On the top-right hand side, I am clicking on Edit Page option for All Items List Page, it's not working.
Can someone suggest why is it happening this way? Do I need to activate any feature or something else is wrong?

Access Services 2013 - Moving app between farms issue

I am running into an error moving an Access app between 2 farms (Dev & Prod).  I am able to restore from Prod to Dev but not Dev to Prod.  I am able to create new Access apps fine in both environments.

The ULS logs show some errors on the server running Access Services.

Cannot add 1st MySite task from code. MySite task list does not appear to exist until visiting MySite.

We have a coded solution where we've created a webpart that shows tasks assigned to the user from three sources:
1. Exchange server
2. MySite's tasks list
3. All SharePoint sites in the collection

Upon first visit to this page this web part is blank and simply says 'Add a task'.  If the user HAS a MySite already set up, but HAS NOT visited that MySite and created a task, our code cannot add the task.  It seems that the MySite tasks list does not exist until the first time a user has visited their MySite page.

Is this correct?

How can this tasks list be forced to be created when the MySite is created so our webpart can allow the creation of a task from our code?

SHarepoint Access Control

hi,

We have a Training Management System developed with SharePoint 2013. I just want some employee can't see some module or feature. They be able to see only those module into which i will give access permission.

I already set access permission. But Problem is the person who has no access permission to a particular module, he/she can see see that module without content. But i want he/she never be able to see that module.

How can i control this security access permission.

I followed the step to give access permission:

  1. Break inheritance from the parent.
  2. Remove groups or users you don’t want.
  3. Grant access to groups or individuals.

Please give me a solution.

Kind Regards

Is it possible to prevent SP13 from creating default.aspx pages in every single subsite, because these pages don't exist on my current websites in SP07/SP10?

$

I currently end up with a problem when migrating to SP13.
I am currently migrating websites from SP07/SP10 to SP13.

Issue:
The problems is when migrating to SP13, SP13 create default.aspx pages in every single subsite,
which can't be deleted unless you assign a different page from parent of child directory.

Questions:
1. Is it possible to prevent SP13 from creating default.aspx pages in every single subsite, because these pages don't exist on my current websites in SP07/SP10. I would like to migrate as is. These default.aspx pages are actually empty pages, except they're containing a page layout and some links. Please note that the amount of webpages will double after migration due to these default.aspx pages.

2. What options do I have here and how does this impact SEO?

Sofar I thought about 2 options I have:

1. Assigning different parent/child pages in every single subsite where SP13 creates default.aspx pages per subsites in order to finally delete default.aspx per subsite.

2. Keeping default.aspx pages in every single subsite and put a 301 redirect to the appropriate destination. (Might be tricky for visitors), unless you prevent search engines from indexing these pages using robots.txt but that might be a big job for SEO.

Hope to hear other technical options I might have and please provide me the feedback on impact on SEO.

Hope to year from you soon!

Webmaster PR

Sharepoint migration from 2010 to 2013, problems with login.

Hi

I have a SharePoint 2010, that I want to upgrade to SharePoint 2013.

I have done this.

But after the upgrade, I can’t login to SharePoint portal. Admin still works.

When I try to login to the portal, it will ask me for username / Password 3. Times.

In the event log I have this (3 times) An account failed to log on.

And I got this from my sharepoint logs:

Claims Windows Sign-In: Sending 401 for request 'http://intranet/' because the user is not authenticated and resource requires authentication.          19f7129d-ab01-5061-cac2-f1555d4c2231

I know my username and password is correct.

Before I restore the SharePoint 2010 database, I could logon and was getting an empty SharePoint site.

Could anyone help me in the right direction?

SharePoint 2013 randomly get ERR_CONNECTION_RESET or ERR_SOCKET_NOT_CONNECTED on some .CSS/.JS files

Hello,

I use sharepoint 2013 and I have a strange problem. I get random ERR_SOCKET_NOT_CONNECTEDor ERR_CONNECTION_RESET error on certain .css or .js files (in Google Chrome; in Internet Explorer I get Aborted). Most times, I get errors  on .css files.

