Hello.

I am trying to enable incoming e-mail for a document library in SharePoint 2013, however it just produces a "Sorry, something went wrong" error.  Searching logs for the correlation ID I found this on one of the web front end servers:

Application error when access /_layouts/15/EmailSettings.aspx, Error=An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host

Getting Error Message for Exception System.Web.HttpUnhandledException (0x80004005): Exception of type 'System.Web.HttpUnhandledException' was thrown. ---> System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send. ---> System.IO.IOException: Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host     at System.Net.Sockets.NetworkStream.Read(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 size)

There isn't much else of any use, and when I Google the message it just returns results from people writing their own software, nothing to do with SharePoint.  Can anyone point me in the right direction for this one?  How do I know which host it is trying to talk to?

In our organization, we set up document centers and records centers and control documents based on content types and retention field settings.  Document Centers have Content Organizer with associated rules and settings configured.  We used SharePoint Designer Workflows to move documents once users finish with these documents, employing the Submit using Move and Leave a Link method.  Some document centers work fine.  Some document libraries in document centers work fine and other document libraries within the same document libraries do not.  For those document libraries with workflows that error, we see something similar to the following error below:

The request failed with HTTP status 400: Bad Request.

We’ve performed the following  checks:

•         Disabled loopback
•         Checked to ensure that the App Pool account is a member of the Records Center Web Server Submitters group on the destination site.  Ensured that all other appropriate users are members of this same group.
•         Verified that we have the correct extension/_vti_bin/OfficialFile.asmx
•         Test submit file using soap.xml and curl to make sure the list accepts the request using appropriate credentials and properties.

Has anyone encountered this problem and how have you solved it?

I'm running into an issue where updating metadata in a Document library is slow to complete.  Sometimes up to 60 seconds to complete. 

Here are some details:

The Document Library has about 6000 documents in it.  I've upped the item limit for the site and removed throttling from the list.

Example:
$webapp.MaxItemsPerThrottledOperation = 10000
$list.EnableThrottling=$false

I've removed the throttling because I thought it might have had something to do with load time after hitting submit and returning to the list.  It doesn't seem to have done anything.

I haven't customized the editform.aspx at all.

Sometimes there are no issues and sometimes it takes forever.  I've not been able to find a reason.

Hi,
I'm having problems with Excel spreadsheets becoming 'locked for editing', and unable to access, after a user has edited and closed a document.<o:p></o:p>

This seems to only happen intermittently, and sometimes this 'locked for editing' state is lasting hours.<o:p></o:p>

Is anyone able to read through this error log and tell me what's happening?

I think the important parts of the log is the fact that it is locktype=0 and minutes=60 but here are the full details:

Created a new Doc library - added a content type and in workflow settings I've added the Standard Approval WF. Also tried removing the CT and just have the documents on (Plain) 

When I upload a document and initiate the WF - I fill out the form and click start - but the WF fails

I have my SharePoint 2013 Standard Edition site and MS SQL Server which are currently hosted at our cloud-based datacenter. Now, we wish to put them at the client's on-premise.  Please note that SharePoint and MS SQL Server are on separate servers.

Our infrastructure team confirmed that the IP address / Gateway / Subnet / DNS will be impacted.

Is it a best practice to only move the cloud -VM (both SharePoint and SQL) to the on-premise server or is it preferable to perform a fresh install of SharePoint on the new on-premise server? I have a minor problem with using views in a document library. Here's the starting info:

- document library, content types enabled.
- 3 ctypes available: document, person (inherited from document set), project (inherited from folder)
- 3 views: all items, person, project, each displaying different website columns

First level entries are only persons, under each person are different projects, and each projects has documents in it.

- The library's default view is "all items", everything allright.
- I managed to map the "person" view as default view for the document set, so only columns with info about projects are shown => perfect
- I edited the "project" view, where I want to show only columns of the "document" ctype. Made it the "default view" and set 'Show in folders of content type "project"'

Everything works fine for the first and second level: "All items" shows the columns of the persons in this level, when I enter a person (docset) I see all the colums for the projects inside of this person.

But when I click on the project (folder content type) SharePoint still keeps the person view with columns of the project folder and never enters the "project" view.

Any idea, if it is even possible, to use folder-content-type specific views inside of document sets?

EDIT: I tried to put a "project" folder directly in the root of the library, to see, if it's related to docsets. But there it keeps the default "all items" view and does not switch to the "project" view. I can switch to the project view later without problems.
In the root folder I cannot change to the project view (since I'm not in a folder of content-type "project", obviously).

We have a problem regarding that Sharepoint Online is unable to open Office documents in client.
I have tried to activate in SiteCollection functions/Open docuement in client as default and also in library settings/advanced settings/open document/use server default settings but this doesnt help me. It's the same problem in our own tenant as in customers tenants. Please advice.

I have 4 users to check that matter:sharepoint1,sharepoint2,sharepoint3,sqldbaccess

my database is: testdb. I grant the public and read permission in my database to sqldbaccess user

I created one target application with this steps and settings:

target application type :group

I set these user for these settings in definition of my target application

Target Application Administrators:sharepoint3

Members:sharepoint1,sharepoint2

after I created target application, I set credential for the sqldbaccess user

then I go to sharepoint designer 2013 and create external content type and connect to my database with these settings:

I set mydatabase server and database name in own textbox.

I checked connect with Impersonated windows Identity and I set secure store application ID textbox  exactly to what i created before.

but I didn't connect to my database with any user :sharepoint1,sharepoint2,sharepoint3 and these error appeared:

cannot connect to the sql server databse defined in datasource connection ???

message from external system"'login failed for user ????

what is my mistake ? 

I expected the users can connect to secure store and then access to my database.

In our Sharepoint 2013 site, when I edit a page, I select Insert-> Image which opens a "Select an Asset" window.  In this window I click on Style Library -> Images and in the right panel a certain number of images loads but I am not able to move to the next page (the Next button/arrow is missing).  We opened the same website but in production and we can see the Next arrow and are able to scroll to see all images.  So why are we only able to see the first page of images in our dev environment (same computer used, same browser).

I urgently need some help, am currently trying to sync my sharepoint am having the current error message, i have got microsoft office 2016 and am unable to install one drive for business on the link https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2903984/how-to-install-the-onedrive-for-business-sync-client-for-sharepoint-2013-and-sharepoint-online

I have downloaded the english one for os 64 bits

Please help me to find a solution asap

Am currently using click to run edition of office home and business 2016  as you may be aware there is no onedrive for business included in this edition. I would like to install it separately is there any exe file for this onedrive for business 2016. I have tried to install the professional one but it is not compatible with office home and business 2016. could you please help me urgently on this matter.

But the Media failed to load...so I'm obviously doing something wrong in the link.    

Should I map the Network Share local on the server first or just direct to the Share at port 1234? 

Is is the Server name or the SharePoint site that need to be included in the video link?
