Secure store issue

I am unable to start the secure store. Below is the what I see in the windows event viewer.

The Secure Store Service application Secure Store Service is not accessible. The full exception text is: An error occurred while receiving the HTTP response to https://XYZ:344/bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb/SecureStoreService.svc/https. This could be due to the service endpoint binding not using the HTTP protocol. This could also be due to an HTTP request context being aborted by the server (possibly due to the service shutting down). See server logs for more details.

ULS logs error :

Exception: System.ServiceModel.CommunicationException: An error occurred while receiving the HTTP response to https://xxxxxxxxxxx/SecureStoreService.svc/https. This could be due to the service endpoint binding not using the HTTP protocol. This could also be due to an HTTP request context being aborted by the server (possibly due to the service shutting down). See server logs for more details. ---> System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive. ---> System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The client and server cannot communicate, because they do not possess a common algorithm

Verified that secure store service is running I restarted  Webservices root application pool . Did IIS reset

I recreated the secure store application  but still I see the same error.

But nothing seems to help . I still see "Cannot complete this action as the Secure Store Shared Service is not responding. Please contact your administrator." when I click on secure store service app in central admin->Service application and above error in windows logs.

Please help

Build number error : SharePoint 2013 server July-2018 CU

This is Wesley from CK Hutchison.  I would like to get your help for the SharePoint 2013 update as you are the contributor in the Microsoft SharePoint update website.

I found the discrepancy on the build number in the SharePoint 2013 server and foundation after applying the latest July-2018 CU.

Microsoft SharePoint update website shows the build number15.0.5049.1001, but our SharePoint 2013 servers and foundation shows15.0.5047.1000

SharePoint   Foundation 2013 KB4022239

SharePoint Server 2013 KB4022241

Is the build number    referring a file version updated in the patched files ?

Is there a Power Shell script to capture Audit log for a modern site.

SharePoint 2013 user migration from old domain to new domain - List view assigned are impacted

Hello All,

Recently, we starting migrating the users from DOMAINA\account to DOMAINB\account using the following power shell script

Move-SPUser -Identity $IdUser -NewAlias $NewUserID -IgnoreSID -confirm:$false

We don't see any challenges with user permissions (or) security. But, there was an issue noticed at List level as there are certain list items which are assigned to user with old identity/ Display Name which are NOT visible in the custom view with rule as Created By field is equal to "[Me]". however, user is able to see ONLY new items created and able to see those list items in custom view.

User profile user property has the migrated account and verified all the fields

How to make visible the old items in the same custom view? Please advice

Installing KB4022235 Still showing as missing in central admin

This KB shows installed on the server and the log file says it was successful.

MSI (s) (54:40) [15:53:23:468]: Product: Microsoft SharePoint Portal - Update 'Security Update for Microsoft SharePoint Enterprise Server 2013 (KB4022235) 64-Bit Edition' installed successfully.

Tried to re-run install and got a 1603 error most likely because it was already installed.

I need help figuring out why Central admin is showing the patch still missing.

Thank you,
Mark

SharePoint 2013 Sync Task with Microsoft Outlook: Sync Disabled due to error

Hi Every,

Forgive me if I am unable to explain my problem in a proficient way. My problem is When I click on "Connect to outlook" It say sync to exchange is disabled due to errors.

I did a lot of googling but failed to find the solution. Site inboxes can be configured for a team-site. It means o-authentication is working between SharePoint 2013 and Exchange 2013. When I see partner application It gives me only one partner application i.e. SharePoint. I have two separate web applications. One hosts corporate team site collection and other hosts mysite. Search is working although with some errors in log. These are regarding errors in Parser application while indexing a specific document. Search Results are returning so it looks Search Application is working. MyTask list is showing me the tasks assigned from a team site therefor Work Management Application is working as well. The ULS log shows following error

Problems Connecting to a Product Catalog

I have having difficulty connecting to a product catalog. I'm fairly sure I have everything configured correctly.

However, when I go to the site to connect, while logged in as a site collection administrator, I get:
Cannot access the shared catalog term set. Check that this site has access.

But when I return to the catalog site term store management tool, I can see that the site is indeed listed under Site Collection Access.

The #1 tip though is that I can login to any of the target sites I want to connect to and can easily connect to the catalog site when logged in as a farm administrator.

What's happening here?

Hello,

Content in your staging and production are lot different due to constant changes in production. I want to restore content DB from production to staging to solve this. We only have one site collection which utilizes out of the box features, CSS , infopath.

Is it ok to restore this and should I expect issues if I do this ?.

I tried to apply CU updates last night and they failed so we rolled back our snapshot. Everything seemed to be working last, I didn't go through every single site in our Farm, just did a spot check.  This morning someone received an error accessing their site:

"The context has expired and can no longer be used (Exception from HRESULT:  0x80090317).

The logs is showing a "Logging Correlation Data" for that correlation error.

Hello,

I have old SP 2010 farm with 4 servers: 2 wfe, 1 database, 1 application. This SP has 15000 unique visitors per day (readers) and 500 content editors.

Now, I need to migrate that to SP2016. Do I need the same server arhitecture (4 servers) and what are min requirements for these servers?

