2013 Host Header Site Collection Site Content Add Apps Issue

$

I have a standard path based site as the default on my port 80 web app. I have then created a host header site collection on the web app. All seems to be working except the add an app feature. When I click add an app to try to add a basic SharePoint library , it just shows loading but doesn't go anywhere. Is there something I need to do specifically for a host header site collection to get this to work? It works from the default web. Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Guidance to configure Trusted Identity Provider using Host Named Site Collections

Consider only having a single Web Application which contains multiple tenants with different urls.

Now configure a Trusted Identity Provider for that web application, will this require the ProviderRealms be configured for each tenants' url address, or simply just not supported?

Install WSS 2013 Foundation on a Plesk Server (windows)

I'm trying to install WSS Foundation 2013 along side Plesk 10 on a Windows 2008 r2 Box. The physical installation (in single server mode) installed ok. It took over the default port 80. So my usual DotNetNuke site was offline.

I changed the default SharePoint binding to port 81 and CA to port 8000 - recycled the web server. SharePoint loaded on port 81, as did CA. However my existing site on port 80 (DNN / Plesk) kept on giving me a 503 error. After looking at the application pools, I noticed that the pools required for running the DNN site had been shut down. So naturally, restarted then, tried to connect to the site on port 80. Again the pools were shut down.

So my question is: Has any body got Plesk and Sharepoint 2013 running on the same window server?

Sorry, you don't have access to this page, error when accessing site root, no default aspx redirect

So I have migrated my sp2010 farm to 2013, everything looks and works fine, expect one weird issue I was hoping someone else might have had the misfortune of stumbling upon.

when accessing my site URL intranet.pp I get a Sorry you don't have access to this site error, I'm an admin, however intranet.pp/default.aspx works no problems, its happening on all of my sites, really strange.

Web.configs are set to use forms auth which I think is correct for a claims sharepoint app.

Locked out after installing Work Management Service

Hi,

We have a brand new SharePoint 2013 installation. We have 2 web applications, onw for our MySite host and one for the actual intranet. We noticed we had problems with our tasks and figured out we needed to install a Work Management Service. When doing so, we got locked out completely from our intranet site which is based on a Publishing Site.

No matter what rights we have on the site (site collection admin, site owner, etc), SharePoint tells us we do not have access.

We are sure the issue is with service as we restored all of our databases and everything came back to normal until we reinstalled the Work Management Service.

SharePoint Temp File Location/Web Part Issue

I was doing some cleanup of user profiles on our SharePoint server and noticed several folders under C:\Users named TEMP.<DOMAIN>.XXX (starting at 001 and going to about 020). I tried deleting these (they're temp directories right?) and they weren't all successfully deleted so I left them. The next day I come in and am getting the following error on one of my web apps:

Web Part Error: One of the properties of the Web Part has an incorrect format. Microsoft SharePoint Foundationcannot deserialize the Web Part. Check the format of the properties and try again.

I figured the person in charge had messed something up so I attempted to connect to the site with SPD to check things out, but then got the following error:

soap:ServerServer was unable to process request. ---> Could not find a part of the path'C:\Users\TEMP.<DOMAIN>.010\AppData\Local\Temp\-jnbdhnf.tmp'

I was able to restore the temp folder in that directory and the problem was resolved (web part error went away and I was able to connect to the site with SPD).

The problem is, another web app (mysites) also produces the web part error and a different folder name under C:\Users is specified when trying to connect with SPD.

My question is, why is SharePoint using this area for "temporary" files? I understand something must've been configured incorrectly, but my main goal is to get the farm working correctly (I'm guessing there are other sites that are having issues which I haven't heard about yet).

Since I can't restore the rest of the files that I deleted, what should I do to resolve these errors?

Sharepoint 2013 Installation failure on Server 2012

At the bottom of this post is the Installation log. It seems to be choking on the configuration of the Application server / web server role.  Pre other posts I read here I did install them manually first, installed al the updates, and rebooted.  Any suggestions or recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Issues setting up S2S trust between Exchange and SharePoint 2013

I have Exchange 2013 and SharePoint 2013 installed and I'm trying to setup trusts between them both.

