Hi,
I have more solution that I updated with Update-SPSolution, and I found problem:
after I updated my spsolutions than in my site collection save buttons not working and the ribbon row is inactive or not showing.
If I run SharePoint Foundation installer with Repair mode than the site collection is restored and everything is works good.
But now I tried the Uninstall and Remove SPSolution and I get white page every site collection.
Please help, I not found the solutions for this problem.

I have a hosted SharePoint 2013 server which is accessed via the internet by https. I need to be able to authenticate against that hosted SharePoint server with my clients internal corporate Active Directory using ADFS. In my clients internal corporate network, AD and ADFS are already both setup as they are currently using ADFS for Office 365. Does ADFS also needed to be installed/configured in the hosted SharePoint 2013 environment in order to get it authentication against the corporate ADFS server OR does SharePoint just need to be configured to point to the corporate ADFS server and the ADFS Server in the corporate network configured to trust the hosted SPS Server (RP)? Thanks - MJ
Hi.
I've got an issue I'm having trouble resolving.
SharePoint 2013 farm with MySite host configured and 64 MySites created by end users;
It was brought to my attention some users can't "follow", so I explained they need to setup a MySite... but users are now unable to create MySites.
So I tried replicating the issue and sure enough when they click on OneDrive, it just takes them back to their profile page.
So I double check self creation, permissions, Manage User Permissions and managed paths all OK.
Checked logs and when ever somebody clicks the OneDrive link the follow appear:
User profile property 'EduUserRole' not found from from MySitePersonalSiteUpgradeOnNavigationWebPart::GetUserRoleFromProfile(). This should indicate that the current user is not an edudation user.
Skipping auto-upgrade/instantiation from MySitePersonalSiteUpgradeOnNavigationWebPart::RenderWebPart() because this user is a Profile Only user.
If I go to the User Profile Management page (under UPA) and check the box "My Site Upgrade:", then the user will have a MySite created and see the "Let's get social" page.
I'm stumped.
Any help/insight much appreciated.
Thanks.
We have a SP2010 farm and a SP2013 farm. Both are resident in same domain and their User Profile Service are sync with the same Active Directory.
To save system resource, we decide to migrate SP2010 site collections to SP2013 farm. From my understanding, I need to migrate the UPS database and perform upgrade at SP2013. My questions are:
1. After upgrade the old UPS I will see two UPS applications in the same farm (e.g. UPS-old, UPS-new) and they can run parallel just fine?
2. Since both applications are sync with same AD, should I and can I merge them? How to do so? Thanks.
Hi,
Apologies for what hopefully is an obvious question, but I'm very new to Sharepoint and trying to setup a new farm in 2013.
I've set a basic 3 tier topology, two WFE servers with an NLB, two App servers and a backend DB server.
I've created a few test web applications with site collections, on port 80 with a host header, authentication through NTLM. DNS pointing to the WFEs.
When I try and access the sites I just get a blank page, no error message. If I start the Web App service on the first App server I created (hosting central admin as well) I can then access the pages without any problems (DNS still pointing to the WFEs).
This seems to me like there is a problem somewhere, I would expect to be able to access through the WFEs without the Web App service running on the application servers.
Clueless where to start looking. Any ideas?
Many thanks,
Iain
After install SharePoint 2013 Service Pack 1 Russian I got the following error (approximate translation from Russian):
TypeLoadException: Method 'Upgrade' does not implemented in 'WorkflowServiceApplicationProxy'
Any ideas how to workaround it?
Hello!
I've been through most of the Sharepoint 2013 Distributed Cache service related posts on the Internet and couldn't find a solution to the problem I was facing, so I thought the time was ripe to post my questions here. Hopefully, we can work something out! Also, I don't really know if this is the right topic, since I think my problems are AD DS related.
The problem:
The Distributed Cache service and the Search service fail to start right after a clean install on Windows Server 2012. The error message:
System.Security.Authentication.AuthenticationException: A call to SSPI failed, see inner exception. ---> System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: No authority could be contacted for authenticationNeedless to say, that in this state, the Windows service tries to start and stops unexpectedly, the Powershell cmdlets cannot connect to the cache cluster (eg: Get-CacheClusterHealth times out).
Things I tried:
- Checked NTP settings and if time and date are correctly synced with the DCs.
- Removing and adding the Cache Service Instance using Powershell cmdlets I found on Technet (can't post link :( ). Also changed the service account to the domain user I created specifically for this service, and also tried repairing the cache host.
- Reinstalled Sharepoint 2013 on Windows Server 2012, 2008 R2 and even on 2012 R2 after SP1 came out. Also tried installing with AutoSPInstaller in case I'm missing something. Also tried installing a host with all services but Distributed Caching (-skipRegisterAsDistributedCacheHost) and installing a separate server with only Distributed Cache running. Neither of these provided a solution.
- Exporting and importing Cache host configuration xml file, changing the host address to NETBIOS name instead of FQDN, and increasing logging level (by editing "C:\Program Files\AppFabric 1.1 for Windows Server\DistributedCacheService.exe.config" file).
- Etc. :)
The interesting part:
Our primary domain has a Windows Server 2003 functional level, which is the forest functional level too. The domain controllers are running Windows Server 2003. This domain has been in use for the past 6-8 years. Let's call itDomain A!
We also have a newly created forest with the same functional level, but the domain controllers are running Windows Server 2008 R2. A two-way trust exists between the forests. Let's call itDomain B!
As a last resort, I tried changing the service account to an account from Domain B, while the server is a member of Domain A. This did not improve things, until I moved the server to Domain B.
Apparently, the service application immediately recovered, was up and running faultlessly in the other, newly created domain.
I started looking for things that might cause Domain A to function incorrectly. I ran metadata cleanup, and also found several DNS entries of old DCs to delete, computer accounts to remove. There are still many unused accounts in the directory, but those should
not cause any problems as they don't belong to servers.
Do you have any idea what may be the problem with Domain A?
Hope I explained the situation well enough.
Thanks!
- Tamas B.
Hi,
How can I make the "Posts" list available on a team site? This is a list that is normally on a blog site. Is there some sort of feature I need to enable?
thanks,