Where could I get the answer to these questions?

Relative URLs in Font Scheme file not working anymore in SharePoint Server 2016

$

Hello,

We have used a custom theme with font scheme file(.spfont) in our SharePoint 2013 farm.

The font sheme file contains web relative paths for woffsrc, eotsrc, ttfsrc, svgsrc, largeimgsrc, smallimgsrc  (Example:/Style%20Library/Branding/Fonts/OurFont.eot) and this is working as expected in SharePoint 2013 when applying the theme manually or with our remote CSOM site provisioning.

We are now in the process of migrating to SharePoint 2016 and it seems that the relative paths does not work anymore. The path above will be translated to <WebAppHost>/Style%20Library/... .

Due to security reasons we cannot keep the fonts in the root site, so we are forced to use the full urls for each web in each .spfont that is being deployed.

Have you experienced this issue any workarounds?

BR,
Ivan

Hosted named site collection for an existing web application site

Hi

I was going throw this article https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/administration/host-named-site-collection-architecture-and-deployment and it explains more on creating new web application and setup.

In my environment, I have a web application, root site collection already. I just want to create a new site collection under the same webapp with HNSC. I executed the powershell command which created the HNSC based site collections successfully. I can see from central admin that the hosted named site collection created under view all site collections.

New-SPSite -url $SiteURL -HostHeaderWebApplication $HostURL -owneralias $OwnerID -owneremail $OwnerMail -Template $TemplateVal

However when I tried to access http://hnsc.portal.com it redirects "Page cant be displayed". I then added a host entry in the SP server xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx hnsc.portal.com  and it redirects "website not found error"

Will you please suggest me what configurations I am missing?

Is there any IIS binding or Alternate access mapping I should configure? Does it require DNS entry in domain? Will you please provide me steps?

Thanks

List advanced setting "create items and edit items created by the user" not working as expected

We want users only see items created by others but not able to edit or delete those item.

In list settings >Advanced Settings, I selected under "Create and Edit Access" -

"Create items and edit items that were created by the user"

(default is "Create and edit all items")

Click ok, Restarted Browser.

But users can still delete or edit items created by others

Is there any other settings need to be changed for this to work?

No SharePoint Properties Found - Affects Only Some Site Collections

This is a side branch from a problem previously posted under here.

As discussed in a previous forum discussion, the overall problem of No SharePoint Properties Found was finally resolved in the latest cu's pushed out September/October 2018 timeframes, and O365 updates of 1808 through 1810.

However, our organization noted that some site collections in a specific web application continue to have this problem of "No SharePoint Properties Found" while other site collections within the same web application are now fixed.

Let me restate the problem.  We open a word document from a specific site collection and when Word O365 is open, the dip panel will show the error below:

No SharePoint Properties Found

We're not sure what the problem is and here are steps we have taken to try and resolve this issue:

  • We have verified that lists have Settings | Content Types | ContentTypeName | Document Information Panel settings | Always show Document Information Panel on document open and initial save for this content type (checked).
  • We have validated that Require Use Remote Interfaces permissions and Enable Client Integration checked under the default zone.
  • We have deactivated individual Solutions in the Gallery.
  • We have examined and compared document templates in cts folder for content types.
  • We have refreshed all content types from the content hub.

Any other suggestions about for resolving this issue would be welcomed.

Backuping our Farm and site collections, are we doing things correctly

We have a sharepoint enterprise farm 2013. and we are reviewing our sharepoint backup policies. currently we are doing the following backup tasks:-

1. Every day @4 am we backup our farm:-

Backup-SPFarm -Directory \\fileserv\Back -BackupMethod full -BackupThreads 10 -Force

2. Also we backup our site collections seperately:-

backup-spsite http://w*****1/ -Path C:\Back\home.bak
backup-spsite http://w****1/depts/ -Path C:\Back\depts.bak
3. we store the backup files on a separate file server, which is also being backup-ed.

Now my question is about how we can restore these backup files, so i have the following questions:-

1. as per my knowledge to be able to restore our farm or our site collections, the destination farm should have the same farm build number. so let say our sharepoint server OR our sharepoint database server had a sever hardware problem, and we were not able to work on it again. and we had to build a new sharepoint farm. so in this case we need to build a new sharepoint farm >> install the sharepoint updates to upgrade it to the same build number as in the source farm >> then restore the farm backup files? will this work on paper? My concern is that; as per my knowledge that 2 farms can have the same build number , but can reach the build number from different patches.. so how we can manage this? For example, on some farms, our customers install security updates for sharepoint , which sometimes upgrade the farm build number, while other customers only install full cumulative updates. but the farm which have a full CU installed and the farm which only have some sharepoint security updates installed , might have the same build number. so in this case if we have a farm back up files, then how we can reproduce an exact farm to be able to restore the farm backup files?

2. Second question. If we have a farm backup files generated from this script:-

Backup-SPFarm -Directory \\fileserv\Back -BackupMethod full -BackupThreads 10 -Forc

then can we restore the farm backup files on a farm which have a higher build number compared to the source farm? or can we restore the farm backup files on a farm which have the same build number as the source regardless of the patches that are installed?

Thanks
