Missing Register-SPWorkflowService cmdlet

I want to create a development environment to try-out SharePoint 2013 Workflows.  I have a development SharePoint 2013 Farm (on a single server) and have installed Workflow Manager using the instructions given on MSDN athttp://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj193478(v=azure.10).aspx.

I am now trying to link Workflow Manager and SharePoint using the Register-SPWorkflowService cmdlet.  My problem is that PowerShell returns the following error:

Register-SPWorkflowService : The term 'Register-SPWorkflowService' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function,
script file, or operable program. Check the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is
correct and try again.

+ Register-SPWorkflowService
+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    + CategoryInfo          : ObjectNotFound: (Register-SPWorkflowService:String) [], CommandNotFoundException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : CommandNotFoundException

I have seen other people reporting similar issues - in these cases the problem appears to be either that the SharePoint cmdlets (in Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell.dll) were not loaded or that the SharePoint 2013 Management Shell was not started in Administrator mode.  I believe that I have addressed both of these causes - I can use other SharePoint PowerShell cmdlets, such as Get-SPWeb, without any problems.

Inspecting the Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell.dll assembly on my server, I can see classes for other cmdlets (e.g. SPCmdletGetWeb) but cannot see a class named SPCmdletRegisterWorkflowService or similar.

Is it possible that I have an out-of-date version of the Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell.dll assembly?  If so, how can I update it?

WSP in debug=true status in webapplication running on production

Hi

We have a web application running on production sever in our organization, nearly 34 .WSPs are deployed and unfortunately all with the debug=true status.

Recently, we are facing a problem of 100% CPU usage and the users are getting a message of server busy every minute, as CPU is not able to process the requests in the queue faster.

Please clarify if this problem is due to our deployed wsps (in debug mode), if yes then how to solve it.

Thanks

Can you install Workflow Manager 1.0 on Central Admin App Server Machine in 3-tier SharePoint Farm?

Hi,

I have just realised when looking at doing a Workflow that 2013 Workflows not available (you need to install Workflow Manager Farm). I understand why from a tenant installation perspective, but we are on-premise.

Can someone tell me if I can install Workflow Manager 1.0 (seen you have to now install WM 1.0 Refresh version) on the Central Admin App Server Machine in a 3 tier SharePoint farm. 3 WFE, 4 APP Servers, 1 DB Server and 1 DB Analysis Services Server.

I did test on a test farm 1WFE, 1 APP Server (with CA) and 1 Database Server. We are getting issues with the WFE Server having issues booting up or losing connection - possibly faulty network card. This may in no way be related to the install, but just in case.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

John.

Encrypting traffic between Sharepoint and SQL

$

We have a 2013 Environment used by internal and external users. External traffic (external users accessing the extranet site) is encrypted using SSL certs. Internal traffic (internal users to the intranet site) is not encrypted which is fine. We are being asked by some auditors to encrypt traffic between SharePoint (WFE and APP servers) to SQL backend. What options do we have and how involved each one is? On SQL backend we know we can enforce encryption.

Hi All,

I have upgraded a SharePoint 2010 site to SharePoint 2013. I have migrated the user to SharePoint 2013. The site uses Windows Authentication and I am able to login with my credentials and other dummy credentials. I am using the Active Directory users. SO to say I am able to login to the site with windows credentials.

Now I have extended the site to use forms authentication. I am not able to login to the Forms Authentication site which is in different zone with my Active directory credentials. What wrong I am doing here?

Appreciate your response and feedback.

Thanks

I'm trying to setup Project 2013 on SharePoint 2013 and am at the point where you create a Project web app instance. I'm on step 3 on this page.

http://alinimer.com/2013/02/28/install-configure-and-deploy-project-server-2013-part-4/

I'm getting an error saying "Provisioning Failed - see the Application event Log." In the event log it says

Failed to provision site PWA with error: Microsoft.Office.Project.Server.Administration.ProvisionException: Failed to provision database.
Database provisioning failed. The database ProjectWebApp contains a non project schema and cannot be used. ---> Microsoft.Office.Project.Server.Administration.ProvisionException: Database provisioning failed. The database ProjectWebApp contains a non project schema and cannot be used.

