Hi,

I',m running a fresh install of Sharepoint 2013 foundation and have a issue. I cannot share/add permissions to any AD Security Group. The people finder can find my groups but when I hit ok it goes wrong. 

Does anyone know how to fix this?

 I am trying to install Cumulative update in Dev machine.

During installation when i browse the site it throws "User Profile could not be found". So during installation the site will be down? or only when we run the product configuration wizard it will be down?

During site collection backup and restore in different farm.

Do they need to be in same version? Or we can restore from lower verion to higher version.

Ex: i have taken a backup from RTm version and restore in farm which has SP1. Will it work?

I am trying to make Sharepoint 2013 Task Sync with Outlook 2013 works. But after click Task Sync button I get error:

We weren't able to sync your tasks. This could be because your mailbox is on an Exchange server that isn't supported for syncing tasks. Please contact your administrator for more help.

The next set-up was implemented:

1. System was configured according articles:

   1. Configure Exchange task synchronization in SharePoint Server 2013

   2. Configure server-to-server authentication between SharePoint 2013 and Exchange Server 2013

2. SSL turned on for Internet zone.

3. OAuth set-up between Sharepoint 2013 and Exchange 2013.

4. User Profile Sync Application is Ok.

5. Work Management is working fine.

6. Feature Farm Level Exchange Tasks Sync enabled.

7. Autodiscover url ishttps://autodiscover.mydomain.ru/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml and successfully opens in Internet Explorer on Sharepoint server.

8. Test user has Exchange 2013 mailbox.

Nuances:

1. Exchange 2013 is configured in co-existence with Exchange 2010.

2. We have main domain .local, but emails comes to .ru

3. Web application has 80 port and .local in Default zone. And SSL and .ru in  Internet zone. For example:
   http://portal.mydomain.local default zone
   https://portal.mydomain.ruinternet zone
   We used https addresses when set-up oAuth.

We setup an SBS 2008 box to replace our aging 2003 server and in the process we migrated our SharePoint install onto the new server as well. It's functioning well however we have a shared calendar in Outlook that people link to by going to the SharePoint main page, clicking actions, then choosing "Connect to Outlook". It links the page correctly however everyone receives a send/receive error and it's annoying me.

If you look in the attached screen you'll see it tries to reach the old SharePoint server URL and fails however it does resolve correctly the second time around. How can I remove the old entry?

I have already checked DNS and there are no references to the old server hostname or IP and the URL in the site settings page from Sharepoint is correct.

I did the upgrade from 2010 (Enterprise) to 2013. The excel files are not opening giving error.

ULS Log: "Unexpected error when trying to access service settings in the configuration database. Make sure the proxy for this service application is a member of the default proxy group for the active web application. Error = ExcelServerWebServiceApplication.Local: Could not get the web application associated with this context. This indicates that the Excel Server service is not properly registered or provisioned.."

Question : Do I need to create New Excel Service Application separately on SharePoint 2013 Server?

I followed this link for upgrade http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj839719.aspx but it doesn't say anything for Excel SA.

Note: I have plan to configure separate Office APP Server to give user access the documents on iPad/iPhone. Should I need to do any configuration related to this error on Office App Server?

I'm having an odd occurrence happen about 50% of the time right now when creating new web applications during my migration from SP2010 to SP2013.

During creating a web application in Central Admin, I can get through the first setup page, then get to the "This shouldn't take long" page and will sit there for 30+ minutes. I end up closing the window and will see that the Web application is there in Central admin, and sometimes the DB will be created, other times not, not a big issue since I'm mounting a sp2010 database to this web application.

What I do notice is that either a IIS site will either not be created at all, or it will be created, but the Virtual Folder is empty. When trying to delete the Web Application through central admin or PowerShell it will hang for hours until the next day when it's finally deleted. During this time I am not able to create any other web applications. It's usually at this time that I can successfully create a new web applications but even that is unreliable.

Has anyone ran into this issue or can suggest any workarounds to get this working? I'm wondering if copying the contents of another web application's virtual directory to the failed web application's virtual directory will be a workaround. I still need to verify if creating a web application through PowerShell gives me the same headache but at the moment I'm currently waiting for a web application to delete.

Both Distributed Cache SharePoint Service and AppFabric Caching Service stop on our web server in our brand new SharePoint farm:  1 web, 1 app, 1 search and 1 sql server.  I turned off dist cache service on all servers except the web server.  The AppFabric Caching Service and the distributed cache service were running for some time on this web server but recently I started seeing Event 1000, 2016, 6398.  Now the AppFabric service and the SharePoint distributed cache service are stopped. 

Please note we also have a two server development (web/sql) farm which does not have this error.  Also, while troubleshooting this, the system complained that dist cache was on two servers but not running so I removed the dist cache using powershell on those two servers where I didn't want it to run but of course left it on the web server. 

There are a lot of blogs with instructions to remedy this situation but they seem greatly unsuccessful.  I have only tried to stop the sp timer, clear cache, remove the dist cache and add dist cache to this server.  When I try to add or Start the Distributed Cache I keep getting these errors on the SharePoint 2013 server:

I've been pouring over threads on AppFabric install issues, but I can't seem to find a solution to it simply crashing (no error, limited log details, etc.).

I've downloaded SharePoint 2013 Foundations from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35488

When I go to install it, the Prerequisites fail for AppFabric. So, I downloaded it from scratch fromhttp://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=27115

However, both generate the same symptom... it simply generates a crash error.

I've already attempted the PSModulePath fixes (both restoring to defaults and deleting it), and it continues to crash.

Server is Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 Enterprise with full Windows Updates installed.

I can provide any details relevant, so any advice is appreciated.

I added the following backup script to one of my app servers Task Scheduler:

Backup-SPFarm -Directory \\<server>\spbackups\qa -BackupMethod full -Verbose

I need the script to overwrite/delete the existing spbr0000 directory each time it runs (space issues).

Can anyone suggest the easiest way to accomplish? From what I understand, that command-let will not allow for over-writing...

I'm testing Power Bi in SharePoint Online 2013.

Having some problems connecting from Excel 2013 Power Query to SPO, but I think I just need to patch up. but not my question.

Does anybody know:

1. Is Excel Web Access Webpart the only way to play a PowerBi dashboard on an SPO Page?

2. If I have an SPO List datasource, Will Power Bi/Excel Web access refresh/reload that data as the data is changed?

3. I read license is $20/mon for E2, what about A2 or A3 licenses?

4. If I get a license and create PowerBi dashboard with SPO List datasources joined to external datasources and deploy into an SPO page with Excel Web Access.  Do my users need a power Bi License to view and drill down via the page?

I am using Windows server 2012 for SharePoint servers and setup account is a local admin on sharepoint boxes

SQL server is: Windows 2012, SP1 and its OS is Windows server 2012 R2 and set up account has DB creator and sec admin roles.
