A SharePoint site is currently configured for Claims Based Authentication. When asked to Sign In there are multiple selections for "Windows Authentication." If I select one of the choices, I am automatically signed in to the SharePoint site.

How do I remove the duplicate choices?

Workflow question

We are just setting up Sharepoint 2013.  But most of our people are on Office 2010.  We have one environment that is using Office 2013.  Here we have designer installed and created a workflow for 2013.

My question is about workflow in 2013.  If you create a workflow using Designer and you have Sharepoint 2013 and Office 2013, can someone who does not have Offfice 2010 update and work on the workflow?

Sharepoint 2013 Setup cannot continue...file is either corrupted or not available

Hi,

I'm trying to install evaluation copy of SP 2013 (downloaded from http://technet.microsoft.com/en-in/evalcenter/hh973397.aspx and converted to iso) on Windows Server 2012 with SQL Server 2012 SP1. After getting through with the prerequisite installer when I Launch the Setup it gives me the following error:

"Setup cannot continue because a required file is either corrupted or not available. Run setup again from original source disc or download location."

I ran sfc /scannow and no corruption was detected. I downloaded the setup img once again and converted it to iso format and I'm still getting the same error.

I've already checked suggestions offered at the following forums and the issue still persists, please help:

Anyone willing to walk me through troubleshooting this to see hat I missed/messed up?

Not sure where to begin.

I am just looking for a clear breakdown of the "best practices" for redundancy in a SharePoint 2013 environment.  Any advice/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Error: Access Denied on an upgraded content database from 2010 to sharepoint 2013 - claims based auth misery?

$

After I took a windows based authentication / content database and copied it from my sql instance for sp2010 and to a new instance.. then created a new web app on the new 2013 box.. which seems to be set to claims based authentication.. and ran the import of the sql db..

If I hit the intranet site I get access denied unless using the system account.

Does anyone know if i'm missing a step here.. I believe it may revolve around claims based authentication which isn't/wasnt used before.

Thanks in advance

Social Feeds and Follows don't correctly reflect AAM Config

Hi,

we have a SharePoint 2013 Setup with two zones, one for internal http use and one for external SSL secured access via FQDN (http://intranet and https://intranet.company.com). Everything is correctly translated like it was in the earlier versions of SharePoint. But the new Social Functions on the MySite Host are not recognizing this properly, they only use the Default Zone URL for rendering.

If I access SharePoint from the external URL and click on the link "Websites" in the Top Site Bar, I see the "Promoted Sites", "Sites I follow" and "Proposed to follow". Only the Proposal webpart correctly uses the external URLs, all others are linking to http://intranet.

Can anyone confirm this behaviour or maybe has a solution, what I have missed here?

Thanks!

RootSite and HNSC in SharePoint 2013

$

I was reading this TechNet article (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc424952.aspx) about Host-named site collection architecture and deployment and in reading it mentions that you need a root site in able to index content within the web application.  It then goes on to tell you how to create a root site collection but it looks no different than creating a normal HNSC.  Is there something specific that makes it a root site compared to any other HSNC you are creating?

Creating a root site collection:

New-SPSite 'http://rootsite.contoso.com' -HostHeaderWebApplication 'http://webapp.contoso.com' -Name 'Portal' -Description 'Portal on root' -OwnerAlias 'contoso\administrator' -language 1033 -Template 'STS#0'

Creating a HNSC:

New-SPSite 'http://portal.contoso.com' -HostHeaderWebApplication 'http://webapp.contoso.com' -Name 'Portal' -Description 'Customer root' -OwnerAlias 'contoso\administrator' -language 1033 -Template 'STS#0'

The only difference between the two is the URL for the site.  Am I missing something or is whatever the first site collection created considered the root site when using all HSNC?

Thanks,

Wes

Hi guys,

I have successfully installed Office web application server on an exclusive machine.

Also, I have created a new office web app farm and also set the binding on the sharepoint 2013 farm. However, when I click on the elispsee to preview a document, it just continually shows the "Word app" text without the actual document been previewed.

Global Navigation won't wrap after upgrade to SharePoint 2013

Most of our site collections have two rolls or more links on the global navigation bar, after upgraded one site collection to 2013, all links are on a single line. Is this a bug? Not useable when you have to scroll all the way to the right to click on a link. Thanks.

Note: this site has everything out of the box, so we expect the upgrade to be painless.

SharePoint 2013 - Simple Membership Provider webmatrix.webdata

Hi Guys,

I don't whether this is right place to ask this question but it's related to sharepoint. So I am posting it here.

I have asp.net mvc application and using SimpleMembershipProvider (webmatrix.webdata) for authentication and I have another application in SharePoint 2013. I want to use same database and authentication provider for this application. So, user having access to asp.net application can log into SharePoint 2013 application using same credential.

I would like to know whether is it possible? If it's possible please let me know how i can achieve that.

To let you know guys, I have already added entries in web.config files in central admin, STS and web application web.config file. But nothing worked for me.

Thanks

Co-hosting Workflow Manager 1.0 and Office Web Apps 2013/WFE

Greetings,

Please let me know if I'm using the wrong forum for this question.

We are currently architecting our SharePoint 2013 farm and are getting ready to put up our test instance.  We are looking at adding Workflow Manager 1.0 to the farm, but don't really want to use the resources to have dedicated servers for it.

Is it a supported configuration too co-host WFM on the OWA servers or on the WFE's?  And if so do you know of any documentation that mention such a configuration?  I've done it in a sandbox environment and it works fine, but I'm not sure if that would scale out in to real world use.

Thanks,

Wes

Is there a way to remove the Blog, Apps and Tasks link from all MySites in SharePoint 2013?  Also I would like to rename the Newsfeed text on the left menu as well.  I have found information on SharePoint 2010 but it did not apply to this version.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You,

Bryan

People Picker and Accounts with Commas

With SharePoint Foundation 2013, we seem to have a similar problem as described in this thread: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/ur-PK/sharepointgenerallegacy/thread/b33a036a-c1bf-47b5-a95f-423985407e68

Since 2013 has moved to a javascript powered spread sheet entry mode, it seems that we cannot properly add a user with the people picker if there is a comma used in the user id.  Does anyone know a workaround or if this is going to be fixed?  It seems like it was a problem with 2010, and I can't believe that it was not addressed in 2013.  Thanks!

I am new to Sharepoint 2013.  All I want to do at this point is share the Documents folder and its contents with a group of users.  As an admin, I select the folder, remove the inheritance permissions, then define the group of users I want to have access to the folder.  No luck.  Can anyone direct me?  TIA

Upgrade web part pages

I have a lot of Site Pages in SP2007.

Not going to go though SP2007 then SP2010 then SP2013.

What I want is simply take these web part pages and migrate them straight to SharePoint Online.

Let's assume very simple things here:

  • The site pages in SP2007 uses the OOTB master page
  • The site pages in SP2007 only contain OOTB web parts and those which are compatible with 2013, eg, list view web parts and content editor web parts.

Can this be done? What are the options I have?

Next, let's take it up one notch: if these site pages are unghosted via SPD2007, how am I supposed to move this across to SPO?
