Missing Site Feed Web Parts

I have a team site. I edit the page to add a web part. There is not a "Site Feed" web part, even though the Site Feed Web part appears on the default team site page. The Following and Site Feed features are both activated for the site. Several web searches mention this web part, but again, I do not see it.

Hi All,

i'm sure this is a simple one, but I dont know it, im running the below command while testing sp2010 database in 2013 and get a few errors so have found i need to run the showlocation parameter to find where the issues are

after running the Powershell command to get the GUID: Test-SPContentDatabase -ShowLocation

How do i find which web(s) are causing the problem, what am i supposed to do with the GUID given from the above command?

Hi,

I need som help to save a site Collection as a template. My problem is that the link to save the site Collection is not there. I have unactivate Sharepoint publishing and SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure in all the subsites in the site Collection and in the site Collection inself.

This site Collection is a Child to another site Collection and I do not if I need to unactivate SharePoint publishing in the parent site Collection too.

Can someone help me with this!!!!

A new top level site was created successfully but won't launch. What can be the cause for this?

A site collection was created with the URL intranet.contoso and it was added to the DNS as intranet.contoso. The top-level site was created successfully after that with the URL beinghttp://intranet.contoso/main but it is not launching and the following is the error message -This page can't be displayed.

This will be a production environment so disabling the security loopback will not be an option. Any suggestions?

Hi,

I have to create a SP2013 production server .There would be only one site hosted in that SP2013 Production environment.

My Question's:

  • Is it fine to host WFE & DB on the single server.
  • If No, why i should create different servers for it.

Hello,

I want to change some values on item created, using spd 2013 workflow, on item created. the workflow pauses for 5 minutes and changes the fields. But withing the  5 minutes interval, if the user selects <OK>, it gets an error: The file /documentlibary/filename  has been modified by the ....

By pausing, i think that the workflow gives the user the time to fill all the fields and then it updates the values, but obviously I'm wrong.

So, what should be the best approach? I can't use onitemupdated.

PowerPivot Management Dashboard: Workbooks do not update in Excel Services

[Running SP 2013 Enterprise SP1 w/ SQL Server 2012 SP1]

I having a couple problems with the PowerPivot Management Dashboard. (Well, maybe more than a couple but I am focusing on these right now.) If I try to "Query and Refresh Data" in the "Infrastructure - Server Health" web part (Server Health workbook) on the Mgt Dashbd, I get the error "External Data Refresh Failed / We were unable to refresh one or more data connections with this workbook. The following connections failed to refresh: / Data".

The "Workbook Activity - Chart" web part behaves a "bit better" - it does not give an error, just an empty graph.

If I open either the Server Health or Workbook ActivityExcel workbooks in the Reports web part (in the browser in Excel Services) and attempt to do a "Refresh All Data" there, I get the same error as above. If I download the Excel workbook to my local PC and open it in Excel, I am able to do a data refresh there without any errors. Here is the Data Connection String from "Server Health.xlsx" on my PC:

Now, to add another bit of information (which I suspect has something to do with the problem): my whole PowerPivot installation did not get installed in the "optimum" order. I did not realize I had to install Analysis Services in SharePoint for PowerPivot mode - I had only installed the default AS Data Mining mode. After installing the wrong version of AS on the SQL server, I installed and ran the "PowerPivot for SharePoint 2013 Configuration Tool" on the SP server and that seemed to go"ok" (other than the fact that I couldn't do data refreshes. :^).

So when I discovered this error, I went back and installed AS in SP for PP mode on the SQL server (using a SQL Server 2012with SP1 DVD) and after fixing my Data Model server in the Excel Services Application, things have gotten closer to "normal." But of course my Dashboard still isn't functioning correctly. Thanks for any input here.

Can i Integrate SharePoint 2013 with Exchange 2010

Hello Friends,

I am having a problem and need your help.

I have SharePoint 2013 and Exchange 2013  .

as in SharePoint 2010 There was several WebParts Which we can use like mailbox. i want the same functionality in my 

SharePoint 2013.

But those webparts are not available.

There is another feature called site mailboxes but it requires Exchange 2013.

Is There any other way you people can suggest to integrate

What is the definition of "unused site"?

Dear all,

I am interested to setup "Confirm site use and deletion" following this article:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262420(v=office.15).aspx

However I do not find the definition of "unused site". Is it defined by last modified date of any file within the site collection, or the last visit date of site collection?