Hi,
I would like to create a publishing portal. Many users are able to create pages. I have the requirement that if a page does not get accessed for a certain time-period - it should be flagged for deletion and the creator should be notified by email.
Expiration policies depend on creation/modification date. Does this work for the last-accessed time (whereever I get this information from) aswell?

Hello,
We are having an issue with Distributed cache and AppFabricCachingService
Summary of Issue:
AppFabricCachingService service is just disabled. Restarted server but still shows disabled. Also noticed that Distributed cache service does even show up in services list. Ran product config wizard but even that does not help.
Any idea how to make sure that distributed cache service is installed and is running? Also how to make sure that "AppFabricCachingService" is also running? Or what causes "AppFabricCachingService" keeps crashing.
Thanks in advance

Hi everyone,
A power user ran into an issue while attaching a 2010 Designer workflow to a 2013 list. She ended up trying to delete, re-create and when it brought to the Admins no one can delete that workflow anymore. Seems like an orphan workflow to me.
I'm saying orphan - as this workflow (say 'RF') is not shown anymore under 'workflows' in Designer 2013 nor it shows up under the desired list anymore. Only place from the Designer I see a trace is under "All Files\Workflows\RF folder (alias for the WF - which seems like empty). If I try to delete I end up getting the error message -
Server Error: The file "/path/RF/RF.xoml" is checked out for editing by .
Too bad not showing who checked out the xoml...
Now the 2nd stage ...........
tried to get rid of this WF through the SharePoint Manager - same issue but ULS is logging more information luckily. I believe showing the user sID which it thinks checked the file out but not much help to me. :-(
Any suggestion how I can get rid of this? anyone ran into this before? Can I not forcefully check this in and delete? Problem is no other workflow is working on that particular list anymore.
Appreciate any feedback! Thanks in advanced!

I am building a test SharePoint 2013 system using AutoSPInstaller. Under Farm>Main, I can create 4 Managed Accounts for SPService, Portal, MySiteHost and SearchService.
Is there a list of other common names that I can create additional Managed Accounts for instead of use one over and over again?
We have a new SharePoint 2013 with a 1 server farm we will be using as an Intranet for our company (No extranet) with AD authentication. We would like to require a daily input of the Username/Password from the user.
Is there a simple way to have AD and SharePoint require a daily logon without using a Claims-based authentication? We have already looked at changing the User Authentication settings on individual machines (Prompt for username and password") but it will not effectively meet our logon requirement unless we have the cache cleared each time the user closes the browser.
My SharePoint 2013 has issue opening the top left cog: On amy page, every time when I was trying to click the setting cog and my name, an alert box will pop out
(System does not allow me to insert images, so screenshot is here:)
http://www.sfu.ca/~siyuanz/2.PNG
And also, under some subsite, my ribbon is gray off (and I am sure this is not a permission issue)
Screenshot: http://www.sfu.ca/~siyuanz/1.PNG
I tried to fix them by change the "Compatibility View Settings" but it doesn't help
These issues only happen to my IE (chrome, fire fox work well)
I have search working on SharePoint 2013. I have run a full crawl and it has indexed documents fine as well as added custom properties etc. After the full crawl ran I have added multiple documents to a document library that was previously crawled in the full crawl and has results returning. After the incremental crawl completes the new documents do not show up in the search results or in the crawl logs. If I delete or modify permissions on one of the indexed files that was previously crawled by the full crawl it picks up those changes fine in the incremental but doesn't ever add the new documents in the library to the index.
I can't keep running full crawls to get documents into the index. Not sure what else to check.
Hi,
Recently upgraded to SharePoint 2013, but the share website / invitation feature does not work. From the server I can telnet over port 25. The AV is not blocking, nor the Firewall. The IP is allowed over HubRelay for Exchange.
I've been through this article: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/cc263462.aspx#section2
Any ideas? Thanks, Matt.
Hi, I'm in the process of trying to tie a few things together for a potential extranet running on SharePoint.
In order for partners to log in do I need to federate with their domain?
If the external users have their own domain accounts will these resolve in people picker as normal?
Do I need different urls for both internal and external users?
How do I ensure that the url to my sharepoint site is resolved properly for external users?
Do I need to place any machines in a DMZ for this topology?
Apologies if these questions seem dumb but I can't get my head around it currently.
