I have 3 major site collections where 250 sites are housed inside of it. For example:
Recently i followed a site listed below:using follow funcationality provided in new sp2013 env. I can see the url listed as below in "Sites I'm following" in My Sites https://departments.internal.contoso.com/site/Area37 After couple of days i came back to my Sites and clicked that same url, it now brings me to: https://projects.internal.contoso.com/site/Area37 and gives http 404 not found error because that site doesnt exist. So i unfollowed the site and refollowed again, it got fixed. So this morning again i went to access such other site i experinced same behavior, url got changed. Can anyone point me to why this is happening. |

OneDrive for Business iPad App with on-premise SharePoint 2013
I don't know if this has more to do with OneDrive for Business or SharePoint 2013 itself.
Basically we are trying to log into OneDrive for Business on the iPad app but it says "Sorry, this app doesn't support this type of authentication"
We are using Claims Based Authentication with our On-premise SharePoint 2013 environment, which according to this table is a supported method: h**p://office.microsoft.com/en-us/office365-sharepoint-online-enterprise-help/use-the-onedrive-for-business-app-on-an-iphone-or-ipad-HA104005688.aspx#_Supported__authentication
We have tried different combinations of the username and url. Windows username, DOMAIN\username, email address, username@domain, etc. nothing seems to work.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Cannot access SharePoint 2013 publishing site
HI,
I set up a SharePoint 2013 and everything seemed to work fine (setup was basically done using the codeplex autoinstaller script).
But now I detected, that I have an issue with the publishing feature. Regardless of whether I activate this feature on an existing site collection or whether I create a new site collection with the Publishing Portal template, I cannot access the site. Even not with the site collection administrator account.
I tried to assign the Central-Admin app-pool to the website (found this hint several times), but it doesn't solve the issue.
In the ULS logs, I found the following:

User Profile Synchronization Service hangs on 'starting'
Hi,
I'm having this issue in one of my client Production server and have been gone through a lot of technet threads and other blogs/articles but none is working including from Spencer Harbar (the Rational article, the common issue article and first look sp 2013 active directory import) and http://myspexp.com/2011/04/28/user-profile-synchronization-servicehangs-on-starting-i-fixed-it/.
Hope that someone could shed some lights that could help me out. Just a brief description on what happen,
Last Monday, I had SP timer service kept restarting for n-th times and I manage to resolve it in the timer config file (the config had " replaced by ?, which I found it weird). However, due to that, the user profile breaks, and the status of the services hangs on stopping. I tried to restart but failed, so I had delete the user profile service application and recreate it back. It had few hiccups i.e. :
If create User Profile Service App without turning on User Profile Service first
- Get this error in ULS Log
"There are no instances of the User Profile Service started on any server in this farm. Ensure that at least one instance is started on an application server in the farm using the Services on Server page in Central Administration."
- But once started no issue
- Except when try to start the User Profile Sync Service, it stuck at starting like forever
If create User Profile Service App with turn on User Profile Service started
- Get this error in ULS Log about 15 times
PartitionPropertiesCache.RefreshPartitionProperties: Encountered error: System.InvalidOperationException: Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object.

If anyone have any similar cases that have been resolved or ideas to resolve, please do let me know. I'm kind of in bind right now. Thanks in advance

After install SP1 for lang pack, fail to update because SP cannot detect it
My SP2013 farm is using 1WEB- 1APP- 1DB topology. The farm have Traditional Chinese Lang pack installed. After upgrade SP2013 to SP1, I would like to install SP1 for lang pack.
During installation on web server, I accidently click on the cancel button so installation was terminated. I run the installer again and this time everything goes smooth. "Install completed" message was given.
After then I install the same pack to APP server and completed.
However, when I run the Product configuration wizard it said the web server missed SP1 for lang pack! When I try to run the install again it said "There is no product affacted by this package on this system"
What can I do? Thank you!

