I added below XSL on the webpart properties where I have the list.  I am seeing error "Tag cannot be self -closing , use explicitly closing tag." in the console. Failed to create the configuration database ... at server Domain.com: Access is denied

Hi,

I have installed SQL server and SharePoint server on a vSphere version 6.0 virtual machine. Both server joined on our company domain network.

SQL server: (IP address: 10.0.2.x1)
SQL Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2

SharePoint server: (IP address: 10.0.2.x2)
SharePoint Server 2013 and Windows Server 2012 R2

I want to install and set up SharePoint Server 2013. The SQL server is up and running.  For the SharePoint server setup, the prerequisites installer installs and configures all SharePoint 2013 requirements. But when I install SharePoint 2013,

I got an error message: "Failed to create the configuration database.

An exception of type System.InvalidOperationException was thrown.  Additional exception information: An error occurred while getting information about the user SPFarm at server Domain.com: Access is denied".

I use the domain user name and password.

Could someone advise me how to resolve this issue? Or does MS have a patch to solve the issue? Thank you.

DocStreams and Locating Documents

I've restored a DB backup from a different SP Server onto an Archive server and I've come across an issue where I can't get to a document library through the SP site, but I can see that the documents are there in the content DB.  I've found where I can extract the files from the DocStreams DB, but just wondering why I can't get to the files from SP?

This SP content DB was from a previous company that was acquired and has been restored to an Archive Server.

thanks

Send welcome e-mail to the new users in SharePoint 2013 not working

Hi,

We are facing issue for a specific SharePoint site where the new user is not getting welcome email. Other sites in the environment doesn’t have this issue. When we grant users permissions to the site we checked the option "Send welcome e-mail to the new users" but the welcome emails are not being sent out.

Couple of thing we already tried. Alert option is already enabled in CA -> Application Management -> Web applications. Also checked that there is no issue with exchange server on relaying email. All the configurations related to email in the SharePoint environment is fine.

Could you please let me know if you have come across such issue and it’s resolution?

Thanks.

Enabling SSL on SP and Offloading Certificate with F5

Hi,

i have a setup with following environment:

2 FE with cache
2 App with search

default portal is working on port 80 and load balancing and high availability is configured in F5.

Now i want to enable https for the same portal and want to offload the certificate on F5.
i was working on a separate ticket with MS and they told me AAM is not the correct way to enable SSL as it will impact your crawling search and it did.

The correct way is to that use Extend web app and give another port your web application.
The only confusion here is as I am offloading the certificate on F5 which is handling LB and HA, while configuring extend application what should i select "Use SSL" or not. in case if is select use SSL then i have to import certificate on both FE servers and SSL Offloading will not serve the purpose.

Can anyone please let me know how this kind of setup works ? what is the best way/practice to enable HTTPs on Sharepoint keeping in mind that on the frond side we have F5, (user request will go to F5 LB).

Regards, Thank You

SharePoint Web services removed while deleting extended web application

Please help to get the solution to recover SharePoint Web services from Sites in IIS 7.

I am using SharePoint 2013 site

after upgrade also links are points to old server

hello all,

i'm new to sharepoint.

i have upgraded sharepoint 2007 to sharepoint 2010 and it was ok

then upgraded sharepoint 2010 to Sp 2013 at the end it says some issue with template and i just ignored them

now i have 2 issues

1. in home page there are 3 links Home Page, App Library, Products still all these points to old server(SP2007). why its not pointing to new server and how to change it?

2. "Experience all that SharePoint 2013 has to offer. Start now or Remind me later" this message is popsup in every page when i click "start now" then it ends with templates "The following sites are using templates that are not yet supported after upgrade" for this i already choose "reset page to default" even it keeps on saying this.

may i know what is this and how to resolve this issue to? experts please advice.

why the "Control Panel" >> "View Installed Updates" , is showing duplicate updates for sharepoint 2013

Hi All,

we have a sharepoint on-premises server 2013. and i checked the installed patches on it. so inside our windows 2008 R2 >> Control Panel >> View installed updates, i got those updates where most of them are duplicates, as follow:-

Image may be NSFW.
Clik here to view.

So what do these duplicates refer to? do they refer to the exact same updates? as all the duplicates have the same "support link" url. and if they refer to the same update then why we got duplicate entries?

Thanks

Migrate Sharepoint 2013 without SP1 to SharePoint 2016

Hi,

Can we migrated (database attach) from SharePoint 2013 without Service Pack 1 to SharePoint 2016? I have March 2013 PU and my database is at 15.0.4481.1005

Is SP1 mandatory? The technet article says

"SharePoint Server 2016 supports an upgrade from SharePoint Server 2013 with the March 2013 Cumulative Update (CU), version 15.0.4481.1005 or higher."

SharePoint's User Profile database growing continuously

Hi,

Recently we are observing tremendous growth in User Profile's profile_db.
Found that "dbo.ActivityEventsConsolidated" table is utilizing most of the space in database.

I have followed below steps:
1) Use SharePoint Management Shell to get the SharePoint User Profile Service Application and set DaysWorthOfActivityFeedsToKeep to zero

$ups = Get-SPServiceApplication -name “User Profile Services”
$ups.DaysWorthOfActivityFeedsToKeep = 0
$ups.Update()

2) Ran job "User Profile Services - Activity Feed Cleanup Job" from Central Admin.

But above was of not of much help.

Any plans much appreciated.

Thanks!

SharePoint Farm Backup Recovery Trial

Ok so, I got a call from a customer and he wants to restore the Production SharePoint environment to the test environment. The production has a different topology from the testing environment.

As far as my understanding due to the difference of topologies this is not possible, however, I could not find any documentation that validates what I think.

What I want exactly is a guideline on when does such scenario works and when it does not work. As well as steps on how to do this. I appreciate if there are no commercial products.

Appreciate your assistance.

Farm Administrator unable to view large lists on migrated Site Collections

I recently setup a second SharePoint 2013 Enterprise On-prem farm. I am in the Farm Administrators security group. I copied over some content databases from another farm that I am also farm admin on however when I try to view a list which has an item count exceeding the view threshold I'm get the view restriction notice whereas I am able to view it on the other farm. Any ideas what I'm missing? Both farms are on claims and both are in the same AD domain.

Thanks

SharePoint 2013 MySites/OneDrive Could not Load User Profile

As the title explains, trying to resurrect MySites/OneDrive in my SharePoint 2013 environment.  I'm working to decommission an old server in the farm, and the last item on there is the MySites web application.

Ideally I'd like to move these to a new web application (server) in the same farm, but I want to get it working on the old server first.  I've tried many different troubleshooting steps, one of which was dis-associating/re-associating the user profile service application proxy to the my sites web application, but this didn't alleviate the error.

Here are the below logs when browsing the my site page.

SharePoint Foundation 2013 with 2016/2019 Domain Controllers?

Hello everybody,

we are planning a server migration and the customer wants to keep his SharePoint Foundation 2013 Server. Which are the highest versions of Windows Server and forest/domain functional levels supported by SharePoint 2013? That is, may we use 2019 DCs and functional levels?

Best Regards, Stefan Falk
