Hello Everyone,
I am kind of new to Workflows...
I have a few documents in a Library (Which is in Site1). When I have User1 in the Site1 Members group (which is Contribute to the entire Site1 site) they can click on the document and select Workflow. Then proceed to select a workflow and start it.
However, I do not want User1 to have Contribute to the entire Site1. So I simply give them Contribute access to the library. However now when they click on the document to start the workflow they get "Sorry, you don't have access to this page".
Is there a way to give permissions for a user to start a Workflow without giving them Contribute permissions accross the site?
Thanks for any input.
When I execute backup-spfarm I get a message that the backup failed. In the logs there are several errors all relating specifically to search topology. I would love to do a backup and exclude search since I feel I can rebuild that fairly easily if the need arrises. So my question is: Would it be supported to use this backup file to restore the farm knowing full well that I will have to manually configure the search application. It looks like everything else gets backed up without issue.

I am wondering if anyone has ran into this and if this is a known bug.
I have created a CUSTOM LIST in SharePoint 2013. In this list I have created a VIEW based on the ALL ITEMS view that has a GROUP BY in it. I am GROUPING BY TWO columns in the LIST.
I can add items to this list with no problem. When they are displayed the all are group correctly and I can collapse and expand each of my groups. I also have a TOTAL Sum on one of the fields so I can sum within one of the GROUPS.
I have a couple of problems - the first one being
When I do a EDIT ITEM based on clicking on the three ... to the right of one of my columns, this then brings up the entire form which I then can change a column within the record. Once I change a field - no matter if it is a viewable field or not when I go back to the list this record is no longer displayed. It will still show the Grouping header and what the value of that group is but it will not show the record at all.
I then go back in create a new view which does not have any grouping at all on it. And the Record reappears. This record also appears when I do an Export to Excel also. This has totally baffled me.
The second issue which I am not as worried about, is that when I create a custom list with Groupings if I try to do a Quick Edit from the ribbon. The Quick Edit is grayed out. I go into Advanced Settings within the List Settings and "Allow items in this list to be edited using Quick Edit" is set to YES so that is not the issue.
I did want to add, that if I go into the VIEW and change the "BY DEFAULT, SHOW GROUPINGS"
in the GROUP BY setting to Expanded instead of the COLLAPSED as it was originally, the RECORD comes back again. But when I change it back to Collapsed it goes away.
Hopefully, this is old news for someone and you have a solution for me out there.
Hi
I have a request and need to hide (for now) the Access App feature in our SharePoint 2013 site collections. I understand that you can do this by set the Hidden value to False in feature.xml file of this feature.
My question is what the name of the folder of Access App in C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Web Server Extensions\15\TEMPLATE\FEATURES.
I looked under this and there is no Access App folder, could the name be something different?
Thanks for any answer to this question

Hi All
How do I identify and enumerate a list of certain URL links in a SharePoint site collection in order to make change?
Here is the background:
I am moving site collections from one farm to another and some of the links created on the source site collection are static (full path) URL like (http://abc.oldfarm.com/sites/teamsite/sharedocs/
).
After the site collection moved to the new farm, those static links need to be changed to (http://abc.newfarm/sites/teamsite/sharedocs/)
I am looking for some automatic tool or script to identify all links with prefixhttp://abc.oldfarm and change it to http://abc.newfarm if possible or at least to get the list and know where to go to make the change.
Thanks for any solution or advice on how to do this.

Looking for a listing of services or features in SharePoint 2013 that are dependent on the App Management Service Application being provisioned...
Anyone have a good list of what those are or could provide me one here? I want to make sure i'm not overlooking something as i weigh the pro's and con's of setting this service up.
Hi,
We have a Site Asset library in SharePoint 2013 for which we would like to connect it to the external storage or network shared drive. I read few articles related to RBS, most of them talks about using the same sql server hard drive as a external storage instead of Content Database. Here we would like to connect it to the shared drive which is completely on the different server. Is it possible?
My other question is what edition of SQL server do we need to have in order to enable the RBS?
Thanks in Advance