I've got the trust successfully created on the Exchange side using:

cd c:\'Program Files'\Microsoft\'Exchange Server'\V15\Scripts
.\Configure-EnterprisePartnerApplication.ps1 -AuthMetadataUrl https://<HostName>/_layouts/15/metadata/json/1 -ApplicationType SharePoint

On the SharePoint side though, when I try to run:

New-SPTrustedSecurityTokenIssuer -Name Exchange -MetadataEndPoint https://<Exchange Server Name or FQDN>/autodiscover/metadata/json/1

I get this:

New-SPTrustedSecurityTokenIssuer : Exception of type
'System.ArgumentException' was thrown.
Parameter name: newObj
At line:1 char:1
+ New-SPTrustedSecurityTokenIssuer -Name "Exchange" -MetadataEndPoint

   SPCmdletNewTrustedSecurityTokenIssuer) [New-SPTrustedSecurityTokenIssuer],
   ArgumentException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell.SPCmdletNewTrust
   edSecurityTokenIssuer

ULS logs and Event logs give me nothing.

Side note: There are differences in the TechNet documentation between Exchange and SharePoint documentation. Exchange lists the autodiscover URL correctly at: https://<Exchange Server Name or FQDN>/autodiscover/metadata/json/1 and SharePoint lists it incorrectly at: https://<HostName>/metadata/json/1

Can not save changes to edited pages. Problem seems to be global, affecting many or all site collections.

When clicking on Save and Close an error appears that says :

Trying to track the correlation ID yields many entries.

One of the initial entries says Leaked record detected with address 000000000037BC248, name (unknown), and thread refcount 1.

Next, there are many entries for AddRef Stack (1) for record with address 000000000037BC248: owssvr.dll: (unresolved symbol, module offset=...

Need to get the system working again as soon as possible.

I am not a developer and there is no custom code involved in the farm. Most of the solutions I have seen online lead to problems in that area.

Any help solving this issue will be greatly appreciated!

When clicking on Dashboard Designer within a BI center, I receive a 404 error.

I've installed Sharepoint 2013 Server on Server 2012.  I created a web application, site collection, performancepoint service app and proxy, enabled the features on the collection and site.  I can navigate to dashboard designer with the direct url /_layouts/15/ppsma/1033/designer.application, but then I receive a 404 error when attempting to access the site.

Microsoft.Practices.SharePoint.Common for SharePoint 2013?

$

Hello!

I'm trying to convert a SharePoint 2010 project to Visual Studio 2012 and SharePoint 2013. The project is referencing Microsoft.Practices.SharePoint.Common.dll which is made for  2.0 runtime version.

Is there or will there be a version for the v4.0 runtime version which works with SharePoint 2013?

Information about The SharePoint Guidance Library for SharePoint 2010 can be found here
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff798385.aspx

Thank you.

Distributed Cache slowing down all my farm?

$

Hi everybody,

I'm having performance issues with the distributed cache service.

Here is my farm

WFE1&2 6Gb RAM, 4vCPU - each running web role and distributed cache role

App1 - 4GB, 4vCPU - UPS, Search, Metadata, WAS

CA - 4GB, 2vCPU - CA, search admin, smtp for sharepoint

SQL - 7GB, 4vCPU

All running WS2012 (SQL has a core installation), SQL2012

1WebApp, 40 sites collections splitted into 4 content databases, not a huge amount of data (200MB) (we've haven't gone to production yet)

The problem i have is when distributed cache (2500MB cache set) is running, every page request takes more than 6 secs.

When I turn it off (of course new social features don't work anymore when i do that), pages take less than 1 sec.

I've been trying to diagnostic this issue unsuccessfully, this is why i'm asking your help (as this service is pretty new).

