Hello,

My Sharepoint Server is configured for tenant. I followed the instruction of harbar.net. Most works fine and some things esp. User Profile Service better as in unpartitioned mode.

One of my tenant wanted to use Access 2013 App. Installation fails with "Access denied: Secure Store Service".

Any hints?

STSADM -o import fails on huge data

Hello Guys,

I am currently migrating a huge SharePoint site (1T of data with 5000+ users). In the process of the migration, I am also doing a "reparenting" process (child site moved to parent site). I have tried the stsadm export/import command. After several days of running the script. I am encountering this problem in the import:

FatalError: The content has expired and can no longer be used. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80090317)

The import.log shows the following exception:

at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPGlobal.HandleComException(COMException ComEx) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequest.SetHttpParameters(String bstrHttpMethod, String bstrRequestDigest, UInt32 flags, Guid gTranLockerId, Byte[]& ppsa ....

I searched on the forums about the Error code and it has some problem with the tokens. I have tried their suggestions by tweaking the "web page security validation" in the central admin but it did not work. So can anyone help me how to fix this? Or is this a limitation of STSADM?

Thanks in advance!

SharePoint Online monitoring tools and options

With On-Premise SharePoint 2013, we really have 4 channels for monitoring: Central Admin reports, ULS, powershell cmdlets for monitoring and finally SCOM.

None of these seems available with SPO. So as a SP Admin, what can i do for performing preventative monitoring and what tools do Misrosoft offer?

Understand that monitoring things like % CPU usage or DDisk IO are not relevant for SPO because that is handled by Microsoft. However, is there any alerting/notification mechanism for things like service degradation, planned maintenance, performance degradation, number of hits per site collection, hits per page, cache hits/miss, etc?

Upgrading Service Applications - Stuck in PowerShell

I have a dev environment setup for testing the upgrade from 2010 to 2013 and I'm stuck at the "Upgrade Service Applications" step.  I am running the PowerShell command to create the Secure Store service application, per the instructions on TechNet, but I get an error that the database already exists.

Error:  New-SPSecureStoreSerivceApplication : A SharePoint database namedSecureStoreServiceDBRestore already exists.  You must supply another name for the new database.

Where: SecureStoreServiceDBRestore is the name of the database copied over from the 2010 environment.   I just took the previous nights backups of the SecureStore DB in 2010 and copied it to the new environment and then restored it (using SQL Mgmt Studio) and changed the name in the process - the old name had the GUID in it and I wanted something a little easier for testing.

How does this command upgrade the database for the secure store applicaiton if it wants the name of the one copied over from the 2010 environment but throws an error that it already exists?

Or, what step/setting/part of the process am I missing or overlooking?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Hi, I have configured My Site in SharePoint 2013 with below other services:

  • Managed Metadata Service
  • Search Service Application
  • User Profile Service Application
  • Work Management Service Application

But whenever users go to their my site and click on task section it’s not showing assigned task to them, it’s displaying that “Last updated at 1/1/1901 12:00 AM” with yellow icon and while clicking on icon message is “Sorry, we're having trouble refreshing your tasks. Contact your administrator if you continue to have problems.

What I missed?

Hi,

there are some issue with our UAT server, problems deplying and its out of sync with live. Tried fixed the deployment but cannot so far.

Will it be possible to clone the live server and create a new UAT environment. What about the issues with the URLs being different. Also I heard there are some issues with SIDS. Have anyone got experience of doing this?
Thanks.

List permissions for users

I have a list on the root site and a content search web part on a sub site.
This content search displays a few items from the list on the root site.
The problem is that users may NOT see the entire list on the root site, but they have to see the results of the content search (on sub site).

Is this possible?
Thanks

SharePoint Store 2013 - Exception details: System.UriFormatException: Invalid URI: The format of the URI could not be determined.

I've been struggling with SharePoint Store last 2 weeks and I'm unable to get it working. I've configured the whole 2013 without problem and this is driving me nuts.

Environment is 1 server, including the SQL. It's installed directly as full instalation, version 15.0.4481.1005, App management service and subscription service are running as they should be, they've been recreated from scratch following the guides on MS and Chris Whiteheads one. Every single check says that they are ok, up and running. I've wiped out the web app with host headers and now I'm using the standard one, without HH. Domain for apps is configured as per MS advice, and it's subdomain. I can install app to catalog and deploy them wherever I want.

The issue is when I click on SharePoint Store - i get the message: "Sorry,we are not able to connect to Store, please try again later." (it's not the exact one). the ULS shows this:

Sending Request to Office.com with the followingURL:?lc=cs%2DCZ&type=3&build=15%2E0%2E4420%2E1017&av=OSU150&origin=EC101785291&corr=%7B89bc169c%2Db001%2D3005%2Dd523%2D6fec28629aa2%7D

Maybe marketplace settings are not setup. Exception details: System.UriFormatException: Invalid URI: The format of the URI could not be determined.

