Sharepoint 2013 - Power Pivot Scheduled Refresh

Hi, we are facing a weird case in our sharepoint 2013 production server. We have a workbook uploaded to sharepoint power pivot gallery configured with scheduled refresh. When we check the data refresh history which is configured daily, everything shows that all data refresh are successful. But when user view the workbook, refresh data are not saved. Actually it always display the old data when excel was uploaded. When user do the manual data refresh that's the only time the latest data is displayed.

As what I read, scheduled refresh should save what ever latest data in the workbook on the time the scheduled was run.

Its really difficult to pinpoint the problem. since everything are ok. manual refresh is running and even there is no issue with schedule.

Highly appreciate your help and guidance on the above.

Disable data compression on SQL 2014 for SP 2013 content database

Dear all,

I want to disable the data compression for granular backup purposes on SQL 2014.

I found this command, but it only works for TFS databases:

EXEC [dbo].[prc_EnablePrefixCompression] @online = 0, @disable = 1

So my question is:

How to disable data compression on SQL 2014 for a SharePoint 2013 content database

load balance smtp drop queue on multiple front ends

hello. thanks for the time.

the other day we setup 2 SharePoint 2013 WFE with SMTP services to receive incoming mail.  and they both are...however the problem is that FE1 takes in about 75% of the emails in the drop folder while FE2 takes the remaining 25%.  Any way this can be done 50/50?

Also we have a public folder that forwards emails to a document library about every second...so we are getting backed up in the queue.  is it possible to have a dedicated Drop folder on a network share?  we tried to add a network share but the Front End IIS virtual SMTP service does not allow a network location...looks like it must be local to the server and I am guessing it would have to be a member of farm.  weird thing is we didn't see the issue in SP2010 ... it was able to handle the load on 2 front end servers.

Sharepoint 2013 Custom Login Page in FBA

Hi All,

Recently i created a SP-2013 FBA Application, but I am not able to login with my Custom Login Page (Application Page)

But i am able to login with default login page(http://localhost:5879/_forms/Default.aspx)

My Custom (http://localhost:5879/_layouts/15/LoginControls/CustomLoginpage.aspx)

I am getting a below error in Event Viewer

Event ID:- 8306

Error Details:- 

An exception occurred when trying to issue security token: An unsecured or incorrectly secured fault was received from the other party. See the inner FaultException for the fault code and detail..

Sideloading in SharePoint Online - still possible?

Background:

We're trying to program an app that'll sit in an AppPart in the Master Page for SharePoint Online sites; it'll manage navigation.  My developer has asked me to enabled sideloading for a test site collection.  

My account is a Global Tenant Admin, and I'm following the instructions here:

both to the letter, and with my own 'log on to SPO script (handles credentials slightly differently).  Both methods run

but I'm still getting:

Error encountered when trying to enable SideLoading feature https://{ourTenancy}sharepoint.com/sites/AppTest : Exception calling "ExecuteQuery" with"0" argument(s): "The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden."

Is there any chance that SideLoading has been disabled for some reason?

How to map an IIS virtual directory to a site?

Dear experts,

I have a WCF web servie host on the same server with my SharePoint web sites. The WCF web service use port 88 other than 80. But when I try to access it in Chrome, the OPTIONS method prevent me from accessing it.

So I hope to move the virtual directory of WCF web service beneath the SharePoint root site to share 80 port and avoid cross domain origin issue.

Is it possible? If it is, how to make it.

Visio web access is not available on this site whereas features are activated

Hi,

Like others people, i encounter the following error when i try to open a visio file in SharePoint 2013: visio web access is not available on this site

But, in my case, site feature and sites collection feature are well activated. Service application are configured and service are running.

Have you got any idea about this error.

Failed to get document content data SharePoint 2013 - Opening .jpeg´s in DocLib does show black x in IE 10

Hi together,

I try to open Pictures (JPEG) out of a document library. Since the Migration from SharePoint 2010 to 2013 it is not possible to open JPEGs. There is shown a black X if you click on a formerly working jpeg.

We are using SharePoint 2013 with Dezember 2014 CU.

If I click open in Explorer view, I am able to open these pictures with Windows Standard fax Viewer. One of these pictures I can open correctly within the browser.

Here are some of the ULS log entries I am getting arround the test I made with verboseex logging activated:


Failed to get document content data. System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception (0x80004005): Cannot complete this function     at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPSqlClient.GetDocumentContentRow(Int32 rowOrd, Object ospFileStmMgr, SPDocumentBindRequest& dbreq, SPDocumentBindResults& dbres)
Could not get DocumentContent row: 0x80004005.
Failure when fetching document. 0x80070012


I have no Idea how to resolve.

Opening These Pictures in Firefox is possible.....

Any ideas or suggestions?

SharePoint User Profiles Synchronisation issue with Active Directory - Email address has hyphen character

Dear Folks,

In my organisation there is an employee whose email address contains hyphen character.

When I check this person's user profile, I do not see this person's email address but other data like First Name and Last Name exist in the user profiles.