I have no custom development deployed, and I already followed some best practices (BLOB caching, object caching, SQL MDOP, SQL collation, logs levels, logs on other disk...) so I think this issue is clearly related to this new service. (also we are working on this project for a while and it used to be on 2010, and very performant and fast)

Any idea?

Thanks for your help!

Can I install SP 2013 in a laptop for dev purpose

Im thinking to buy a new laptop this holiday season ; major intention is to install SP 2013 and get familiar with the product.

Could you please sugggest the major laptop configuration data I should look at while finalizing one?

Also please share the available laptops (if any) I can choose ?

Next thing is the Windows OS needed in it; do we really need Win Server?

Is there any other way to do it (in WIn 7 / 8) by installing VMware etc.

Thanks a lot in advance...

Setup Windows Azure Workflow - Add-WFHost error "WF_Management/WFTOPIC" and token provider service

$

Hi,

i want to install the new windows azure workflow manager and service bus on my sharepoint 2013 server.

All works fine in setup. I got the Powershell-Script from the wizard and configured it to meet my requierments.
I start it and get to the last point "add-wfhost".
Here i got following error:

VERBOSE: [12.12.2012 09:30:13]: Validating input and configuration parameters.
VERBOSE: [12.12.2012 09:30:14]: Installing auto-generated certificate.

VERBOSE: [12.12.2012 09:30:16]: Workflow Manager configuration starting.
VERBOSE: [12.12.2012 09:30:19]: Configuring Workflow Manager runtime settings.
Add-WFHost : Could not successfully create management Service Bus entity 'WF_Management/WFTOPIC' with multiple retries within a timespan of 00:02:05.7914488.. The exception of the last retry is: The
token provider service was not avaliable when obtaining a token for 'https://myServer.sps2013.local:9355/WorkflowDefaultNamespace/$STS/Windows/'..
At C:\Users\wawsrv\Documents\workflowconfiguration.ps1:42 char:1+ Add-WFHost -WFFarmDBConnectionString 'Data Source=myServer.sps2013.local;Initia ...+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ CategoryInfo : OperationStopped: (:) [Add-WFHost], TimeoutException+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : WFRuntimeSettingFailed,Microsoft.Workflow.Deployment.Commands.AddWFHost

I installed it on a sharepoint 2013 box server (AD, DNS, SQL and SP on one maschin).
I know this is not supported, but it should work. Im loged in as the service account for the workflow. I've granted the domain admin rights and sql sysadmin /dbowner rights.

Now my answer is:

It is not the "normal" error with the wf_management/WFTOPIC. What is this token provider service and why he tries the port 9355. I dont use ssl, so how can i change the request url or how do i have to set it up correct?

Thx alot on this!

Access Denied when using Product Catalog

Hello all. As the title suggests, I'm having weird issues when consuming the product catalog. I have 2 site collections. One that has a product catalog. The other is a publishing site that connects to that product catalog. When I'm logged in as administrator, everything works perfectly of course. But users with read only privileges get access denied when they click the managed navigation. The weird thing is that if I grant the user Contribute permissions, everything works fine. All pages are checked-in and published.

Here are the steps I took. Let me know if I'm missing something:

On the catalog site:

  1. I modified the term set group to allow site collections to consume it
  2. I added the terms I needed
  3. I added items to the product catalog with no photos
  4. I approved all of those items
  5. I granted Everyone read permissions on the catalog site
  6. I went into the catalog settings and published as a catalog
  7. I enabled anonymous access on the catalog
  8. Ran a full crawl

On the portal site:

  1. I granted Everyone read permissions
  2. I connected to the catalog
  3. Checked-in and published the catalog reuse pages
  4. Ran another full crawl (just in case :) )
  5. Log in as administrator -> it's all good
  6. Log in as a user with read permissions -> access denied when I click navigation (which should show catalog items)
  7. Grant that same user Contribute permissions
  8. Log in as the same user -> it's all good

I have to be missing something...or this is a pretty bad bug. I can't give all my users contribute permissions. Thanks in advance for help!
