Deleting from a site <g class="gr_ gr_112 gr-alert gr_spell gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del" data-gr-id="112" id="112">it self</g>, is working fine as well as with <g class="gr_ gr_333 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_run_anim Grammar only-ins replaceWithoutSep" data-gr-id="333" id="333">use</g> of PowerShell.

But I have to investigate why admins cannot use Central Administration to do it.

<g class="gr_ gr_316 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_run_anim Grammar multiReplace" data-gr-id="316" id="316">Administrator</g> is in fact site collection administrator and the owner of the site. He has full permission on this Web Application.

I believe some permissions are missing, but I have no idea what other permission I could add to this user.

Looking for a tool which can report login failures in SharePoint 2013, please let me know if there is any tool for this.

Since I haverestored a SP Foundation 2013 content database which was on another workstation into another workstation whereby SP Server 2013 Standard Edition has been installed, the Source in Event Viewer is showing as "SharePoint Foundation". I am having a SharePoint site, where the users data are not synchronized with that of Active directory. I am not using User profile service. To update a single user data, I am following the below script:

$user = Get-SPUser -Identity "domain\user_name" -Web http(s)://site_collection_url


Set-SPUser -Identity $user -SyncFromAD -Web http(s)://site_collection_url

I would like to know how to update for all users in the site collection? Rather than updating for single user, is there any script which can be run for all users?

Will the MembershipGrupId=0 cover all users who have access to the site collection? If yes, is it possible to loop through this and sync the AD?

When I in CA view various site collections - I see that the Primary Admin is a persons name and email that is made redundant a while ago - how can I change this? - the person is removed as Site Admin everywhere

After some reports relating to AD attributes not syncing I had a look at the UPS to find it had completed a sync a couple of days previously.

No big deal, Hit "Stop" on the current sync from the Manage Profile Service page.

From that point it seemed to hang, so I manually Stopped the Service in the Services part of CA.

Then it wouldnt restart.

Stopped the User Profile Service then attempted to start both. User Profile Service Starts but the User Profile Sync Service will not.

Back Managing the Profile Service and 'Profile Synchronization Settings' reports "User Profile Sync is not currently provisioned."

Checked the Synchronization Connections which does not show my AD connection profile, just "query returns nothing."

In our on premises SharePoint 2013 environment we allow anonymous users to download documents from wiki section. This all works fine for doc and pdf documents but when an anonymous user clicks a xlsx document then they are given authentication prompt. How can this be fixed to work the same as other  documents? I have tried disabling Client Integration for the web application but to no avail.

But I know there are other Subtype security items(permission levels), such as Report Permissions ....   Is there a Full List of all the Security items so I can form custom Security Groups?
the reason why I ask this, it seems  that not all the subtype of Security items are not listed  Has anyone documented all the various items that can be selected and used to create a Custom Security Group.

We recently upgraded from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013.

My Colleague and I in IT department are the only Site Administrators and have access to site Central Administration

In SharePoint 2010, when a site collection ran out of space it sent an email to the site collection administrators which advised them the site was getting nearer storage limits. We had educated Site collection administrators to

1. Check what is using space
 a. Is anybody creating massive files they should not be (Site actions ¬ Site Settings ¬ Storage Metrics)
 b. is there any old outdated information that can be deleted.

2. Inspect data usage and increase http://teamapp/sitename._layouts/WebAnalytics/Reports.aspx?t=StorageTrendsReport&I=sc

3. Log a request with IT to advising how much additional space is required and based on projection in 2 how long you expect this amount of disk space to be suitable for.

In SharePoint 2013, the report in 2 is no longer available. It seems site collection administrators are not even able to tell how much space their site collection is currently using without asking IT to go into Central administration to find this out.

This has somewhat complicated the relationship and demand on IT to continually try and help sort out space for sites.

Just wondering if there is something I am missing and whether there is a way for Site collection adminstrators to see
1. How much storage their site is using
2. Get reports on StorageTrends for their site collection.

I have a development and live instance of SharePoint 2013.

When trying to view the User Profile Service Application on the development server (which was already setup) get the error:

Sorry, something went wrong

An unexpected error has occurred.

This link (from the Central Administration GUI) appears to be running the http:// {SharePoint Address}/_layouts/15/ManageUserProfileServiceApplication.aspx?ApplicationID={id_number} command. In the case of the development server this brings back a 'Sorry, this site hasn't been shared with you'error message when run directly in a browser.

The Live server has recently begun to show the same error, intermittently, when selecting the ‘User Profile Service Application’ option from the  ‘Service Applications’ – ‘Manage service applications,’ menu in ‘Central Administration.’ This was working as expected yesterday, and nothing seems to have been changed!

In both cases the ‘User Profile Service’ is started.

Any help would be appreciated.

Company just completed a major organisation change - so some existing division-, department- and team- sites are going to be replaced with new ones.

Right now the sites are all subsites to http://portal and presented for the user by a site list that is displayed by category on the frontpage

what's the best way to make this - and present those org. changes? - have anyone done similar "excise"? - what worked for your users? - I just want to separate the new sites from the old sites and maybe display them in a better way in just a site list - the divisions sites I've made  them with promoted links (its live tiles :)...) - it would be nice if the org. browser webpart (silverlight) was clickable on each... or another "sitemap" that also could "separate" the new ones from the old ones ...

Any input would be highly appreciated       

Hi I have a situation where I was able to get the SP 2010 features fixes around 45 out of 59. I don't have any clue and manager doesn't want me to clean up as well. What if I continue migrate these a few errors? Are there any long term and short term issues? I was told to address after migration for those left out features/solutions if required.  Please let me know.

Is there any way to downgrade a hyper v vm from the 8.0 configuration version to the 5.0 version? And no i do not have a backup, please read on...

I built a fully configured and functional Sharepoint Server 2013 virtual machine on top of Windows Server 2012 R2 for development and testing.

 The Sharepoint VM was migrated from a Windows server 2012 R2 host to a Windows Server 2016 host- i know you all can see where this is headed :-(

The Sharepoint VM had a configuration version of 5.0 while on the 2016 host and all was right with the world. However, the Sharepoint VM was failing backups using Veeam Backup, even after I upgraded the Veeam Backup software to their latest version, 9.5, which supposedly was compatible with serve 2016.

I did some more research and found the Sharepoint VM backup was failing because it had the 5.0 configuration version. So i upgraded the Sharepoint VM configuration to version 8.0. Afterwards the backup was successful.

HOWEVER, now my Sharepoint develpment farm is dead! When i try to go to the Sharepoint site or Central Administration I get this;

When I open the MMS database, the stored procedure with this name really doesn't exist. Is it some new stored procedure, which should be deployed with some cumulative update or similar? What is it?

Hi ,

We recently have migrated from Sharepoint 2010 to O365. The document ID link for old documents stop working with the error 

No documents with the ID XXXX-XXX were found in this site collection.

When I click on Document itself its open with no issue. For new document which we are uploading on O365.Document Id link worked well. Any idea how we can fix this.

I am dealing with SharePoint 2016 site backup and restore.

I am having a parent site abc\a\home.aspx

Inside this site we have several sub sites like abc\a\b\c\d\e\home.aspx

I am taking a backup of entire site collection, now I want to restore only site for example say site e from entire backup file.

Other web application a,b,c,d should not effected with this import operation.

I am using below command to take backup of entire site collection.

Backup-SPSite $mySite -Path $backupLocation\URF_$today.bak –force