In the same article it said "If the site collection owner confirms that the site collection is active by clicking the confirmation link in the email notification, thecertification date of the site collection is renewed." So there is an attribute "certification date" for each site collection? Where can I find it?

Tasks List not sending email to AD Groups

Hello,

I have several Tasks list on my farm and all behave the same way.

If I assign a task to an individual person, he will receive email notification.
However, if I assign it to an Active Directory group, no email notification is sent. The AD group does have an email address associated. Using outlook it can receive email.

The email notifications for the task list is enabled. If I check the SharePoint logs, I don't see that SharePoint is trying to send mail to the group's email. If I assign the task to a single person, he receives the mail and I can see in the logs that the email has been sent.

I have no idea where to continue the troubleshooting.

I am talking about this page:

In my test environment, after I created a community portal for a while, every users' "Sites" page show up a blue box link to the community portal. 
1. I would like to know how it work.
2. I have changed the AAM for the application hosting the portal. Hence the blue box link no longer work. I need to know how to change it.
3. The "Suggested sites to follow" is always empty for every user even though I have created many sites since a month ago. May I know how it works?

Users with Contribute and Edit permissions getting this error "Only a limited set of people are allowed to share this content" while trying to share documents with others. I'm pretty sure it was not happening before, I tried to break the permission for the document library but still same problem?

Any Help?

Setting up Sharepoint 2013 for apps

I may have screwed up the appropriate permissions for the service accounts/application pools necessary to get store apps to work. At this point I think I need to start over, but the rest of our Sharepoint install is working. Can I safely remove the App Management Service Application and Proxy plus the Subscription Settings Service Application and Proxy?

Our Sharepoint 2013 installation is pretty basic - just the Sharepoint application server and a 2012 database server.

Unable to open in explorer after setting alternate mapping

Hi all,

I'm using a SharePoint 2013 instance in Azure for developing purposes.

I was using links to the style libraries to edit css, js like \\winsrv2012\wwwdavroot\style library\css\myscc.css, it was working fine. I had to configure alternate mapping to be able to access SP from the web and since that change, I can't access the files with the windows explorer anymore.

I'm going to the style library with the SharePoint "Site content" menu and then click on "Open in explorer" button, I get a credential prompt, and even with the right credentials, it's not going through.

I can however edit the files with SharePoint Designer but it not my editor of choice.

If I reverse my settings, deleting the alternate mappings, it's working again, so I know it's not a problem with the web client or wrong credentials.

Anyone have a clue?

I cannot seem to find a solution to solve this problem.  I have it on three different/separate SharePoint 2013 farms.  I have looked up several posts and I am not having any success.   Can anyone help with how to troubleshoot this error please? 

I have upgrade the farms to SP2013 SP1, I am also running Project Server on these farms which is also upgraded to SP1.  I did have the problem before upgrading.  I only upgraded to the March PU and then to SP1

Hi

I have build a couple of test farms with almost the same SPAutoInstaller script and in both cases the managed Metadata service app worked perfectly .. In one of the servers, I have suddenly started getting. this error which I have never seen in any SharePoint 2013 farm I have built ...

Now this is a bit strange

  • Both Manage Metadata service app and the corresponding web service are started.
  • The permissions for the app pool account are correct as in all 3 check boxes checked
  • the anonymous authentication in IIS is set to IUSR
  • No 'obvious errors' in ULS except: The SharePoint Health Analyzer detected an error.  Drives are running out of free space.  Available drive space is less than twice the value of physical memory. This is dangerous because it does not provide enough room for a full memory dump with continued operation. It also could cause problems with 
Failed to get term store for proxy 'Managed Metadata Service'. Exception: System.Collections.Generic.KeyNotFoundException: The given key was not present in the dictionary.

Sharepoint 2013 Standalone Configuration failed

I am installing Sharepoint 2013 Standalone on Windows Server 2012 VM (VirtualBox).

everything runs smoothly until I get to run the Configuration Wizard. it fails on step 5 with the message "Failed to register SharePoint services".

The site template requires that the Feature {ad739f9e-1525-4dec-a25e-10821ca70c95} be installed in the farm or site collection.

Any Solution on it.Then Please provide me..

Sites only work on Server but not locally(on Intranet)

I have created a sharepoint 2013 site and cannot access the site through intranet. Even on the server have to provide the home page address rather than site name. For ex., http://sharepoint instead http://sharepoint/SitePages/Home.aspx.