SharePoint Administrator Account Couldn't login on just created new Web Application
Hi There,
I just created a new web application then create a site collection. When I tried to access the new sitehttp://NewWebapplication/SitePages/Home.aspx, the system popup login request, I entered SharePoint Administrator credential but it denied the access. Any ideal what I did wrong.

sharepoint 2013 site not display correctly
I set up a sharepoint 2013 site named test:
IIS setting: 80 port, ip *
and set the AAM as below:
default: http://computername
internet: http://ip
it is ok on the local organization, when oversea company access this site via switch ip twice, it only display "home" not "Test", and the url is not same:
http:/ip/test/_layouts/15/start.aspx#/sitepages/home.aspx (only display "home", no other content)

Upload media to a separate content database based on content type
Hi there,
I'm working a scenario: there are two Site Collections, one for normal data(Normal Content database) and one planned for Media type data only such as image, video etc. (Media content database). In the document library, there are two content types: Document and Media. If it is Media, the data will save to Media content database. Anyone has any idea to achieve this??

Multi-language is activated, , language pack are on the server.

Limit access in a list
We have a list in sharepoint. I was able to setup a test user using the permissions with in system settings that makes it so that can't create or edit items nor can they create or edit views. Would also like to limit this user from viewing an item in the list. We just want them to be able see the data presented in the view of the list. When I select and item and view it, then one can see all the data of the item. This is what I want to limit, so they can just view the list and not view an item.
How can I do this?

Import List Items with Managed Metadata Field from CSV File

I try to import list items from a CSV File. Most of the fields are populating correctly except the Managed Metadata Field. I found multiple examples on how to set Managed Metadata Fields with Powersehll, but unfortunately I couldnt get it running.
The CSV File holds values for the Metadata Column, this value should be checked against the Metadata in the Termstore. If this Term is existent, then it should set the fields value, if it is not existant then it should add the term from the CSV File to the Term Set in the Term Store. Can anybody give me a tip on how to do this? This is what I have, where Line 4 holds the Metadata:

Impact of generating a new key for Secure Store Application
I inherited my development environment from a predecessor, who did not document the secure store pass phrase anywhere. There are a couple of projects doing development on the system that cannot be impacted, but I need to get Project Server running on the system, and I cannot get the secure store to accept the credentials I set for the target application. I have recreated the target application several times, but nothing works.

The feature: "Power View" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services.
I've looked through all of the articles related to this an they're not of any help. I have a development and a production environment; both are exhibiting the same exact issues. Both environments are the same:
SharePoint 2013 Enterprise Edition, SP1
SQL Server 2012 R2 SP1
BI has a separate web application. So far I have PowerPivot working and have been able to create an SSRS Service Application after following this guide:

I have followed each of those steps yet no matter what I try I still get the "The feature: "Power View" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services." Per troubleshooting materials I have attempted to uninstall Reporting Services SharePoint add-ins and use the version provided by MS to no avail.
The only ULS Log entry I see backs up the above error:

User Profile Synchronization - LDAP Service Unavailable
I am trying to setup User Profile Synchronization Service. While creating "New Connection" I am getting the error "The LDAP server is unavailable". I think the reason is that my sharepoint farm server is not configured properly for "Active Directory Domain".
I noticed that the Active Directory Domain Services has not been running. I tried to run the "Active Directory Domain Services Installation Wizard (dcpromo.exe), but it tells me that the port 88 is being used by another service.
My question:
1) First thing, please let me know if I am going in the right path to set up User Profile Synschronization.
2) If yes, should I free (or can I use another the port 88 for Active Directory). How do I change the port ?

Error - Creating Data Alert SSRS SharePoint
I am getting the below error when I try to create a new data alert on a SSRS report which is integrated with SharePoint 2013. The database is SQL Server 2012.
When I go to the link given in the error window, I see the below statement.

FIM EVENT ID 3 when starting User Profile Synchronization service
I am having issues getting the USP Sync Service to start correctly in our 2013 Farm.
We are using a named instance for this install and from what I have read, it looks like that is the issue.
In the ULS I find this error "ERROR ILMPostSetupConfiguration: ILM Configuration: Validating installation of SQL Service FAILED ."

The server was set up with a sql alias and we also added an alias for the server itself. Based on the below links, I did verify that the SQLInstance is empty in the registry.
I am at a loss on what to try next to get this working. As a side note, I just noticed the dev farm we have (which I didn't set up) does not have the UPS configured. I have seen references that state the only FIM 2010 SP1 works with SharePoint 2013 and am currently investigating updating the version on our server to SP1.
