Unexpected exception in FeedCache Service

Hi all,

I have this error in my Event Viewer for SharePoint Server 2013 Standard Edition:

"The Execute method of job definition Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.LMTRepopulationJob (ID 647a1f90-6b26-490b-8b14-390ff79babe3) threw an exception. More information is included below.

Unexpected exception in FeedCacheService.IsRepopulationNeeded: Connection to the server terminated, check if the cache host(s) is running." Can you please advise how to fix this error?

Since I haverestored a SP Foundation 2013 content database which was on another workstation into another workstation whereby SP Server 2013 Standard Edition has been installed, the Source in Event Viewer is showing as "SharePoint Foundation". Can you please explain me why the Source is showing as "SharePoint Foundation" instead of"SharePoint Server"

Migrating multiple web applications from SP 2010 to single web application in SP 2013

Hi,

Can we migrate multiple web applications from source i.e SharePoint 2010 to single web application in destination i.e in SharePoint 2013?

If Yes:

1. A web application may have multiple databases associated with it, so we need to first attach database containing the root site, however if we merge multiple web applications into single web application we may face situation where we have two different databases containing the root sites for respective web applications.

2. Are there any other issue in such scenario?

If No:

1. Any specific roadblocks/recommendations/guidelines for not doing so

Any pointers/suggestions on this scenario are welcome!!

Thank you.

Questions regarding migrating Content Database from SP 2010 to SP 2013

Hi,

I am migrating the sharepoint 2010 to sharepoint 2013 using content database attach/detach method, however have following question about the process

1. When migrating the content database from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013 [using detach -- restore -- attach], does the GUID's of various components in SharePoint 2010 like FARM GUID, Site GUID, Web GUID, List GUID, Item GUID is maintained in the destination environment i.e. in SharePoint 2013??

- If No: is there any way in which we can ensure the GUID's in the source environment are being maintained in the destination environment.

Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks!!

SharePoint Scaling from 2-tier to 3-tier Architecture

I have 2-tier SharePoint farm consists of one application server(used also as WFE in the same time) and on Database server as described below:

it has been requested by the customer to scale the farm to be 3-tier farm by creating a new WFE (Server 03) to communicate with the Server 02 (DB Server) only via Server 01 (Application Server) as described below:

So we need to achieve that:

if Server 01 is down the portal should be down also as there is no communication between the new WFE (Server 03) and the DB Server (Server 02).

So I've created the new WFE (Server 03) and joined it to the farm and I've started the following services only on that server:

and it works great as WFE.

BUT Unfortunately

The SharePoint farm considered that it is an Application Server not only a WFE and when I shutdown Server 01 it can communicate with DB Server and the portal is still online.

When I run the following command:
Get-SPServer  | select name, role

I get the following result:

What should I do to make the new Server 03 act as WFE only to communicate with DB Server only via Server 01(Application Server)?

Knowing that it is very easy in SharePoint 2016 as it is done via central administration directly as described in the following link:

http://blog.libinuko.com/2016/03/sharepoint-2016-how-to-change-server-role-after-provisioning/

Thanks a lot,

Dear All

I have a SharePoint 2016 and OOS server.

when I try to open document from my browser in sharepoint. Prompt message will pop-out when it try to preview a document:

"sorry, there was a problem and we can't open this document. If this happens again, try opening the document in Microsoft word"

When I check Event in OOS server, there is an error display:

"Could not contact WOPI End Point. Error details - 'Unauthorized url - https://sp16.abc.com/_vti_bin/wopi.ashx/files/80f07e554d7c4179a905b351252e43f3?access_token=REDACTED_1074&access_token_ttl=1481132219759'."

I have checked and confirmed the following information:

1. Web application is Claims Based Authentication2.WOPI zones match on the SharePoint 2013 and the Office Web Apps Server farm

3.We only use HTTPS URL

   OWA URL: https://ooa.abc.com

   sharepoint URL: https://sp16.abc.com

4. SharePoint has enabled Excel SOAP API

5.Get-OfficeWebAppsHost is null

Kindly advise on how should I resolve this issue.

thank you very much!

Webservice all of a sudden timing out.

I need some guidance on what to investigate. My sysadmin is giving me the shrugged shoulders look, since I don't have specifics on what is wrong.

I have a powershell running on a non-SharePoint server, using webservices to delete items from a list and insert new items. It's been running for a year.

2 weeks ago it was running just fine - deleting 200 items took 10 seconds, inserting 200 items took seconds..... It basically deleted 2000 items and then readded them back (there was no unique 'key' to allow an update, long story).
2 Sundays ago 11/27 the script started timing out - deleting 100 items timed out at the 90 second mark.

Observations so far:

1. I created a new list and tried that (thinking very large ID numbers might be weird). Same timeouts
2. Timeouts are happening on another list in same site, different powershell.
3. However, 5 other powershells on different lists doing similar work are running just fine.
4. The usual 'no sql changes, updates, no server changes, updates'
5. Rebooting SharePoint servers didn't work.
6. Other site collections are not having problems with web services timing out (we use webservices and powershell to run lots of email reminders)
7. Tried rewriting the script to deal with 100 items at a time, with sleeps between sections, still times out.
8. Nothing in the logs that we can see.