I have a 2013 environment that i have exposed to the internet using SSL and am working on the App Management Service Provisioning for this farm.
First Question is, will i need to buy a public domain name for the internal app DNS domain zone i have setup internally? what could be expected if i did not buy a domain for this need and a user was working with a site that had an app enabled?
Secondly, I have a production farm and development farm, when provisioning the app management service will i also need to setup a zone in DNS like i did for production (apps-mycompany.com) that is specifically for development (appsdev-mycompany.com)? or am i able to use the one zone i created for production to rule them all?
Hello,
I need something that will monitor all (custom c#) workflows, like what workflow started when, in which stage is in, when it finished, for what item the workflow started and so on. And this in farm level.
I need to monitor about 700 sites, each running several workflows (through workflow manager). I don't know if this the right group, because we'll use workflow manage 1.0
My only solution I could find is to make workflow to write to a DB and then query the database
Are there any outthere?
Thank you
Christos
I'm trying to start my UPSS and it stuck on "starting" action in Admin console, but FIM Synchronization Service is started.
I already read few good articles like http://www.harbar.net/articles/sp2010ups2.aspx#ups13 but.. In log viewer I see: "User Profile Application: SynchronizeMIIS encounters an exception: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.UserProfileImportJob.<>c__DisplayClass2.<IsTimerJobRunning>b__1() at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPSecurity.<>c__DisplayClass5.<RunWithElevatedPrivileges>b__3() at Microsoft.SharePoint.Utilities.SecurityContext.RunAsProcess(CodeToRunElevated secureCode) at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPSecurity.RunWithElevatedPrivileges(WaitCallback secureCode, Object param) at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPSecurity.RunWithElevatedPrivileges(CodeToRunElevated secureCode) at Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.UserProfileImportJob.IsTimerJobRunning(UserProfileApplicationJob timerJob) at Microsoft.Office.ServerAdministration.UserProfileApplication.SynchronizeMIIS() at Microsoft.Office.Server.Administration.ILMProfileSynchronizationJob.Execute()" So i read this article: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/pt-BR/60d1a022-6fb6-43f3-af78-cfd3e88e9bdb/cant-start-user-profile-sync-service?forum=sharepointadmin I think I don’t actually understand the solution: "So to fix it I
Any ideas?
Hi there,
I just finished installing PowerPivot on SharePoint 2013 and now I have a site collection for PowerPivot which appears all fine. So far so good.
BUT
What I need to do next? Where? What? To show data from an SQL table in external database?
Any tutorial will be appreciated.
Thanks.
We are rolling out SharePoint 2013 online (cloud). Unfortunately, we have users who are getting an error when ever they go to a sharepoint page in IE (version 8 is our current standard version). I'm going to try and give as much info as possible, but here is the short description first:
Short description: Some users (both on XP and Win 7) with IE 8 (8.0.6001 on xp and 8.0.7601 on Win7) get an error that causes the suite navigation (Navigation elements like SkyDrive and Sites in the blue bar at the top) to not load.
Details:
Error (this one from an xp machine, but its similar on win7)
Developer tools debugging error:
Highlighted: b.ontimeout=g
Error: Object doesn't support this property or method sposuitenav.js?rev=9NrN%2FQjr08jHbbFVnfXv6A%3D%3D, line 1 character 1143
Work around:
For some reason, if you run the debugger, and then "Continue" after the error, the navigation will load fine with no errors on the page. It will continue to work fine until the user clears their cookies manually.
Most of our users do NOT get this error, but we only have a small pilot group so far and this is a show stopper since we need to roll out to 5000 users eventually.
Note: The following sites are in the trusted site zone for all users, those who are experiencing this and those who are not:
*.microsoftonline.com
*.sharepoint.com
*.sharepointonline.com

One of our AD domains is being retired. After configuration for both, we need to change to only point to one domain. Is running the following advisable to fix?

I am having issues in accessing a SP 2013 site that I created on port 80. This site should actually be visible by everyone but I can't even see it, and I created it. I keep getting 'Sorry, this site hasn't been shared with you.' even though I did share it with myself.
I have tried removing then adding myself as the site collection admin, clearing the Distributed Cache, clearing the bindings.... You name it, I've done it.
Hi,
I was following this article http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee748631(v=office.15).aspx#provision in order to provision the BLOB Store for Content Database, in the step no.6 and the third SQL query, it is asking me to create a folder under “C” directory called ‘Blobstore’ which is on the same SQL server but here I would like to use some other remote server or network shared drive other than current SQL database server in order to provision ‘Blobstore’. Please advise if it is possible?
Just FYI my client is not ready to use any third party tools in order to do any configuration.<o:p></o:p>
Thanks in advance