I'm new to Project Server and fairly new to SharePoint so is this something that's easy to fix? The database was created new for Project.

Error 403 when accessing workflow manager page after install

$

Hey,

I'm in the process of setting up a new workflow manager farm for my SP2013 environment.

At the moment I'm setting up the stage WFM farm which consists of only one dedicated server (meaning not running on a SP server). My live WFM farm will be made of 3 servers.

I've followed Harbar's guide located here: http://www.harbar.net/articles/wfm2.aspx, and all was successfull until I tried to access the workflow page onhttps://myserver.domain.com:12290 and got a 403.

I've checked that the Workflow Manager Backend, Windows Fabric Host Service, Service Bus Gateway and Service Bus Broker services are running.

Get-WFFarmStatus is also showing me everything running. In IIS, app pool and site are started.

I've tried ti access https://myserver.domain.com:12290 from the WFM machine, from a SP server and from my own laptop, same issue, I always get a 403.

Would you know how to troubleshoot this?

Thanks in advance and have a nice day

Hi,

Following problem:

  • Domain A contains old accounts
  • Domain B contains new accounts with sid-history of old accounts
  • Between these server is a two way trust

I need to setup the people-picker to show only accounts from Domain A (old accounts), not the new ones and i cannot disable accounts on Domain B.

But i only get accounts from Domain B.

Already tried:

I have tried to block the account from reading the OU in Domain B -> no success. (Description)

I have entered to use explictly Domain A in the PeoplePickerSettings

Setup:

2x SP 2013 (CU February 2015)

1x SQL-Server 2014

Are there any other settings to solve this problem ?

Who can add users to the Term Store Administrators field in the termstoremanager.aspx

In the Term Store management tool (_layouts/15/termstoremanager.aspx) what permissions does a user need to have to be able to add/change/remove accounts and groups listed in the Term Store Administrators field.

I am guessing that they need to be Administrators of the Managed Metadata Service Application?

I ask because I have a user who is Admin of the MM Service App and is listed in the Term Store Admin field but cannot add or remove users in the Term Store Admins field in the Term Store management tool

Thanks

Cannot create calculated column

$

Hi, I have a sharepoint 2013 foundation farm running on sql server 2012 r2

I have recently migrated from the previous version.

Now I'm not able to create calculated columns anymore. This happens only in a subsite of a site collection. In the others subsites of the same site collection I'm able to create this kind of columns.

When I choose the type "calculated! sharepoint throws a "sorry something went wrong" pages, and i'm not able to create the field.

This prevents me also from using saved templates with calculated columns inside, apparently.

I've tried to create the calculated field with sharepoint designer. In this case I'm able to created the field, but I cannot complete the creation because the designer cannot retrieve the fields that i should use in the calculation!

this is the log:

Hi,

For a site created using https-port 443 in sharepoint 2013,and when i call the site  it prompts for credentials twice, found out this was due the IIS application pool being created in port 80 by default(1st prompt) and then for the https(2nd prompt).

So is there any way to set the default port of application pool to 443 itself for https sites.

Hi could somebody possibly help with a licensing question on Azure SharePoint 2013 Farm, if you select an SharePoint Farm on Azure does the operating costs of the virtual machine include licencing of SharePoint? it is really confusing as in some places it appears that we do need to buy a license and in others it doesn't.

Thanks

Tenant Admin User Properties Your search encountered an error

Hi. I've set up sites in a multi-tenant environment. When opening a tenant admin site and clicking in Manage User Properties I'm getting this error:

Your search encountered an error. If the problem persists, contact the portal site administrator.

The same applies to Manage Organization Properties. User profiles are working normally.

All UP services are running normally, including the FIM services.
