Error when trying to create a site collection

Hi, 

I receive the following error when trying to create a site collection in sharepoint 2013. Any ideas of what I can do to resolve?

KB3085483 broke SharePoint workflows design capability

Yesterday, we got a message on APP Server that Windows must apply critical updates. One of the applied update is 

"Security update for microsoft sharepoint enterprise server (KB 3054813)"

Since this update is applied, i can't edit any of the sharepoint workflows from SharePoint designer. 

This is not a SharePoint designer client issue as i have tried SPD from many client machines.

The key problem is that SPD can't download the file Microsoft.SharePoint.WorkflowServices.Activities.Proxy.DLL with version 15.0.0.4753

I have tried many solution (clearing cache, manually copying files from working sharepoint farm etc) but nothing has worked. I always get error message

"The list of workflow actions on the server references an assembly that doesn't exist on server"

The update applied by windows is uninstallable. 

I manage other SharePoint farms, where this update is not applied and those are working fine.

What should i do ?

After migration, on newly added list when trying to add new item, sharepoint redirects to default page

I'm experiancing this super strange behavior.

After migration from 2010 to 2013, whenever add new list and tries to add new item (with ui), sharepoint redirects me to home page.

What could be the reason for such behavior?

Excel Services in SharePoint By Default collapse the slicer pane and pivot field pane

On Load of the Excel Services in SharePoint, Collapse both side panes by default. Ie the slicer pane on the left and pivotfields on the right so that it gives more room for the graph.

Is there a way to achieve it?

On loading the excel services, it should look like below.

Manage powerpivot data refresh to Acess databse

HI,

We have created a data connection to access database which has never been a successful refresh after configuration. Data connection is imported to excel work book which has been uploaded on SharePoint data connection library.  

Strangely, other excel which is connected to SQL server works fine but for Access data base it shows failure status with generic message.

"Call to Excel Services returned an error"

Have checked every possible way and now wonder if its even possible for Access Database.

Kindly suggest.

SharePoint 2016 Release Candidate (Beta 2) install issue

Hello,

We are facing the following issues in installing SharePoint 2016 Beta 2 when attempting to have Release Candidate.

We encountered issues during Windows Update.
Windows update got downloaded successfully but failed with 'We couldn't complete the updates. Undoing changes' after restart.

Skipped the Windows Update due to “KB2919355” failure
Though
the “KB2919355” were installed successfully (as shown in the step 7
screenshot) it shows to be installed in Windows Update.

Encountered the following error in running 'SharePoint 2016 Products Configuration Wizard'
The
program can't start because api-ms-win-crt-heap-l1-1-0.dll is missing
from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.”

Can anyone point to the reason for this behavior and how to solve it?

Workflow fails

Hi ive just installed SharePoint 2013 and project server 2013 and I can successfully publish workflow to the relevant locations. However when running a workflow even a simple SharePoint site workflow with a log to history list the workflow fails with an error:

In logs im just seeing some basic errors:

OneNote can't display some of your notebooks. Please try viewing them on OneDrive for Business.

I think this problem is due to a deleted notebook on Onedrive which is not being updated at the initial page for opening Onenote notebooks.

Since I can not locate the notebook in question on Onedrive, how do I remove it from this list?

Please see attached. The one highlighted in yellow is the one that gives error 404 not found when clicked on and has been deleted from Onedrive.

SharePoint 2013 with .NET Framework 4.5.2

We have already installed SharePoint foundation 2013 and all our projects has Target Framework as 4.5. Our customer wanted us to upgrade .NET Framework 4.5.2. So, I did the following to achieve upgrade

1) Download and Installed .NET Framework 4.5.2 Developer Pack from https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=42637

2) After installing above developer pack, the following has listed under "Programs and Features" in Control Panel

  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2 Multi-Targeting Pack
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2 Muliti-Targeting Pack (ENU)

3) Open Visual Studio 2013 and right click the project properties and found that .NET Framework 4.5.2 has listed under "Target Framework" dropdown for all the projects except SharePoint Projects.

4) For SharePoint Projects, .NET Framework 4.5.2 has not listed under "Target Framework" dropdown, instead it displays only.NET Framework 4.5

I just want to know why sharepoint project has not listed .NET Fralework 4.5.2when other projects has this option.

PS: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3087184 - I understand through this URL, sharepoint foundation 2013 will support .NET Framework 4.6 and .NET framework must be install on top of sharepoint 2013. Like the way, I ran .NET framework 4.5.2 on top of sharepoint foundation 2013.

Could anyone help me on this?