I feel Synchronization between User Profiles and Active Directory is not happening correctly for this user only. Especially email address as this property is empty for this user.

When I observe the email address of this person, I notice hyphen(-) character in the email address, could hyphen character cause this issue?

Could you please share your ideas what may have caused this or solution to fix this?

AD Users not picking after trust creation

Hi - I have deployed sharepoint in one server which is connected to DC1(Domain Controller 1 ) . After few months I have created a trust between DC1 with another domain controller (DC2) .  I have also cross checked the trust is working fine .  But I am unable to give rights to the users who are in DC2 . I am unable to resolve the users who are in  DC2 .   I have tried 100 ways to get my user profile sync working but no luck . 

Is there any other way with out UPS ? Is UPS is really required here ? will it not pickup automatically just like AD users ?

WSS_Logging DB getting to big in size

Currently, My Sharepoint LOG DB keeps growing. I change the configuration to only keep ULS logs for 5days and size stays under 5GB. Why does the DB keep growing.

I tried to set spusagedefinition but I keep getting errors:

Accidentally Deleted Web Application

So I did something really stupid. I was trying to delete a test web application that I had created. So I selected to delete my test web app in CA and clicked OK on the "Do you really want to delete this" message. I was working on a couple other things at the time and when I looked back over at my other screen I noticed that the delete dialogue was still there like the process was hung. For a second I thought maybe I didn't actually click delete (this was about the fourth time I'd deleted it so I thought maybe I had forgotten to actually click delete). So I clicked delete again. Apparently the delete functionality must work off of some kind of item index because then it deleted the next web app listed as well which just happened to be the main web app for our intranet. Luckily it didn't delete the IIS sites (just stopped them so I had to restart) or the content database. So after starting the IIS sites all was working again (we use a load balancing appliance to direct traffic to the WFEs). However, now my web app is gone in CA so if I ever want to add service applications to it then I'm pretty much screwed. What is the best way to recreate my web application? I was going to just create a new web application and chose to link it to an existing IIS site but my IIS site doesn't show in the drop-down list. Any advice on how to fix my idiotic mistake would be greatly appreciated.

Office Web App 2013 - Office Applications are showing preview in SharePoint 2013

Hi All,

In my SharePoint 2013 I am able to see the preview for ASPX pages and as well as Images. But not for Office documents (like Excel, PPT, Word). When I try to see the preview for these document it is giving 'An unexpected error has occurred.'

Note: Few days everything seems to be working. From day before yesterday things are wrong.

Any suggestion will be really appreciated.

Migrate from SP 2010 and issues

Hi I am in a process of planning SharePoint 2013 migration from SharePoint 2010. I executed the content database upgrade in the test environment and custom template is broken completely. Prior to upgrade the SP 2010 them looked everything working but after accessing some specific functionalities like Form webpart, xlst webparts are no longer working. Is there a set of known issues or broken functionalities and fixes required after upgrade to 2013? When I tried to upgrade, it failed.

Timer Job failing due to 0x80070003

Hi,

I have written like 5 timer jobs in my SP 2013 application and it is working fine in my dev server as well as QA servers. But when it went it to production its failing with the error message as <nativehr>0x80070003</nativehr><nativestack></nativestack>

Also when I looked at the ULS log i found an exception like this

Many timer jobs are showing "N/A" for their last run

I have SharePoint enterprise server 2013 with SP1, and i check my timer jobs and many of them are showing "N/A" beside their last run time, as follow:-

now i run the following command :-

Start-SPAdminJob -verbose

and i got the following :-

Exchange Task Sync error

I have configured the Task Synchronization between SharePoint 2013 and Exchange 2013 but the Sync is not working. 

I used the settings described in:

We get the following error in the ULS-Log:

It seems to me that SharePoint uses the external URL via autodiscover instead of the internal but all the configuration settings, described in the TechNet Articles above, where made with the internal URL.

Also something strange is that the SMTP Claim is Guido.neubecker@contoso.de which is not our default Mail-Domain.

Automate usage statistics reporting

Hi

Does anyone know if it possible to automate Usage reporting in SharePoint Online

Go to Site Settings --> [Site Collection Administration] Popularity and Search Reports --> Usage --> [Generates Excel workbook with statistics]

We've got a plethora of site collections we want to do this in. Is there anyway automate this? I cannot seem to find a direct url to the Excel sheet... Is there anyway to do it with PowerShell? Or DOES a direct URL exists?

Hi,

We have migrated our application from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013.

We have migrated the document libraries through export import.

Now we have noticed an issue post migration i.e.

For every document,it is displaying the account through which we have imported under view properties of the file.

So we want to display the original Modified By account of every file under View Properties.

Please let me know the inputs on the same to achieve.

SSO in SharePoint 2013 with ServiceNow

Hi All

We have an external ServiceNow application which  is using the separate authentication database stored on the Cloud.

This application has to be in SSO with a SharePoint 2013 application - which has to authenticate against Active Directory.

I need suggestions on how to implement the authentication in SP 2013 when there is multiple authentication providers (custom DB and Active directory)  and there is no synchronization between them.