Response from office.com was null or its HTTP status code was not 'OK'.

An exception was thrown while running task 'GetOfficeMarkets'. Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: Omlouváme se, ale nemůžeme se připojit k SharePoint Store. Zkuste to za chvilku znovu.

I've just can't find the solution. Everything else is working, including the User Profile service...

How do I remove the Last Name field from a sharepoint 2013 contact list.

It is populated from the Title field in an ITEM content type however it doesnt seem possible to remove this or change whether it is required. Also there doesnt appear to be any validation showing that it is a required field even when shown on the entry form?

SharePoint 2013 Content Database Upgrade hangs on 4.22%

Hi,

I am currently in the process of upgrading my SharePoint 2010 environment by using the Database attach method.

Everything has been going fine until I have come to attach and upgrade my largest content database which is 125gig. I have attached four other databases with no problems at all and they have upgraded and are available in my 2013 environment.

When I run the following command in SharePoint management shell - "Mount-SPContentDatabase-Name DatabaseName -DatabaseServer ServerName-WebApplication URL"

It shows as 4.22% : SPContentDatabase Name - <Name of Database>

This then hangs and does not complete. I have left it for a full 24 hours and it did not complete. I did read somewhere due to the size of the transaction files whilst the update is taking place needs at least three times the space of the database which the disk does have.

Has anyone else come across this issue?

Thanks,

Jord

SharePoint 2013 - SHarePoint Server Search - Error Starting

Hi,

I am currently trying to run a database attach upgrade from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013.

I am following the Microsoft article on how to do this and I am coming across an issue when trying to Start the SharePoint Server Search via powershell.

I run the following command with no issues;

$SearchInst = Get-SPEnterpriseSearchServiceInstance
Start-SPServiceInstance $SearchInst

Although when I then log into Central administrator it is showing as the server in the state of "error Starting"

The OS is server 2012 and I have looked around online and can see some people where having a similar issue and running the latest windows updates resolved this. These updates don't seem to be applicable for server 2012.

Is anyone able to point me in the right direction of getting this started?

Thanks,

Jordan Fillery

SharePoint Server 2013 - very slow in loading pages (frontend)

Hello, I have a problem.

I have install a SharePoint Server 2013 Enterprise. The enviroment:

1. Web-Front-End Server with 4 Core, 12 GB RAM, SSD (WS2012, SharePoint 2013 RTM + CU March 2013)

2. Backend SQL Server 2012 with 3 Core, 10 GB RAM, SSD (WS2012 + last Update)

The central administration page works fine, how sharepoint 2010.

The problem, when I access a web application, every site (main site, sub site, document library, ...), every action need 2 - 3 seconds. On the right side is the popup information "is in work ...". No CPU or SSD/HDD usage.

I have found the problem in the internet, but no solutions work.

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointitpropreview/thread/16cebde9-da9e-43a2-9d6a-656693ab65c5

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/14287.sharepoint-2013-how-to-improve-speed-on-sharepoint-2013-en-us.aspx

1. I have set the maximum of the noderunner from 0 to 128 (no solution)

2. I have disable the two search services (no solution)

3. I have export and import the trusted root certificate for the 3 certificates for sharepoint, no solution.

I need help. Does anyone know theproblem?

I'm trying to install a SharePoint 2013 RTM stand-alone server on a Windows 2012 Server machine, with (SQL 2008 R2)Database, Application Server and Web Server roles.

This is going to be a lab/ R&D/ Development environment.

I am planning to install :

~Visual Studio 2012

~Office 2013

 ~SharePoint Designer 2013

Most of my application development is targeted around InfoPath forms, Web Parts, Lists, Libraries and alsoSocial Features

I have looked at the relevant stuff - Hardware/Software requirements for SharePoint Server 2013 in Microsoft & other sites,but I could not comprehend the information as whole specific to this requirement.

I would appreciate if somebody could help me with the information for the above mentioned setup.

Thanks in advance.

Workflow Manager - Setup question

$

I have installed SQL server 2012 express and sharepoint 2013 on a windows 2008 server. I did this to "kick the tires" on the newest sharepoint version. I had previously chosen the development option but I always got stuck in the same spot. Workflow manager. Specifically in registering the workflow service.

I am a newbie so I apologize if this is something relatively simple. I have tried numerous things to try and get 2013 workflows running on the server but I have not been successful. When I open up a site in designer and click on workflows, I only see 2010 workflows, and underneath that, I see "the option for the sharepoint 2013 workflow platform is not available because the workflow service is not configured on the server. Please contact your service administrator."