.css files are added in masterpage like this (in <head>):

<asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="PlaceHolderAdditionalPageHead" runat="server" /><SharePoint:DelegateControl runat="server" ControlId="AdditionalPageHead" AllowMultipleControls="true" /><SharePoint:CssRegistration Name="Themable/corev15.css" runat="server" /><SharePoint:CssRegistration name="/_catalogs/masterpage/ShareBoot/css/bootstrap.min.css" After="corev15.css" runat="server" /><SharePoint:CssRegistration name="/_catalogs/masterpage/ShareBoot/css/telekomicon.css" After="corev15.css" runat="server" /><SharePoint:CssRegistration name="/_catalogs/masterpage/ShareBoot/css/ShareBoot.css" After="corev15.css" runat="server" /><SharePoint:CssRegistration name="/_catalogs/masterpage/ShareBoot/css/ShareBoot.custom.css" After="corev15.css" runat="server" />

I also often receive the error "The server unexpectedly closed the connection" in SharePoint Designer 2013.

The problem does not occur constantly, but once in a while, so I can not always reproduce. I do not know if there is a networking  or cache problem or something else, but I'm not the only user who has these problems.

If you need other details,  please let me know.

You can help me with any suggestions. Thank you!

Cannot access the local farm -Error while running PowerShell Script on Remote Server in SP 2013

I am trying to run a SP PowerShell script remotely from my SP 2013 dev server. The target server is also a SP 2013 server with same configuration. I am able to get the folders, items, accessing the file system after enabling Enter-PSSession command. But when I try to connect the site in the remote server am getting the below error.

[remoteserver.mydms.prodcompany.com]: PS C:\Users\muser1\Documents> $msite=Get-SPSite"http://mydms.prod.com/sites/gng"

Get-SPSite : Cannot access the local farm. Verify that the local farm is properly configured, currently available, and that you have the appropriate permissions to access the database before trying again. At line:1 char:8 + $msite=Get-SPSite "http://mydms.prod.com/sites/gng"

Am stuck at this, why I am getting cannot access local farm?

I am running the SP script with the same credential which has full access to the remote server machine.

Ref:

http://blogs.msdn.com/b/varun_malhotra/archive/2010/06/10/configure-power-shell-for-remote-use-of-sp-2010.aspx

It has Full Access to the content db. I went to the security folder in the SSMS console on the sql server box and given the permissions. It has dbcreator, diskadmin, processadmin, public, securityadmin, serveradmin, setupadmin, sys‌admin permissions –

missing list forms

We migrated our intranet from SP2007 to SP2013.  We are finding instances in which the three list forms (Edit, Display, New) did not migrate over.  As a result, of course, the list is not very functional.  Is there a way to recreate these forms?

There are no mistakes; every result tells you something of value about what you are trying to accomplish.

Secure Service Store will not create

$

Greetings - I am working on getting sharepoint set up and I ran into an issue that has me puzzled.

When I attempt to set up the Secure Service Store  I get a spinning wheel with the "This Should not take long" message.  It just sits there spinning away (for 40 minutes before I stopped it).  There are no errors I can find in the event log nor are there any errors I can see in the SharePoint error log).  I literally get the spinning wheel of death.

Now, I know this is likely a permissions issue - the users and software were set up and installed respectively prior to my working on this install.

I also know that the process is not getting to the point of setting up the secure store database in sql server.  I do not see it being created while the process is running.

I do know that there are still some issues as I can get an "object set with not reference" error when I select "Set Up Managed Accounts" from central admin.

Should I punt on this installation and start over?  or is this an easy fix?  any guidance would be appreciated.

