Configuring App Store on SharePoint 2013 Complete instructions

$

Hi, i am looking for complete instructions on Creating App catalog on SharePoint 2013.

From A to Z.

MSDN does not include all the steps:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/fp179923(v=office.15)

Lots of people refer to this article but also is incomplete:

http://sharepointchick.com/archive/2012/07/29/setting-up-your-app-domain-for-sharepoint-2013.aspx

and so on.

I have the DNS configures, i have run the scripts and App management and Subscription settings is running.

I need to create the App Catalog site....Most of the articles does not cover this.

So i need to create a Web App with no host header? So do i create the url as Server name on port 80?

If i create the app catalog do select that Web App?

Then where does the blank site collection in the root come in?

Thanks, if there is any sites that cover this it would be appreciated.

Hi every body

my sharepoint farm works ok before but one day I saw the below error  in CA/review problems and solutions :
One of the cache hosts in the cluster is down.
first this error occurs for one server but after that occurs for the other one
i use this command in powershell :get-cachehost
but raise this error:

get-cachehost : ErrorCode<ERRPS013>:SubStatus<ES0001>:Error: No valid cluster
settings were provided with Use-CacheCluster.

after that i run this command :
use-cachecluster

and after run get-cachehost

this shows 3 servers in farm 2 of then down but one of them up.

i want to fix that some articles say i restart distributed cache in services on server in CA. i go to do that.

in one server(show dawn in result of get-cachehost) stop.after that didn't start with this error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. this error show the correlation id.
i create log file for that correlation id and i can't undrestand the meaning of error these error listed below:
A failure occurred SPDistributedCacheServiceInstance::Provision() , Exception 'System.InvalidOperationException: Cannot start service AppFabricCachingService on computer '.'. ---> System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion     --- End of inner exception stack trace ---     at System.ServiceProcess.ServiceController.Start(String[] args)     at Microsoft.SharePoint.Win32.SPAdvApi32.StartService(String strServiceName)     at Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPWindowsServiceInstance.Start()     at Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPWindowsServiceInstance.Provision(Boolean start)     at Microsoft.SharePoint.DistributedCaching.Utilities.SPDistributedCacheServiceInstance.Provision()'

An attempt to start/stop instance  of service Distributed Cache on server  [Myserver] did not succeed.  Re-run the action via UI or command line on the specified server. Additional information is below.  Cannot start service AppFabricCachingService on computer '.'

System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion

In other server(show down in result of get-cachehost): the service stop but after start it show error starting!!!!
after that i want to stop it again but its state change to stopping !!!!

i confused about these things if these days the only server shows up status became down what should i do ?

please help me.

webpart - random behavior

I previously posted a problem regarding a custom Webpart – Its on the users MySite and “reads” item from another (calendar) list on another WebApplication - on the calendar list there's this columns:

  • Title
  • Description
  • Start date
  • End date
  • Status
  • Display (checkmark)

The problem:  New items created doesn’t show up – old items shows up fine (so the Webpart configuration and the rights across is OK)

But as mentions new items created on that calendar "read” list doesn’t show up – it’s Very random behavior – depending which Item that's edited - if I edit an old one it shows fine – and if one old one – doesn’t show I can take another old items and edit – then this shows fine!

I've checked and compared Webconfigs and all other settings that I can imagine.

Can it be dist. cache related? - or other cache, tokens settings?

I need some input in the trouble shooting?

Hi ,

We recently have migrated from Sharepoint 2010 to O365. The document ID link for old documents stop working with the error

No documents with the ID XXXX-XXX were found in this site collection.

this is url

[Site Name]/_layouts/15/DocIdRedir.aspx?ID=XXXX-XXX

When I click on Document itself its open with no issue. For new document which we are uploading on O365.Document Id link worked well. Any idea how we can fix this.

Thanks

change distributed cache service account error

The Healthy Analyzer is throwing an error:

The server farm account should not be used for other services.

doman\farmadmin, the account used for the SharePoint timer service and the central administration site, is highly privileged and should not be used for any other services on any machines in the server farm.  The following services were found to use this account: Distributed Cache Service(Windows Service)

I found this information on distributed cache in the technet library http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219613.aspx

Change the service account

When the server farm is first configured, the server farm account is set as the service account of the AppFabric Caching service. The Distributed Cache service depends on the AppFabric Caching service. To change the service account of the AppFabric Caching service to a managed account:

1. Create a managed account.

2. Set the Managed account as the service account on the AppFabric Caching service. At the Windows PowerShell command prompt, run the following command

$farm = Get-SPFarm
$cacheService = $farm.Services | where {$_.Name -eq "AppFabricCachingService"}

$accnt = Get-SPManagedAccount -Identity domain_name\user_name $cacheService.ProcessIdentity.CurrentIdentityType = "SpecificUser" $cacheService.ProcessIdentity.ManagedAccount = $accnt $cacheService.ProcessIdentity.Update() $cacheService.ProcessIdentity.Deploy()

Where Domain_name\user_name is the domain name and user name of the managed account.

When I run the last command I get the following error:

PS C:\users\farmadmin> $cacheService.ProcessIdentity.Deploy()

Exception calling "Deploy" with "0" argument(s). "This operation uses the SharePoint Administration service (spadminv4), which could not be contacted. If the service is stopped or disabled, start it and try the operation again."

