SharePoint 2013 on Windows Azure platform

$

I am using my MSDN account on Azure and have created a simple SP2013 farm with an app server for Office Web Apps. If I access my team site from a browser on one of the servers, everything works fine and OWA previews and opens documents.  If I try from my desktop PC, then OWA does not work and cannot find my OWA server. Any suggestions on how to get it to work from outside the Azure network would be gratefully received. As it's just a test system, I do not have any registered domain names associated with the site, just using xxxx.cloudapp.net

Thanks

Multiple STS(SPTrustedLoginProviders) providers for different web applications on single server

We have 2 web apps in sharepoint 2013 supporting 2 different projects on same qa server.

We are trying to create 2 STS providers for our SSO need of these 2 different web apps on same server.

My question is can we create 2 different STS providers(SPTrustedLoginProviders) with 2 different certificates on same server and use it in 2 different web apps?

First one is working. For second web app if we create another cert and use it to create another STS will it work?

We tried using single cert. for 2 different STS but its not working. I hope 2 different certificates will make 2 different STS work on same server.

ProfileService.svc file mentioned in endpoint does not exist

Hi,

Sometimes in EventLog I see UPS Synch failing and the error message is mentioning:

Affected Endpoint: http://My-ApplicationServer:32843/55b8fb732a79463e8a8d5e6b74cd380b/ProfileService.svc
WebHost failed to process a request.

I have checked the folder and see indeed ProfileService.svc missing.
I see 4 other files over there(FeedCacheService.svc, ProfileDBCacheService.svc, ProfilePropertyService.svc and web.config) in that folder, but ProfileService.svc is indeed missing.

I have also checked the endpoint at which UPS is listening with the script below

$upsApp = Get-SPServiceApplication|?{$_.TypeName -eq "User Profile Service Application"};
$upsApp.EndPoints|%{Write-Host $_.ListenUris;}

I do see ProfileService.svc on HTP and HTTPS :

http://My-ApplicationServer:32843/55b8fb732a79463e8a8d5e6b74cd380b/ProfileService.svc
https://My-ApplicationServer:32843/55b8fb732a79463e8a8d5e6b74cd380b/ProfileService.svc

I have also run the Repair of SharePoint 2013 from Uninstall or Change program and file is still missing…

Why this file is missing and how to fix this issue?

Thanks in advance!

We have wild card certificate which we are trying to register for 2 STS providers for 2 different sharepoint web applications for SSO.

We are getting

Microsoft.SharePoint Exception Message: The trusted provider certificate already exists

when we try to register same wild card certificate for STS of second SharePoint web application. The 2 sharepoint sites are working fine with same wild card certificate but not STS.

Test-SPContentDatabase : Invalid object name 'Webs'

I am trying to upgrade from SP 2010 to 2013.

For this I am following the database detach and attach process.

I have taken the backup of my content DB from SP2010 and restored it on SP2013 SQL server.

After this, I am running the following powershell command on SP2013 powershell:

                Test-SPContentDatabase -name "WSS_Content" -webapplication "http://servername"

After running this, I am getting the following error:

Test-SPContentDatabase : Invalid object name 'Webs'.

I even tried to use the Mount-SPContentDatabase command also, but still getting the same error.

We are in the process of upgrading a content database from SharePoint 2010 to 2013. I have resolved all initial errors from the Test-SPContentDatabase, but receive an error during mount which I cannot find any information on.

Hi All -

Following http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc263299.aspx I just did database upgrade from 2010 to 2013. Some of the site collections are not showing up. These are basic site collection with almost no custom code. Just bunch of list and libraries. Not even the system pages such as web part gallery, masterpage setting page none are opening. I check the Correlation ID  and the log file is showing the below error

Sharepoint 2013 giving permission behaves unreasonable

$

Hi there!

We have a strange issue with sharepoint 2013 library/folder/document permissions.

Example:

We have created 1 Sharepoint 2013 site.

Groups on this site are:
Owners: USER1
Members: USER1, USER2
Visitors: NONE

Site has 1 document library. This document library (as desired) inherites permissions from groups of site.

Now we wish to add one explicitly permission to USER3, and only to 1 FOLDER inside document library.