Hello Community

Using WS2012 and Sharepoint 2013 Server when running
dcomcnfg "My Computer" has a Red Arrow so in this situation
How do you enable inbound network connections to MSDTC?

Note: There is no "Distributed Transaction Coordinator"
in "Services" to turn on however there is a folder
under My Computer with the Red Arrow but that
      folder displays a message stating:
"there are no items to show in this view".
However, if you right click the My Computer with
the arrows then Properties a dialog box pops up
with a tab that says MSDTC and "Use local coordinator" is checked.

A named instance is running, what do you do?

Very Very slow performance of Sharepoint2013

$

Hello all,

I know theres a lot of posts talking about it but i realy need some help since iam new with sharepoint 2013 and i was given the task to solve a very very slow sharepoint server.

So, i have a 12GB machine (only 10GB being consumed) that hosts the sharepoint 2013 server and all its components and another machine for SQL Server.

My problem its related with an application that takes about 1min to present any page you select. But if i navigate through central administrator console it is responsive what point me for a probem in that specific application (am i right?)

I've already ready some posts and i know the first thing to do its to put distributed cache on another server. Although i don't know if it will be enough. (Btw can i stop it for 1h or so to see if problem is related with it ans start it after?)

Another thing most people points its the Crawl. This server is configured for continuous crawling.. (how can i know if this is realy the best option?)

At the other end i have the SQL Server. I know sharepoint depends a lot on the good performance of the Sql server but to be honest it seems quit responsive. Querying the database i have a fast output. Here i still need to figure if its suffering about locks, what the wait time, etc...

So basically i would like your opinion on what is the best approach to quickly identify the problem and to be sure that any alterations i make will make some big difference  on the user experience.

Arestas

Hi,

I completed a new installation and I have just one Web Application and I can open it on http://pcname:80 and http://pcname:2168 (for central administration).

When try to open http://pcname:80 (from sp server) after loading I received the error "401 Unauthorized".

I found the following guide https://support.microsoft.com/en-en/kb/896861 but both solutions didn't work.. same error. I tried to add route on hosts (127.0.0.1 pcname) ..
Authentication is managed through windows authentication with kerberos.
[edit]: I forgot to say that my user is a machine administrator, and I insert also a farm admin. If I'm in right sp installation has been done as stand-alone.

I need to open it from sp server because it's just a development machine, but I don't know how to solve this isseu :-/

Please may you help me?

thanks a lot

Users are prompted for their credentials in Kerberos Authentication Enabled on SP 2013 on-premises Farm

am using a SharePoint 2013 on premise farm. Facing an issue, wherein the users are prompted for their credentials every time they access cross site collection resources from a Mobile device(IOS and Blackberry).  For example on the News Page of the Intranet, the users are prompted for credentials while accessing images from News site collection.

I already have Kerberos enabled in our SharePoint farm.

Very slow page approval workflow

$

We have a publishing site collection that uses the built-in page approval workflow to publish pages. When an approver tries to approve a pending task, it takes about 30 seconds before the approval form actually loads. The specific page is /_layouts/15/WrkTaskIP.aspx.

In a new site collection in the same farm, the issue is the same. In a publishing site collection in a different farm, the issue does not exist. The same page approval workflow form appears in under 1 second.

The slow farm has SP1 plus Oct 2014 CU. The quick farm only has SP1. I have tried looking through all the more recent CUs but cannot find any related fixes. I could use trial and error to install various CUs to fix the problem but am also worried about other issues this may introduce.

Here are some of the errors I see in my ULS logs when a workflow approval form is loading. not sure if they are all relevant:

  • "Failed to get SPGroupName from GroupID. Error Message: Group cannot be found."
  • "user does not exist or is not unique"
  • "PermissionMask check failed. asking for 0x00000005, have 0x2000011001" (and other similar)

Has anyone experienced this? Any suggestions on resolving? Perhaps you know of a specific CU that resolves this issue, or some other way to fix this.

Thanks,

Lance
