Good day to you all.

Well coming to my question.

I have created a https site in sharepoint 2013 on windows 2012 server with IIS 8

The site created is on port  30973.

As per my requirement the settings are as below.

1. Authentication -  Claim based type

2. Use Secure Socket Layer -  Checked ON

3. Enable Windows Authentication - Disabled

4.Truster Identity Provider - Checked ON

My site creates successfully and also created the site collections.

In IIS, Enabled SSL and created self signed Certificate and Set Binding to the same certificate.

When i try accessing the above site, Giving access permission error.(username and password ) required.

Can anybody please help me out to resolve the issue.

What else i am missing in the settings?

I have 1 SQL 2012 SP1 server, 2 SharePoint 2013 WFE server , 2 SharePoint 2013 APP server , 1 SharePoint 2013 Distributed Cache server.

In the Event viewer on 1 of the APP servers I get EVENT ID 6398

The Execute method of job definition Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.LMTRepopulationJob (ID f0731880-5f16-49d0-b4c1-71f2443a7708) threw an exception. More information is included below.

Unexpected exception in FeedCacheService.IsRepopulationNeeded: Cache cluster is down, restart the cache cluster and Retry.

The Distributed Cache service is running on the SharePoint 2013 Distributed Cache server under a dedicated service account (i adjust it as per http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219613.aspx)

Things i've tried are to resolve above event id are

- add dedicated service account to local admin
- restart-cachecluster
- remove-spdistributedcacheserviceinstance
- add-spdistributedcacheserviceinstance

Running get-cachehost shows the server with status UP

I have 2 app , 2 wfe servers and 2 https web apps.
On all servers I configured 2 IP addresses and in IIS I have set 1 IP on the first webapp/site (binding) and the second IP on the second webapp/site  (binding)

Now when I browse my site I sometimes get a correlation ID which leads me too following in ULS log:

"reached maximum number of failed machines based on ping results for this routing group"

Stopping the RMS in CA resolves this problem but this wont be a good solution i presume?

I have SharePoint 2010 and term set tree defined.

I would like to let end-users to add new terms when adding new documents to the library, but this feature seems to disabled.

Allow Fill-in check box is disabled in the Document Library and cannot  be change from No to Yes.

I just installed Sharepoint Server demo in my environment to create a few demo sites to show the power of Sharepoint to management. One of the demos will be a homepage which has a webpart showing "Latest Announcements". That will be an RSS feed of group messages. However, I can't seem to find the RSS viewer webpart anywhere. If I go to add a webpart and then go to "Content Rollup", I don't see the RSS viewer there. Is there a way to add the viewer?

Im working on a SharePoint 2013 and ADFS 2.1 "demo setup" and are facing a little bit strange issue with forms sign-in.
The Environment:
1. ADDS / DNS Server (Local.dom)
1. ADFS 2.1 Server (Windows Server 2012 R2 - Local.dom)
1. ADFS 2.1 Proxy Server (Windows Server 2012 R2  - Standalone)
1. SharePoint Foundation 2013 (Windows Server 2008 R2 - Local.dom) 
1.Windows 7 (Local.dom)

So I have setup ADFS and ADFS Proxy so that it's working fine for Another installation (Dynamics CRM 2011) and is working just fine with both the internal url, which autmatically signs-in with Windows integrated authentication and when simulating external access(hitting the ADFS Proxy) I signin successfully with the ADFS forms signin page... Great!

Now to the problem, SP 2013 setup.
The goal is ofcourse to get SharePoint work the same way.
I have setup SharePoint with the simplest configuration with the E-Mail Address claim, and it's working... But only when simulating sitting on-premise and the client(Windows 7 hits ADFS server and authenticated with WIA..
Thus simulating an external access, once again hitting the ADFS Proxy, i successfully gets redirected to the ADFS forms sign-in page.
When I authenticate with my credentials the forms sign-in page flashes a second and then I'm back at the sign-in page again.
It seems I'm simply not getting redirected to SharePoint after authenticating..
There is no errors in the ADFS log, and I neither can find anything the ADFS debug log telling me whats the problem.
I have also checked the ULS logs and I can't find anything that reasembles an error on the time I'm authenticated on the forms sign-in and should be routed back to SP..

Has anyone else faced this issue?

I'm currenlty a little bit confused, since ADFS and SharePoint works internally as you can see below.


And for the Forms Sign-in,, I'm stuck in a endless loop.

I am setting up powerpivot in SharePoint 2013. It is installed and was working.

Im trying to view and change some settings in Central Administration > Manage Service Applications.

When I click on the "Default PowerPivot Service"  and then click "Manage", instead of bringing me to the settings page, it brings up a window saying "page not found".

Has anyone any idea how to fix this?

I installed SharePoint Designer 2013 on my workstation Windows Server 2012, but when I try to create a Site Workflow, I get the alert about the Platform Type:

"The option for the SharePoint 2013 Workflow platform is not available because the workflow service is not configured on the server. Please contact your administrator".

So, how can we configure the workflow service?

Wanted to deploy, well known app from SharePoint 2013 App store to my SP 2013 Enterprise. App named Tool Tracker.

Everything went good (no errors in windows logs and no sharepoint health issues) to the moment where, after some time the label "We're adding your app" changed to (un)famous"Sorry, something went wrong with adding the app." In the same moment in Application windows log something like this landed: "Log Name: Application, Source: Access Services, Event ID: 1238, Level: Error, User: DomainName\Sp2013ServiceUser, Description: An application could not be provisioned because there are no available database servers.”

App Management Service and Secure Store Service started and seems to working well. What I have been missed?

I recently installed SharePoint for the first time.  Within this installation, I've created a number of different sites.  To this point, I've just been directing the users of each site to the specific URL for that site (http://sharepoint.domain.com/sites/sitename/). However, since some users have access to multiple sites, I'd rather send them to a landing page that lists all of the sites available to that user.  That seems like the sort of thing that should appear at http://sharepoint.domain.com/ out of the box, but that URL just gives a response of HTTP 200 OK.  Is my installation of SharePoint or IIS improperly configured?  Does such a landing page exist within SharePoint?

I'm running the Sharepoint 2013 Products and Technology Configuration Wizard and its failing after step 7/8 giving me the following error:

One or more configuration settings failed.

Failed to create sample data.

An exception of type System.NullReferenceException was thrown.  Additional exception information: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

And here is the detail in the event log,

What is the proper value for a global search center url when there are intranet and extranet urls in use?

Consider a farm with a search center configured at the following url:

 http://intranet/sites/search

 And, assume that there are several other web applications in use, and anyone on the farm who selects to search “everything” should be redirected to the above site.

So, set the global search center url to http://intranet/sites/search/pages?

To complicate it further, assume there is a separate URL used by external users(http://extranet.company.com), and that external users cannot access http://intranet. So, a user goes to http://extranet.company.com, they type something in the search box, select to search everything, and the system then tries to redirect them to http://intranet/sites/search/pages, which they can’t access.

 So, instead of http://intranet/sites/search/pages, perhaps a relative url: /sites/search/pages? But, there are multiple web apps, and so if a user is browsing http://otherwebapp and searches, they will be redirected to http://otherwebapp/sites/search, which doesn’t exist.

 Thoughts?
