My Site Cleanup Job Sends Invalid URL Link to Managers

$

0

The My Site Cleanup Job sends a default email to managers 14 days prior to an employee's My Site deletion by default. This email includes a link to the departing employee's My Site, where the respective manager who receives the email is made secondary site collection administrator.

The link embedded in the email doesn't work. This link is of the format: http://<root url>/my/personal/username. Upon clicking on it, the manager(s) see the 'Something Went Wrong' message page.

Note that the http://<root url>/my/personal/username/default.aspx link works for that very same manager.

Is this a bug? I know we cannot edit the email message from the cleanup job, but it is sending an invalid URL for a first time login user - we use Windows Auth and Claims.

Thanks.

Title not found issue with wave in sharepoint 2013 Sites

I recently migrated SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013.

I have a compliance that has to be fulfilled for the site.

I use wave plugin in Firefox to check if there are any accessibility errors.

when i run wave it says title not found or not descriptive enough.

But when i look in the source i can see title tag and the title of the page.

Wave gives me this error in every page.

Is there any way we can overcome this.

I am still running in compatible mode and can't go to full 2013 yet.

Hello

I keep seeing the following Kerberos error on my WFE every minute and I'm not sure why it is targeting the FARM account.

Tenant Administrator to Download Apps for SP 2013

Hello,  I am the SP Administrator for our SP2013 environment (soon to be SP Online) and we are also on O365 including Lync and Exchange as well.  There are time when I am in the APP Store and I want to either download a Free App or purchase an App and it tells me that only the Tenant Administrator can perform that task.  Since I am the SP Administrator, Site Collection Owner etc. what else do I need to add myself to be able to download Apps and become a Tenant Administrator?

Also some Apps that I have 'requested' say that they "pending"..  where are they pending and how to I approve them? I have Googled this to no end and I have an App Catalog but still am 'stuck'.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Unable to delete User Profile

Hi all,

I get this message when I go to "Manage User Profiles" in Central Administration and try to delete a specific user profile:

"Sorry, this site hasn't been shared with you."

I'm logged in with the SharePoint Admin account which is able to delete other user profiles. Just this one makes troubles.

About this "specific user profile": We have AD synchronization and this account got deleted in AD. But somehow UPS didn't get it.

I searched for PowerShell commands but couldn't find anything which lets me delete a specific user profile.

Any help is much appreciated!

Conditional Format Icon Sets not Displaying after SharePoint Update

We have a SharePoint 2013 site, and after we applied the update below, the conditional formatting for our primary dashboard no longer appears in Excel Services.  We have three different versions of the file and all have been affected.  I have tried removing all of the conditional formatting, and re-applying it, but it does not work.

If the files are opened in Excel, they look perfect.   A blank, new file with the same conditional formatting rules work fine.

Any thoughts on how to correct the issue??

Hello All!

I am trying to make Sharepoint 2013 Task Sync with Outlook 2013 works. But after click Task Sync button I get error:

We weren't able to sync your tasks. This could be because your mailbox is on an Exchange server that isn't supported for syncing tasks. Please contact your administrator for more help.

The next set-up was implemented:

  1. System was configured according articles:

    1. Configure Exchange task synchronization in SharePoint Server 2013
      http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj554516.aspx

    2. Configure server-to-server authentication between SharePoint 2013 and Exchange Server 2013
      http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj655399.aspx

  2. SSL turned on for Internet zone.

  3. OAuth set-up between Sharepoint 2013 and Exchange 2013.

  4. User Profile Sync Application is Ok.

  5. Work Management is working fine.

  6. Feature Farm Level Exchange Tasks Sync enabled.

  7. Autodiscover url ishttps://autodiscover.mydomain.ru/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml and successfully opens in Internet Explorer on Sharepoint server.

  8. Test user has Exchange 2013 mailbox.

Nuances:

  1. Exchange 2013 is configured in co-existence with Exchange 2010.

  2. We have main domain .local, but emails comes to .ru

  3. Web application has 80 port and .local in Default zone. And SSL and .ru in  Internet zone. For example:
    http://portal.mydomain.local default zone
    https://portal.mydomain.ruinternet zone
We used https addresses when set-up oAuth.

ULS log shows next:

As I understand, X-FEServer indicates on which CAS the probe was run. X-CalculatedBETarget indicates the Mailbox server to which the request is routed. In the log SVC-E13CA-01 is Exchange 2013 CAS andca-hub.mydomain.local - Exchange 2010 CAS.

Maybe this is the error?
Can anyone help?

