I'm trying to stop some workflows that have "Deleted Association" as the name of the workflow. I understand it is from removing a workflow and so I can't click the link and stop it. I've tried powershell but that doesn't seem to stop it either.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Hello,

I have a single server instance of SharePoint 2013, and looking through the System event logs, I am seeing every 3 minutes there are 2 errors logged with a source of "Service Control Manager".

The first error is always something like:

"The SharePoint Timer Service service terminated with the following service-specific error:
Unspecified error."

The second error is always something like:

"The SharePoint Timer Service service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 260 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 30000 milliseconds: Restart the service."

Another thing I am noticing is that none of the Timer Jobs that are supposed to run on a schedule have ran since two weeks ago, and manually starting the Timer Jobs is not working.

Nothing is jumping out at me while looking through the ULS logs.

What are some things that can cause this error? This is occurring in our production environment which makes this issue critical.

I am at my wit's end trying to figure out the following problem:

We have an SP2013 SP1 installation with a fairly standard setup. About a month or so ago, both of the WFEs began throwing the exact same errors every 2 to 3 minutes. The Event IDs are 7024 and 7031. 7024 indicated that the timer service had terminated with a server-specific error of Unspecified error. 7031 basically reiterated that by telling me the service had terminated unexpectedly, how many times it had done so and when the next corrective action would take place. After a few minutes the Timer service restarts itself, runs for 2 or 3 minutes and then deja vu.

In the ULS logs I have found the following sequence of events that occur at the same time that the 7024 and 7031 errors are being thrown:

I have either verified or done the following:

Verified that service account timer service is running under has proper permissions

Verified that account has proper permissions to config db in sql

Cleared out the config cache, and reset cache.ini file

Rerun spconfig successfully

Couple of things to note:

This appears to have started soon after an attempt to update to Nintex Workflows 2013 was unsuccessful. I say appears because we unfortunately don't have space to store logs for longer than a couple of weeks so I can't go back and confirm that; I'm relying upon my own memory recall for that.

In CA, neither WFE has any timer jobs scheduled to be run

Any help anyone could offer would be most most appreciated.

Hi,

we have a single server sharepoint 2013 server.

HTTP and HTTPS access are enabled for sharepoint site collection. The bindings and aam are set correctly.

The HTTPS access suddenly stopped working. Might be related to updates installation.

HTTP access is working properly.

When I create a new non sharepoint site in IIS the HTTPS access works.

When I create a new sharepoint site in IIS the HTTPS access does not work only HTTP access is possible. There is no response from the server.

Following event log error message might be related to this problem:

Schanel 36888 Error: A fatal alert was generated and sent to the remote endpoint. This may result in termination of the connection. The TLS protocol defined fatal error code is 10. The Windows SChannel error state is 1203.

I checked the ULS, Event logs, changed bindings, tried creating new sharepoint web applications to find the source,

Any ideas?

Hello,

I am running a single server instance of SharePoint 2013 in my companies prod environment. The issue I am facing is that the Distributed Cache Service will not start when attempting to start from Central Administration. When I click start, the page reloads and it still says the service is stopped. What are some possible causes and fixes for this? Also, it may be worth the mention that I am having an error in the event log every 3 minutes communicating that the timer service has stopped and restarted.

I have custom solution (Client side solution) deployed in the SharePoint 2013. All the Site contents throws the following error after the solution is deployed. I went through few blogs with the similar issue. In few blogs it is unanswered and in few blogs it shows that Web.config file is missing in 15 hive which is in the Program files.

1) I didn't find the Web.config file in the Program files to change from <Custom Errors = False>

2) IMP Question is : As this is a Client side Solution, the Error shows as server Error in '/' Application is it shown below.

Can Someone help me to fix this issue?

Options to create a "test" (i.e., copy of production) SP 2013 site?

I'd like to create a create a carbon copy of our existing, production SP 2013 site, which is:http://inside.ourdomain.com.

I'd like to house the database for the "test" site on the same server that's running our production database and I know I need to create a new content database using either powershell or the GUI of SP Central Administration.

I want to create the test site as http://insidetest.ourdomain.com so I'm guessing I need to create both a DNS record for insidetest.ourdomain.com as well as a host header within IIS for the same value.

As far as creating the copy of our production site, should I use the "copy-spsite" method, or the "backup-spsite" and "restore-spsite" method? I'm sure there are pros/cons to both methods but the copy-spsite looks easier and pretty goof-proof?

I am working with SharePoint 2013 , Win 2012.

Our office webapps server is already setup , I am guessing the internal URL is not https . see below

PS H:\> Get-SPWOPIZONE

This was set up for dev so it is not https. Now I am doing a set up for prob and it is https. can I use this existing web apps server. if yes how can I do the binding if the OWA farm is not https. I have a wild card certificate which I am using for the production https portal site. I want to use the same certificate. Do I even need certificate at this point as the SharePoint site is already set up with it. I am confused how this works.

Unable to hide a subsite from navigation

I am unable to hide/show pages & subsites from the navigation in SharePoint Server 2013 (15.0.4841.1000 July 2016 CU).

I have SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure enabled at the site collection level and SharePoint Server Publishing enabled at the site level.

