as it was originally, the RECORD comes back again.   But when I change it back to Collapsed it goes away.

Hopefully, this is old news for someone and you have a solution for me out there.

When I set up a new view for the list and choose "Total"  - Sum, on the actual view in front of each calculated number I have "sum = " label. How can I get rid of it?

There is a solution for 2010 which doesn't work on SP 2013.

Do you know how this can be accomplished in SharePoint 2013

I plan to follow this document, http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff621100(v=office.15).aspx, to set up the Provider and Consumer

Will I get into trouble regarding my SharePoint 2010 consumer environment that do not use Claims Based Authentication for web applications in this farm?

Access Services 2013 issue

Hi,

I have set-up Access Services 2013 and it's working well on a couple of non SSL web app's.

We have another 2 web app's that are configured for SSL and unfortunately Access custom web app's are not working on these.

The access app is created but when I try to browse to it IO get prompted for username and password and then I just get a white page.  Can anyone help?

On the SSL sites, I was originally getting a http 404 error page but using the below article I created a new web app with no host header and setup for SSL for routing to the app domain.

ShjarePoint 2013 enterprise, 3 server setup, DB-App-WFE, March 2013 PU installed.

Thanks
