SPS 2013 Foundation - how to disable Sharepoint Indexing?

$

I just installed Microsoft Identity Manager 2016 on top of SPS 2013 Foundation.  I have many SharePoint Server Search 121 errors and the MIM best practices are to disable Search Indexing timer jobs.

The documentation is based on FIM 2010  \ SPS 2010 and it states to go to SharePoint Central Administration console, the Timer Job screen and DISABLE the "SharePoint Foundation Search Refresh" job.

What job do I disable for SPS 2013?

Thanks, Stu

Modify WorkflowInstanceName association to list from Powershell

Moved the site collection by database detach/attach (1 site collection/content db) . there is a SP 2013 list workflow deployed from SPD 2013 . on the migrated site collection in the list when click on workflow status column fail with "We cant find the workflow" error. from ULS log found the issue. URL requested is in format:

<a href="http://_layouts/15/wrkstat.aspx?List=<GuidList>&WorkflowInstanceName=<WorkflowInstanceGuid">http://<site_collection>_layouts/15/wrkstat.aspx?List=<GuidList>&WorkflowInstanceName=<WorkflowInstanceGuid>

the list guid remains the same (as in original site collection) but the workflow instance name guid becomes different and this is why SP cannot find worflow.

Can get the WFM and association like below

#Getting a Workflow manager object to work with.
 $wfm = New-object Microsoft.SharePoint.WorkflowServices.WorkflowServicesManager($spSourceweb)

#Getting the subscriptions
 $sub = $wfm.GetWorkflowSubscriptionService()

$WFAssociations = $sub.EnumerateSubscriptionsByList($spSourcelist.ID) | Where-Object {$_.Name -eq "$TargetWorkflow"}

but cannot get in Powershell

1. the WorkflowInstanceName and

2. how to update WorkflowInstanceName for each item of the list

Hi,

i am having following "Performance metrics provider" timer job error all servers in the farm. its not going away even i cleared the config cache from all the servers and checked the farm account has read/write permission and memebers of WSS_ADMIN_WPS, WSS_WPG. is there any way we can remediate this issue?

The Execute method of job definition Microsoft.SharePoint.Diagnostics.SPDiagnosticsMetricsProvider (ID e1ca8893-3b75-46f4-a3f0-281f0733e1ed) threw an exception. More information is included below.

An update conflict has occurred, and you must re-try this action. The object SPWebService was updated by Domain\spuat_farm, in the OWSTIMER (2444) process, on machine SPAPPTEST01.  View the tracing log for more information about the conflict.

80004005 and 80070012 errors - but site still works?

$

Hi

I've looked around but there is a paucity of information on this one.   I have repeated errors in the ULS relating to not being able to get Document Content.  However, the site is still working fine!

Every file on, for example the home page, reports an error (this includes CSS files, PNG etc.).    It affects both the _catalog/masterpage and separate PublishingImages folders, for example.

Failed to get document content data. System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception (0x80004005): Cannot complete this function     at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPSqlClient.GetDocumentContentRow(Int32 rowOrd, Object ospFileStmMgr, SPDocumentBindRequest& dbreq, SPDocumentBindResults& dbres)

Could not get DocumentContent row: 0x80004005.

Spent 0 ms to bind -1 byte file stream

Failure when fetching document. 0x80070012

The files exist both on disk and have entries in the AllDocs and DocStream tables; all files are checked in and published and, as noted, they are actually being served to clients.

I did find a note regarding relationships and Group IDs, however, this is a single-language site so I don't think that applies?

I have also installed Desktop User Experience as someone suggested that might have caused Infopath to throw the above error - rather hit and miss fixing but it didn't work anyway.

All the accounts have the right permissions and there is nothing in the regular windows event log to indicate a problem.

So I am not sure what to look at next - I could just ignore it but that doesn't sit well!

Any ideas on where to start debugging next?