I want to change the navigation for a site, this is what I do:

I click on the gear -> Site Settings
Under Look and Feel, I click on Navigation
I verify that under Global Navigation, "Show subsites" and "Show pages" are already checked - no need to change this
I verify that under Current Navigation, "Show subsites" and "Show pages" are already checked - no need to change this
I scroll down to "Structural Navigation: Editing and Sorting" I click on a subsite, and then click on the "Hide" button, the selected subsite now has the word "(hidden)" beside it
I click on the "OK" button at the bottom right
I check to see if my subsite is still showing up in the navigation - it is.
I go back into the navigation settings, my subsite does not have the word "(hidden)" beside it.

Noodling around I have found:

I cannot Hide any pages or subsites.
I cannot Show any pages or subsites that are already hidden.
I can add new links and headings
I can edit links and headings
I can delete links and headings
I can reorder the navigation - this includes links, headings, subsites & pages

So, it looks like on the navigation settings page it will apply any changes except Hide/Show changes. I know that as a hack I could uncheck "Show subsites" and add in all of the links manually, but I would rather have SharePoint take care of the navigation automatically. But I still want the ability to tweak that navigation. Has anyone else run into this? Any ideas on how to fix this?

I was able to fix my navigation with powershell:

However, users still cannot update the navigation through the GUI.

I want to say that this was introduced in the July CU, but I can't say for sure...

Is anyone able to reproduce this? Is there a fix?

Let Image Show from AWA to Access Desktop

Hello, how can I make the image to show from AWA image to a linked Access desktop.

I observed that all other table records shows except the image.

It shows it as a number datatype in MS Access Desktop.

What can I do to make the image picture show as well in the access database since there is a link to the database online.

I'm reviewing the SP groups in a Site Collection, and we have the default groups (listed here https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Default-SharePoint-groups-in-SharePoint-Server-50855943-c151-42bf-b6ea-07f2bb366ecc)

I have groups set up in my site that reflect the business needs. Is there any reason I should not delete those default groups?

Prior to our upgrade to SharePoint 2013 when using a List form and creating a new item each field that we were entering on the list would auto populate from previous entries in this form. The population was only what had been done in sharepoint (i.e. not at all related to Internet Explorer) since upgrading to 2013 we no longer have that ability, now what it is trying to populate is from Internet Explorer instead of unique to what was previously keyed in that field in SharePoint. Help!!! How can I get my old ability back?

Suddenly search stopped working for all sites for Non Default zones in AAM, it has always worked before. We have not changed any configuration related to search or AAM.

We see below error in ULS logs

SP to manage physical document like a record manager

Understand that SP recommend Record manager to manage/track the physical documents. but after reviewing all the related post, just want to make sure i get the solutions correct.

1. create more document metadata to track the hardcopy location record.

2. enable barcode features.

questions:

1. is it all SP record manager can do for record (physical document) management

2. if by using document metadata to update the current hardcopy document status, there will be no history to track the trail of hardcopy document

3. how to fully utilise the barcode? can have a scanner to scan on the barcode that printed out and stick on the physical document for system to automatically update the document metadata in SP?

I am using Interwoven Record Manager as reference.

I am currently using SharePoint Foundation 2013. When performing a search on a document, the search is giving me all results at a subsite. Is there any search filters that can be applied at a document library level to return results found within the document library?

Please advise if this is possible.

Hello,

It's been a week now since i'm facing this issue. Whenever i try to create a new service application or web application on a fresh staging VM then it throws the same 'Request timed out' error. I've increased the Ping Period, Shutdown time limit and Startup time limit under Central Admin's App Pool. Removed everything and tried created again. Replaced with the new app server. All goes in vain.

There is a physical server which has 2 VMs. One for DB and the one for App/WFE. 14 GB assigned to both VMs. No space issue. Server seems pretty fine with usage doesn't go above 20%.

Any idea? Please help.

How can I do this? I can only find articles related to migrations from SP 2010 to 2013.

Can someone please provide me with an insight on this. My workflows are failing (both out of the box and SPD developed) with the error "The e-mail message cannot be sent. Make sure the outgoing e-mail settings for the server are configured correctly." I have checked my email settings configuration and all seems to be correctly configured.

Recently, my company migrated to Exchange online. could this be the reason?

Could un-installing SharePoint designer which is installed inside sharepoint server affect sharepoint itself

I have two sharepoint farms; Live & Test. both have the following software specification.

sharepoint enterprise server 2013, with SP1.
installed inside windows server 2008 R2.

now when i build our Live & Test servers , i have install sharepoint designer 2013.but lately i have read many articles which mentioned that it is recommended not to install any office or other application other than sharepoint inside sharepoint servers. so now i am planning to un-install sharepoint designer .. now on our Test server, i followed these steps:-

Control Panel.
Uninstall a program.
select sharepoint designer 2013.
click on remove.

and the SP designer got uninstalled correctly.but before doing so on live server can any one advice on this point:-

Since both SharePoint service 2013 & SharePoint Designer 2013 are both within the office suite,, and they might share some patches , updates and .dll files.. so my concern if i un-install sharepoint designer inside the sharepoint server could this remove .dll or patches which is related to sharepoint ? or un-installing sharepoint designer will not affect sharepoint and will not conflict with the .dlls , patches related to sharepoint??