February 2016 SharePoint 2013 Updates Wrecked SharePoint

We have 3 SharePoint 2013 3-tier environments (dev, prod, & test) running on Windows 2012 Servers. They've been up and running for about 2 years and get patched every month.

Last week we patched the dev and test environments with the February patches and both environments are now unusable.

All of the webapp pages come up with "Sorry, Something went wrong."

Critical Load control template file /_controltemplates/15/EditPreview.ascx failed: Thread was being aborted.
Application error when access /Pages/Default.aspx, Error=Request timed out.
Unexpected System.Web.HttpException: Request timed out.
High     Getting Error Message for Exception System.Web.HttpException (0x80004005): Request timed out.

The Central Admin loads, but it's excruciatingly slow (which is not normal) and the health analyzer pages come up with "Sorry, Something went wrong."

Critical Load control template file /_controltemplates/15/AclEditor.ascx failed: Thread was being aborted.
Medium Application error when access /Lists/HealthReports/AllItems.aspx, Error=Request timed out.
Unexpected System.Web.HttpException: Request timed out.
High Getting Error Message for Exception System.Web.HttpException (0x80004005): Request timed out.

All 3 of the SharePoint reporting databases are reporting "Database is in compatibility range and upgrade is recommended", but they do not upgrade no matter how many times psconfig.exe is executed.

We've spent 2 days on the phone with Microsoft tech support with 2 different techs that both ended up taking logs and saying they'd get back to us after they install the patches in their labs. The config wizard has been run numerous times, both from command line and from the GUI, with no change in behavior.

Permissions to registry settings, temporary .NET files, and LOGS folders have been checked. The configuration cache has been cleared multiple times. Creating an entirely new web application produces the same results.

We could restore to pre-patch, but then we're stuck - since we don't know what caused the issue we can't move forward with patching any of the environments.

Has anyone else experienced this? Or fixed it?

Kerberos with load balanced SSAS

Hello everyone,

I have a production environment with 4 SharePoint servers (2 WFEs, 2 App), 2 SSAS Servers, 2 SQL Server Servers (Database). I also have two load balancers : the first one handles balancing requests between the two WFEs, and the second handles requests between the two SSAS Servers. For SQL Databases, the two servers are configured for AlwaysOn HighAvailabilty with a listener.

My requirement is to configure Kerberos Constrained delegation for the whole package. This is configured and works perfectly between SharePoint and SQL. But it is not working between SharePoint and SSAS, which does not suprise me because of the following :

  • To access SSAS databases, we use a VIP from the load balancer (for example : 10.11.12.13\ASInstance)
  • SPNs were created for SSAS accounts with fqdns of the SSAS servers (MSOLAPSvc.3\[FQDN(and without) of SSAS Server A]:[Instance Name] and MSOLAPSvc.3\[FQDN(and without) of SSAS Server B]:[Instance Name])

I've been thinking of two solutions :

  • Create a Host A DNS entry with the VIP of the load Balancer and add the SPN of MSOLAPSvc.3
  • Or, setup a HTTP EndPoint for SSAS (Datapump) and use it on Excel Services and RS Reports on SharePoint.

Am I thinking this right ? I'm not sure the first solution will work. If any Guru can give me some advice on how to deal with this it would be great. I can test the two solutions but I'm under the gun with this configuration, that's what I'm looking for THE solution to this.Thanks

Office Web Apps 2013 - Excel data connection authentication error

Hi,

when I try the Data Connection Refresh on my Office Web Apps 2013 service I receive the error:

I have looked on the internet and documentation and the problem was solved using the Secure Store

My problem is I have many different user with different data access permission and is not possible the duplication of all user as credentials in secure store. I can configure Office Web Apps 2013 use the Sharepoint/Windows authenticated user exactly as ExcelServices?

Actually I have used  "New-SPWOPISuppressionSetting -Extension XLSX -Action View" and bypass the problem. The user display the file and refresh connection. But if they go to EDIT IN EXCEL ONLINE the problem come again!

Office Web Apps new menu

Good afternoon all, 

 In our 2013 environments we have configured Office Web Apps.  Everything appears to be working as expected with previews and opening in the browser.  However, when going to the New Document drop-down or + sign only "New Document" is displayed, none of the Office types are listed.  Are there additional configuration steps or settings needed to get the office types to display?

Good Day

Am configuring esri web part then I get a warning staing [ Esri Maps App is not configured Ask your SharePoint administrator to complete click link Esri Maps App Configuration.] and this link takes me to an Esri Maps App Configuration with a message [You do not have permissions to manage App Configuration. Please contact your SharePoint administrator ]. Am the administrator and I have tried everything I could get on the internet but still no luck.