Thanks

Pete

On One of the site collection we need the Date Format as per ISO standards i.e   yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm (24h format).

In the Site collection Regional Settings we have selected the Locale as English (South Africa), unfortunately we are getting like 2015/09/01 is there any other option to get in the format 2015-09-01.

I found this blog http://blog.funknstyle.com/2012/08/working-with-date-formats-in-sharepoint-2010/ which talks about workaround but we are trying to achieve without creating the new columns.

any help is Much appreciated .

Restore-SPSite Error - 0x80070003

Hi there,

So my situation is I have a Content DB that is over 100GB in SP 2010.  My plan is to "split" it when I move the Site Collection to SP 2013.  So what I have done so far is:-

  1. Backup from SP 2010 environment;
  2. Restore to SP 2013 (SQL 2012) environment;
  3. Mount and upgrade Content DB to original URL - http://intranet/sites/Ops;
  4. Tests okay in browser etc in SP 2013 version
  5. Backup to a .bak file;
  6. Delete content from the mounted DB that is no longer needed
  7. Run the following command to restore to new URL and new Content DB
Restore-SPSite http://intranet/sites/NewURL -Path z:\SPS_Operations_7Apr1627.bak -ContentDatabase SPS_NewContenDB

Unfortunately, I get the below errors in the log file

Any ideas?

Where is sharepoint hosted?

I have a user on a Sharepoint-site.

My boss asked me to find out what solution our former IT guy choose when outsourcing this.

Is there a way to check were the Sharepoint is hosted, if the Company uses its own farm or Sharepoint online?

I can't access "Owner" or "Site Admin" accounts, as they are controlled by external Company.

Install Windows patches on High Available farm

Hi Guys,

I have a HA farm with multiple tires (2 DB,2 APP, 2 CASHE, 2 WFE). When I come to patching the windows security update can I run the windows update at the same time on all servers or do you recommend to do this each server by sever?

Also I wonder since they are HA, can i just patch a first node on each tire during the working hours and restart it whist the other node is up? or its best to patch them after working hours?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Hi Guys,

Since Microsoft decided to ship SP farm security patches with Windows updates i wonder what happen if I skip installing them?

For example see the screenshot below for KB3054861? I can see this KB related to the Excel services so i was thinking since I have a office web app farm (WAC) I really don't need to install this. Or i must do this?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Configure SharePoint 2013 Apps and iFrame error

Hi All,

I am configuring SharePoint Apps in SharePoint-hosting apps environment.

I have two domains:

  1. Contoso.com (intranet.contoso.com)
  2. Contoso-apps.com (For SharePoint Apps)

Using http protocol, I am able to install and run the apps as follows:

App URL works for HTTP as well:

But for https protocol, I get this error iFrame error:

 This content cannot be displayed in a frame To help protect the security of information you enter into this website, the publisher of this content does not allow it to be displayed in a frame.

AAM is as follows:

I have added both *.contoso.com and *.contoso-apps.com as trusted sites in Internet Explorer but error remains the same.

I have referred to http://blogs.msdn.com/b/officeapps/archive/2012/12/12/iframing-sharepoint-hosted-pages-in-apps.aspx and tried to add <WebPartPages:AllowFraming runat="server" /> in SharePoint Designer 2013 but the page gave error:

 Q: How can add theAllowFraming control on my page so that SharePoint Apps start working?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

August 2015 CU - List attachments give "File names can't contain the following characters:" message

$

After installing the August 2015 CU's, all sites in all web applications in the farm running on the SharePoint 2013 user interface have the following issue:

Any type of list with attachments allowed > Add or edit list item > Add attachment (in ribbon) > Successfully browse and select any file to attach > Click OK to add the attachment to the list item

A pop up stating “File names can’t contain the following characters:  & “ ? < > # {} % ~ ?/\.” is displayed.

These same steps work correctly in the same farm for sites using the SharePoint 2010 interface - this only seems to affect 2013 sites.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