What causes web service list item actions to slow down in sql? The SQL guy says he can see heavy load at times but no matter when I run this script interactively it times out. We don't see any full logs or disk space or anything like that.

Rebooting the servers should restart all the services, correct?

It's one of these things where it's difficult to call MS and say 'something is wrong but I can't give you specifics'.

SSRS DBS Showing Database is in compatibility range and upgrade is recommended

We have a server in our farm that is dedicated to serving SSRS reports. SSRS is installed in SharePoint integrated mode. The SP1 was added to the DB (SQL 2012) a couple of months back. Afterwards our 3 SSRS databases were showing " Database is in compatibility range and upgrade is recommended".

I ran PSConfig.exe -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -force -cmd applicationcontent -install -cmd installfeatures. I reran the health rule and it disappeared. A few days later it showed up again. I reran psconfig and reran the  health analyzer rule and it disappeared again however this time I checked the database upgrade status page and there it still shows the "Database is in compatibility range and upgrade is recommended" message. This evening I reran this command, first on the SSRS App server, then on the app server that hosts CA (Previously I ran it on this one first) and finally on the WFE. This message still persists on the upgrade status page.

I have a hunch that the reason is this:

Our SharePoint 2013 Databases are Microsoft SQL Server 2012 (SP3-GDR) (KB3194721) - 11.0.6248.0 (X64)
 Enterprise Edition: Core-based Licensing (64-bit) on Windows NT 6.3 <X64> (Build 9600: ) (Hypervisor)

Our SSRS Database running on the Microsoft SQL Server 2016 (SP1) (KB3182545) - 13.0.4001.0 (X64) Standard Edition (64-bit) on Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard 6.3 <x64>(Build 9600: ) (Hypervisor)

CMIS Export Issue: Greater less than specific FLOAT number causes ERROR

$

We have a Java application where we OCR documents and extract data. The extracted data along with the document is then exported to SharePoint using CMIS v1.0. We are using org.apache.chemistry.opencmis v0.10.0 api to connect to SharePoint and export document along with the meta data.

But recently facing a strange issue with one of the extracted value. The issue is that for specific float values in the extracted fields (index fields), we are receiving an error from CMIS, halting the further processing in application for that document but at the SharePoint end, the document and values are exported successfully. Data types for the index fields in the Java application and SharePoint are String and Single Line of Text respectively which are identical and compatible and should not cause an issue.

The issue is with the float value 2,108.17 and similar values for any of the index field in the document. The issue is not replicated in following cases and the documents are exported along with meta data properly witout an issue.
a.If the decimal value is greater than .29 e.g. 2,108.30
b.If before comma (,) we have 2 digits e.g. 32,108.17
c.If the value is without comma e.g. 2108.17

After debugging, we observed that in any case correct values are passed on to CMIS API. Below is the error snippet from CMIS

Caused by: org.apache.chemistry.opencmis.commons.exceptions.CmisRuntimeException: Found

We are unable to find any clue related to this issue. Can someone please help us with this issue. Thanking in anticipation.

Change from HTTP to HTTPS

We have a setup with three servers.  One database, one web server, and one Office Web Apps server.  It was installed and configured to use HTTP only.  I have a certificate on the main web server and that is working good.  On the Office Web Apps server, I have the certificate to the computers personal store, but now I just need to configure OWA to use it.

I can only find information for configuring HTTPS during a new install but not for changing a current install.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Thanks.

Already tried the following:

  1. Re-entering the passwords required by SQL- & SharePoint-related services.
  2. Increasing the free space by removing files and clearing old logs.
  3. Defragmenting the server's hard disk.
  4. Tweaking the paging file size.

Below are some of the last events logged by the server. Hope you could help, ASAP. Thanks.

404 Error on MySites Web Application

Hello,

I had created a seperate MySites Web application from my actual sharepoint site. I'm a bit confused what is going on and why it is not showing up. I have the Certificate properly installed in IIS and is binded to the site. I've created the Site Collection, set up the permissions policy, user policy, and the self-service site creation.

So How I have it set up is AggieShare is my mail web application and mysites is on it's own. I added a wildcard inclusion called mysites for the mysites web app. Do I needed to add that same wildcard inclusion on aggieshare's managed paths?

Configuring App Store on SharePoint 2013 Complete instructions

Hi, i am looking for complete instructions on Creating App catalog on SharePoint 2013.

From A to Z.

MSDN does not include all the steps:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/fp179923(v=office.15)

Lots of people refer to this article but also is incomplete:

http://sharepointchick.com/archive/2012/07/29/setting-up-your-app-domain-for-sharepoint-2013.aspx

and so on.

I have the DNS configures, i have run the scripts and App management and Subscription settings is running.

I need to create the App Catalog site....Most of the articles does not cover this.

So i need to create a Web App with no host header? So do i create the url as Server name on port 80?

If i create the app catalog do select that Web App?

Then where does the blank site collection in the root come in?

Thanks, if there is any sites that cover this it would be appreciated.