Document Set with folders

Hello,

I'm having an issue in SharePoint 2013 on-premise using the 2010 layouts. this started to happen with a migrated site collection from 2010, but then I tried with a clean site collection on 2013, but using the template of 2010, and it keeps happening, so this really seems to be a bug of SP2013 using the layout of 2010.

the steps to replicate the issue are:

  1. create a site collection, using the 2010 template version
  2. on a document library, activate management of content types, add the content type "Document Set"
  3. create a document set, and inside create a folder, with sub folder, with sub folder... until you get the error. this should break at second or third folder level.

this is somehow generating a wrong html code in the "docsethomepage.aspx", it is using an unexpected "&".

The problem is that this error is invalidating the entire page, so no client side features can be used (like the ribbon, or the breadcrumb) .

hope someone can help here. thanks.

Single Sign on Issue while accessing the extended web application

SharePoint Portal can access using http://portal (Default Web Application) with Single Sign on inside the Corporate Network. The web application has been extended to https://portal.companyname.com. But when the user access this url, it asks for user name and password for already logged in users in the Corporate Network. How can we achieve single sign on for the extended URL ?

Dreaded "Sorry something went wrong" error when creating or editing a View

Hi,

I was just creating a new list for a project, added some columns and then clicked on All Items to edit it. I got no response for minutes before finally the "Sorry, something went wrong - an unexpected error occurred" screen came up. I tried to create a new view but with the same result.

I've now been to lists and doc libraries across my whole system, different site collections etc and creating or editing lists is broken everywhere.

Effectively anything that calls _layouts/15/editview.aspx or viewtype.aspx errors out. If I just go to http:<server>/_Layouts/15/editview.aspx the error comes up straight away. There is a correlation ID each time but I can't find it in the logs on any of the SP servers.

Struggling to easily google this. Any ideas?

Already tried the following:

  1. Re-entering the passwords required by SQL- & SharePoint-related services.
  2. Increasing the free space by removing files and clearing old logs.
  3. Defragmenting the server's hard disk.
  4. Tweaking the paging file size.

Below are some of the last events logged by the server. Hope you could help, ASAP. Thanks.

Dear All

I have a SharePoint 2016 and OOS server.

when I try to open document from my browser in sharepoint. Prompt message will pop-out when it try to preview a document:

"sorry, there was a problem and we can't open this document. If this happens again, try opening the document in Microsoft word"

When I check Event in OOS server, there is an error display:

"Could not contact WOPI End Point. Error details - 'Unauthorized url - https://sp16.abc.com/_vti_bin/wopi.ashx/files/80f07e554d7c4179a905b351252e43f3?access_token=REDACTED_1074&access_token_ttl=1481132219759'."

I have checked and confirmed the following information:

1. Web application is Claims Based Authentication2.WOPI zones match on the SharePoint 2013 and the Office Web Apps Server farm

3.We only use HTTPS URL

   OWA URL: https://ooa.abc.com

   sharepoint URL: https://sp16.abc.com

4. SharePoint has enabled Excel SOAP API

5.Get-OfficeWebAppsHost is null

Kindly advise on how should I resolve this issue.

thank you very much!

Change DNS host from old production to new production

Hello,

Currently I have an SP2010 production server setup and its name : http://intranet.mycompany.com and we are going to migrate to SP 2013 next weekend. Currently I have been testing withhttp://intranetSP13.mycompany.com

I just want to set readonly to the SP2010 production instance. So I still have that DNS active. Should I create the final migration web application/site application url with different name like I have been doing with testing and change host header and AAM and map DNS once the old DNS is cleared?

My only worry is when the entire web application, site collection is setup with name intranetsp13, all other internal references within list, libraries scripts wont be changing when dns change happened.

What are the thoughts and recommended way to handle this? Please expert advise.

Thanks

Shri

SSRS DBS Showing Database is in compatibility range and upgrade is recommended

We have a server in our farm that is dedicated to serving SSRS reports. SSRS is installed in SharePoint integrated mode. The SP1 was added to the DB (SQL 2012) a couple of months back. Afterwards our 3 SSRS databases were showing " Database is in compatibility range and upgrade is recommended".

I ran PSConfig.exe -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -force -cmd applicationcontent -install -cmd installfeatures. I reran the health rule and it disappeared. A few days later it showed up again. I reran psconfig and reran the  health analyzer rule and it disappeared again however this time I checked the database upgrade status page and there it still shows the "Database is in compatibility range and upgrade is recommended" message. This evening I reran this command, first on the SSRS App server, then on the app server that hosts CA (Previously I ran it on this one first) and finally on the WFE. This message still persists on the upgrade status page.

I have a hunch that the reason is this:

Our SharePoint 2013 Databases are Microsoft SQL Server 2012 (SP3-GDR) (KB3194721) - 11.0.6248.0 (X64)
 Enterprise Edition: Core-based Licensing (64-bit) on Windows NT 6.3 <X64> (Build 9600: ) (Hypervisor)

Our SSRS Database running on the Microsoft SQL Server 2016 (SP1) (KB3182545) - 13.0.4001.0 (X64) Standard Edition (64-bit) on Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard 6.3 <x64>(Build 9600: ) (Hypervisor)

AD import different User Profile count in CA then in search

We configured AD import in a SP2013 farm to import user profiles from different domains. The total number of User Profiles shown in the CA (User Profile SA) is >500k however the People content sources indexed 190k user profiles.

The 190k indexed users are as expected but I cannot explain the >500k user profiles as total number of users in the User profiles service application.

Who can help me explain the behavior?