We click on three dots on a FOLDER of this library and click SHARE, give user EDIT permission and sent him mail.

Now User3 recieves mail that he has permission to work on this folder, but if he clicks on the hyperlink of the folder, the sharepoint site opens but with error, that he does not have a proper permission to access it. Is this probably because USER3 is not a member of any groups on the site groups, not even visitors?

Now the "unreasonable behaviour is" if then USER3 fills-in the data on the warning site and sends the request, after site member (who is in charge for accepting those request) saids yes, then USER3 is able to work on a desired folder.

Why is this second step necessary? Why user3 must additonally ask for the permission on folder which we already gave him at 1the st place?

Is this because user is not in 1st place in noone of the site groups? We would like to avoid showing this user the rest of the site content and only give him permission to a particulary folder.

how to avoid this 2nd step (user needs sending additional request?).

with best regards,

bostjanc

Update interval of SPuserlicensing feature?

$

Hi,

I'm looking into the options of using the SPuserLicensing feature in a SharePoint 2013 environment.
I have enabled the feature and created 2 mapping, one for a standard license mapped to a Security Global AD group "standard" and one for an enterprise license mapped to a Security Global AD group "enterprise".

Next I created 2 users: mrstandard, member of the standard group and mrenterprise, member of the enterprise group.

I created a page with a visio web access web part on it and it works as expected:
- mrstandard isn't able to see the content due to licensing reasons
- mrenterprise can see the content.

Now I added mrstandard as member of the enterprise group mentioned above and a quick refresh of the page doesn't show him the enterprise content. Next I closed my browser, logged in as mrstandard again and it still doesn't show the content.
Eventually I did an IISreset and logged in again as mrstandard, now he IS able to see the enterprise content.

I was wondering, what component does the check to see if the user is a member of the Active Directory enterprise group , and how can I influence it (set interval perhaps?) without doing stupid things like IISresets in a production environment of course :)

wsstracing.exe taking up 100% cpu

[Running SharePoint 2013 Enterprise (March CU) on Server 2012 Std]

I am seeing the wsstracing.exe process take up 100% CPU of one of my cores. Searching the internets, I see that this often has something to do with Search settings, but I don't have continuous search turned on, and I am only indexing 2 fileshares twice daily, and those only run for under 30 minutes each, so they aren't overlapping. Any suggestions as to where to look to fix this?

No Active Directory Users Show Up in People Picker

I have a new sharepoint 2013 installation and I have configured an Active Directory connection for user profiles.  Syncronization works, and I see 653 user profiles synchronized with 93 properties per profile.  However when I go into People and Groups, people picker doesn't match on any names.  I've tried DOMAIN\Username, which results in the message, "We couldn't find an exact match" and I've tried user@domain.local which results in "You can't add external users"

Incoming Email in SharePoint 2013

Trevor,

Side question - I need to configure incoming email; since I have multiple WFE Servers & APP Servers and based on Q&A at the link below (is the hotfix part of the December cumulative update 15.0.4551.1511 or I have to apply it separately)?

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/f9f1d254-0f9e-4eec-a1c7-a94252668680/sharepoint-2013-incoming-mail-with-nlb?forum=sharepointgeneral

Note that the SPLockJobType will be changed to Job in the December 2013 CU for load balancing purposes.

http://sharepoint.nauplius.net/2013/08/update-on-incoming-email-job-lock-type-change-between-sharepoint-2010-and-2013/

It is not recommended to run Incoming Email on more than one SharePoint 2013 server due to a synchronization issue Microsoft identified (hence the job lock type change).

Thanks

On running the Workflow Manager Configuration Wizard on our new SharePoint 2013 site, it fails at the stage "Add host to Service Bus farm". I am running as domain admin and have attempted this multiple times but it keeps failing on this part.

Error log gives this: "[Error] [29/05/2013 11:34:25]: System.Management.Automation.CmdletInvocationException: Starting service Service Bus Message Broker failed: Time out has expired and the operation has not been completed. ---> Microsoft.ServiceBus.Commands.Common.Exceptions.OperationFailedException: Starting service Service Bus Message Broker failed: Time out has expired and the operation has not been completed."

Anybody know the solution to this?
