User Profile Sync Connection deletion error 'The delete operation failed'
Hi Everyone,
When I try to delete an existing synchronization connection - most of the time I run into an error message "The delete operation failed. Please try again later". I was able to delete a couple of connections initially ... after a reboot of the Central Admin server couple more. but for the rest everytime running into the above error message. Any suggestion what causing this?
I've tried few things without any luck:
- No sync job is running
- Stopped the timer service
- Disabled the sync job
- disabled the mysite cleanup job
- iisreset
- tried restarting the sync service
- can't be a permission issue since tried with the farm account
- Happening in multiple farms with or without SP1

User Profile Service Application upgrade issues
Hello all,
I am doing an upgrade test from SP2010 to SP2013 following the technet article

At some point, you need to export the encryption key and import it to the new farm.
The export operation goes just fine, but when I try to import it on SP2013 using the command
miiskmu.exe /i Path {0E19E162-827E-4077-82D4-E6ABD531636E}
I get the following error:
"The operation encountered an error and cannot be completed.
Error: Object reference no set to an instance of an object.
Error Code:80004003
Has anybody had this problem while upgrading the UPSA?

Cannot load custom login form
Hello everyone
My custom login page does not loaded. After upgrade my application from Sharepoint 2010 up to Sharepoint 2013. My zone that I've configured as form based authentication cannot load login page. Membership using Active Directory users
I've check all parameters in web.config (web app / central administration / security token service). I don't known what's happened

result: Cannot display my custom login page
Single Web App w/ Host Named Site Collections OR Multiple Web Apps w/ Host Headings
I am setting up a new SharePoint 2013 Enterprise environment. It will be a relatively small farm with a single server acting as Web Server and App Server and a SQL 2012 DB server for the backend. We have around 100 users.
I was attempting to configure My Sites and I noticed the TechNet article suggests that My Sites have their own Web Application. But when I was researching this last month I read a differentTechNet article that said the preferred architecture is to have a single Web Application and use Host Named Site Collections.
I foresee us needing these Site Collections:
- Sites for each department
- Search Center
- My Sites
- Document Center
- BI Center
I know I can accomplish this using a single web application and path based collections, a single web application and host based headers, or multiple web applications and host headers, but I'm looking for the pros and cons of each method.
Users are accessing the site via RDSH servers and we are using NTML security. There won't be a need for a lot self site creation, in fact once it's setup I don't see a lot of site collections or pages being created. Basically I just want the URLs to be user friendly and site navigation to be as simple as possible.
Can anybody help clarify the differences for me?

I'm attempting to add an application server to an exisiting farm. However when I run the configuration wizard to connect to the exisiting farm an error is thrown "The database name is not a valid configuration database"...but it is because thats tha database the main WFE connects to!
The ULS logs point to an 'Unknown SQL error 53...named pipes etc etc'.
- I'm using a SQL alias with a non standard port...the same SQL alias as my SP servers
- Named pipes are enabled on the SQL server
- I'm running the wizard using my SP_Admin, the same account as I've always done
- I've checked the SP_Admin permissions on SQL...they are correct
- I've updated and checked that my SP servers are all running the same version of SP
- I've disabled the SQL firewall just in case...no luck.
I've spent a silly amount of time trying to figure this one out! If anybody could point me the in the right direction it would hugely appreciated.

Distibuted cach Service - configuration on server
Hi Folks,
I would be grateful, if some one assist.
In existing prod server we were facing performance issue, so now We are planning to do setup 2WFE,2APP 1Search, 2DB.
user around will be 10000 including future.
We are getting bit confuse Distributed cach service to configure separate server or can configure 1 app server which i have mentioned above.
Please let me clear, should i use separate server for Distributed cach service, or shall i use one app server for DCS and excel service.\
If i do that will I get again performance issue, which is the best way to do.
Please make me clear and give some inputs from your end.

SharePoint User Profile Synchronization fails on MOSS_FULLIMPORT step in miisclient.exe

My UPS is failing on MOSS_FULLIMPORT step in miisclient and won't update existing profiles. The event log shows a 403 error and I can trace it back to the MySites IIS log and I see that there is a 403 response trying to load a profile picture for a user but there are no credentials in the log. The synchronization connection to AD is setup using ADFS and the MySites host authentication is also ADFS.
I can't find any documentation on what the MOSS_FULLIMPORT step is actually doing. And I don't know why this 403 error is showing up. Any ideas? Thanks!
Distributed cache info null + SharePoint 2013 server

As i have built a new server with windows default database, no domain setup for that server (Single Server) everything seems to be working but the distributed cache service is not started there (once i started its says- cacheHostInfo is null) i tried all the solution but unable to start the cache service.
Is this working on the single server where we have SP2013 with default database on sing server (no domain setup on that)-
Please help we need distributed cache to start on the server.

Outgoing Emails Doesnt Work for a Specific SharePoint 2013 Web Application

Got an Production SharePoint Farm with three tier architecture (WFE-2, APP-2, DB-2) where multiple Web Applications are hosted. one of the Web Application doesn't send Outgoing SMTP Emails while other are works like charm. This problematic Web App was Migrated from SP2010 to this 2013 Farm. Yet It works well in DEV Environment without any Issues.
Outgoing mail Works for other Web Applications and Email Server Settings remains same for all.
Have done Stsadm.exe -o getproperty -url http://SharePoint-web-App-URL -pn alerts-enabled and It retruns expected results too as "<Property
Exist="Yes" Value="yes" />"
Have tried to initiate a basic approval Workflow and Default Alerts to Libraries and Lists by Adding Alerts and no luck.
Any Idea would greatly Appreciate !

Newly upgraded to SP 2013 site on fresh VMs stopped loading (barely 12 hours after upgrade).

Strange priviledge problem - browse directories AND edit page

Hope this is the right group.
We have a problem with out Sharepoint 2013 Extranet site.
The workspace members have contribute privileges which seem to be too liberal. After digging into the problem we finally found out that for some reason the Browse directories-privileges (including WebDav and Sharepoint Designer-rights) also "open" edit page privileges, though it was not our goal (actually not having it is our goal). We are not using Sharepoint Designer, but WebDav is needed for the explorer view which we would very much to allow.
Any ideas?

Basically we have .NET application and it has link to Office 365 site. I want to implement SSO between .NET Application and Office 365, so that user don't have to enter credentials again for Office 365 site.

There might be an easy way, e.g. for SharePoint 2013 180-day evaluation users, to install it on Windows Server 2012 R2, despite of the evaluation version being still without SP1 intergrated, and slipstreaming not possible according to MS, due to changes in the packaging:
-download Sharepoint2013 Foundation with SP1 from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42039
-extract the exe via e.g. 7zip to any folder
-use the prerequisiteinstaller in the folder where you extracted the exe to, as it will work with 2012 R2
-reboot
-install SharePoint eval, which is still without SP1
-install SP1 after that
-run Windows Update
->seems to work, at least for install at the moment

Routing document set from one site collection to another site collection (Document Center)

I am trying to roué the Document set from one site in a site collection to another site (Document center site) in separate site collection. I have enabled Content Organizer and it's rules. I have also enabled to connection to another site collection successfully. I am able to move the documents but whenever I try to move the document set it throws this error:
Unable to create a Document Set
because the Content Organizer is configured to send this Document Set to another
Content Organizer. Please contact your administrator.
I have enabled the source abd destination sites to accept the document sets but it is still not working. Any clue!!!