403 Access Denied on page properties in some lists after restore (including master page gallery)

I have restored a backed-up site collection to a new web app on a different server. Everything seems to be working fine, except:

When I try to view or edit properties on items in some lists (via "content and structure"), I get 403, access denied. Doesn't matter who I'm logged in as. It works fine in the old site. I'm comparing list permissions side by side, don't see any difference. In some lists this works fine, I can edit and view item properties as expected.

It happens on the master page gallery where I want to edit an HTML page's properties, to disconnect it from the master page.

I also get "Sorry, this site has not been shared with you" when I go to "Check Permissions" in list permissions. This happens on both lists that let me view & edit properties, and lists that don't.

The restored-to site is on a fresh SP install. I had it happen before re-installing SP, so the problem must be in the restored site collection(?)

Hoping for some assistance on this. Thanks!

How to troubleshoot random pop-up message boxes asking for credentials?

$

Hello,

I have a SharePoint 2013 environment where users experience random message boxes for credentials.  Users would be using a SharePoint site just fine and doing a wide variety of tasks and then they get prompted.  They click cancel or OK, and the message box goes away and SharePoint continues normally.  They can use SharePoint OK for a number of hours, but then just clicking on a link for a page, the credentials message pop-ups.

Users have the sites trusted, the enable protect mode is checked off, and automatic logon only in intranet zone is selected.   Plus, they have access to the sites.

I have looked into SharePoint logs, IIS logs and Event Application logs and nothing there.

Could there be a problem Kerberos?    Where could I go to get a log file that would show security certifications lost between the client and the SharePoint 2013 server? Any tools I could use?

Hi,

I notice that my log on WFE filled out with lots of entries for DistributedCache, do you have idea on how to turn that off?

Calling... SPDistributedCacheClusterCustomProvider:: GetValue(object transactionContext, string type, string key).
Successfully executed... SPDistributedCacheClusterCustomProvider:: GetValue(object transactionContext, string type, string key).

Thank you!

Foundation 2010 upgrade to 2013 foundation - server licence

$

Hello,

I've looked through as many post's as I can in a day, and I'm still not finding my solution.

Problem is, We currently have Foundation 2010 on a virtual server, and I'm simply wanting to update to 2013 foundations. Now.. I know, simple is not the correct term, but I have been advised in order for us to upgrade (and as there is no inline upgrade process), we will need to purchase a new server licenseto accommodate for the upgrade process.

Is this correct? The upgrade pdf does not specifically say this, but it does elude to having 2013 installed and the farm established prior to the transfer. IT's the purchase of a server license that I'm just not understanding I guess.

OR is it just that the database needs to be backed up, foundation 2010 uninstalled, and then 2013 foundations installed on the same server??

Does this make sense?

Please help if you have a moment.

Thank-you all!

Brian

Can not open 100 MB PDF file from mapped network drive with SharePoint 2013 document library

Hi,

I am using SharePoint 2013 foundation on-premises version. I have mapped a network drive with document library. I can not open the PDF files which are larger than 100 MB in size on windows 7 workstation. I can open the same files on other workstation machines like windows 2003 and 2008 R2. I have already tried to change the FileAttributesLimitInBytes in registry to 4294967295 and also restarted the webclient service and also the machine, but nothing worked.

Furthermore, i have also tried the different version of Adobe reader like 9.0 and 11.0.2 also.

Any help in this regard will be appreciated.

Regards,

Akhtar

Databases running in compatibility range (Bdc service)

$

Hi,

We recently migrated from Sharepoint 2010 Foundation to 2013 Foundation by following the articles on Technet. The content database was upgraded and the BDC database was moved over.

Last week we applied some Sharepoint 2013 updates through Windows Update. This triggered the warning "Databases running in compatibility range, upgrade recommended." in Central Admin. We successfully upgraded the WSS_Content database by running the "Upgrade-SPContentDatabase" cmdlet. We also ran the command "stsadm upgrade"

However the warning remains, stating:

"The following databases have versions that are older than the current SharePoint software, but are within the backwards compatible range:
Bdc_Service_DB_8794504acc11494e8b95358fa979bd07,"

How can I upgrade the Bdc service?

Cheers

Sharepoint 2013 Server on Win2k12 Http Error 503. The service is unavailable

Good morning, I setup a sharepoint 2013 server on a Windows 2012.

Sharepoint Central Admin V4 keeps reverting back to stopped

SQL 2012 server is on another Windows 2012 server.

I am getting a Service Unavailable HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable error.

Steps I have done are ...

Went to IIS Manager > Sharepoint Pool > Application pools > Right Click on the Sharepoint Central Admin V4 > Advanced > Ensured the account there is a domain account for SharePoint.

Made sure the .netclr versionis v4.0

32bit applications are flase

The port i have is a random one not in use

Ensured the password for the domain account is good

I am stumped, pretty sure its something simple im missing.

Thanks in advance.