I have tried to register the workflow service using both http, and https. I did not check 'allow http' during workflow setup, but the site collection opens with HTTP://myservername/sites/workflows, so I added https to this site in IIS.

When I check the workflow management site in IIS, under browse web site, it says browse *:12290 (https). When I click on browse, it brings up an IE browser window and the URL is https://localhost:12290. It says that there is a problem with this website's security certificate. The security certificate presented by this website was issued for a different website's address.

When I click on continue to this website, this appears on the page.

Root Scope2013-05-09T17:33:00.6172013-05-09T17:33:00.617/Microsoft.Workflow.Management.Security.WindowsSecurityConfigurationBUILTIN\AdministratorsActive

 There is a little popup at the bottom saying that only secure content is displayed. When I click on show all content, this is what appears on the page:

<?xml version="1.0"?>
-<ScopeInfo xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/workflow/2012/xaml/activities" xmlns:i="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"><DefaultWorkflowConfiguration/><Description>Root Scope</Description><LastModified>2013-05-09T17:33:00.617</LastModified><LastRevised>2013-05-09T17:33:00.617</LastRevised><Path>/</Path>-<SecurityConfigurations>-<ScopedSecurityConfiguration i:type="WindowsSecurityConfiguration"><Name>Microsoft.Workflow.Management.Security.WindowsSecurityConfiguration</Name><WorkflowAdminGroupName>BUILTIN\Administrators</WorkflowAdminGroupName></ScopedSecurityConfiguration></SecurityConfigurations><Status>Active</Status></ScopeInfo>

Being that this is all on the same server, maybe I am not putting in the right info. I input the following into sharepoint 2013 management shell, run as administrator:

register-spworkflowservice -spsite "https://sharepoint-ki3/sites/workflows" -workflowhosturi "https:localhost:12291"

I get the following error message:

register-spworkflowservice : The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send. Client ActivityId: e218b8a2-0655-4d09-8f4d-5cbc09f3ddf7. At line:1 char:1

+ register-spworkflowservice -spsite "https://sharepoint-ki2/sites/workflows"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
+ CategoryInfo: InvalidData (Microsoft.SHare...workflowservice:RegisterSPWorkflowservice) [Register-spworkflowservice], WorkflowCommunicationException.
+ FullyQualifiedErrorId: Microsoft.Sharepoint.WorkflowServices.Powershell.RegisterSPWorkflowService
Any idea how to resolve this? Should I just install workflow manager on another machine and be done with it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for checking this out.
Test-Spcontentdatabase Upgrade issue : Web application authentication type
Hi,
We have created a web application in Sharepoint 2013 which is a claims based authentication web application. We are trying to upgrade a sharepoint 2010 claims based authentication web application. When we run the test-spcontentdatabase command we get the following message
"The web application is configured to with cliams authentication mode however the content database you are trying to attach is intended to use against a windows classic authentication mode"
I found some information here : http://sadomovalex.blogspot.no/2012/10/problems-with-upgrading-claims-based.html
but found this process strange. How do we overcome the above error.
The specified user or domain group was not found. Sharepoint 2013
Hello,
I believe I have a permissions issue... but I'm not sure why or where....
We have sharepoint 2007 in use in our production environment, and are upgrading to 2013 by using database attach upgrade from 2007 > 2010 > 2013
Currently, I have a content database that was just Upgraded to 2010 and claims based authentication, and is functioning 100% in sharepoint 2010...
I copy the content database to 2013 and mount to the web application... and I cannot access this site collection in sharepoint 2013...  I am presented with the error message:
Go back to site
Error
Error
The specified user or domain group was not found.
Troubleshoot issues with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation.
Correlation ID: 9d9f1e9c-8ebb-e07b-bea3-56b5fe50fe4b
Date and Time: 5/24/2013 11:28:57 AM
If I try to go back to the site, or refresh the page, I get this error message again and again, but the correlation ID changes every time to something unique...
The very first time I did this migration was a few months ago... and everything functioned fine in 2013...
The data has changed and we had to migrate again...
Now I am getting this error with every site collection that we have upgraded from 2007>2010>2013
I have another Web application for MySites... This is functioning fine... Central Administration on another web application... functioning fine...
This makes me think it is a problem with the main web application...
so I created a site new site collection on the same web app...
The new site collection did not have the error... So I no longer think this is a web app issue... but if anyone has any ideas, I could use assistance...   When I search google... all of the results relate to problems accessing one particular function of some page in Central Administration... Whereas my problem is only when viewing any page of a site collection... and only of sites imported from 2007/2010
