SharePoint 2013 Workflow issue

$

Hi,

We have SharePoint 2013 Production Intranet Farm with 5 servers [2 WFE & 3 APP servers]

When I select item and click workflow, error page throws "Something went wrong". And in SP log we found "Application error when access /_layouts/15/Workflow.aspx, Error=No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it". We haven't configured SharePoint 2013 workflows, hence we didn't installed Workflow manager.

Also upon checking the Service applications, we found that Workflow Service Application Proxy is only available and the workflow status is shown as connected.

Any suggestion how to fix this issue? thanks in advance.

Migrate SharePoint 2013 Farm to new domain

Dear Experts,

We have a SharePoint 2013 on-premises farm consists of 3 servers (one WFE, one APP, one DB) connected to our current Active Directory domain (abc.com). And we are planning to install a new Active Directory domain (abc-new.com) to a new domain controller.

So what is the recommended solution to migrate and move our SharePoint 2013 farm to our new domain?

- Actually I did not find any helpful article from Microsoft in this regards. Please advise if there is any?

- I found the following articles that explain the solution but with Single Server farm:

https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/sushrao/2011/12/02/sharepoint-migrating-sharepoint-server-from-one-domain-to-another/

http://tharindupg.blogspot.com/2015/01/change-active-directory-of-sharepoint.html

- In addition, some experts said that the best solution is to build a new farm on new hardware in 2nd domain independently and then perform data migration using Database Attach approach as below:

1. Build a Farm in new domain

2. Backup, restore and mount service application databases first.

3. Move one content database at a time and run PowerShell script to update user name from domain1\username to domain2\UserName.  Set the database in original farm to read only to avoid any updates.

4. Repeat step 3 for all content databases.

Thanks,

Access Denied error when editing permissions

I have full control to many pages and their contents on SharePoint 2013 but I am not a Site Collection Admin.

Recently, for no apparent reason, I have started to receive an Access Denied error when clicking on Shared With > Advanced on any item.  The issue is the same for all the members of the SharePoint group that I am a member of which has Full Control.

I am having to be added as a Site Collection Admin to workaround this issue.

Another workaround is to disable Access Requests site wide but this is something that we wouldn't want to continue with either.  Even after disabling this option I am still getting an error when trying to look at Information Management Settings on lists/libraries 'Sorry, this site hasn't been shared with you'.

Any advice please.

Thank you.

Hi,

We are on SharePoint 2013 On prem, wanted to pull the last user modified on all sub sites under site collection. I was using web.LastItemModifiedDate but it's not accurate looks like it's system modified date. I found other property web.LastItemUserModifiedDate but this user modified date is not retrieving any value just blank. Is LastItemUserModifiedDate only available 0365 not On Prem environments? Please advise.

MS Teams & Sharepoint Collaboration

Good Day All,

I am looking to utilize MS SharePoint in order to use it as an intranet system and collaboration tool to assist my end-users with their processors, project management, you name it, the works.

I am having a little difficulty in the manor of organizing the site, i was hoping to set up the SharePoint site with sub-sites of departments, split further by branch/country and then by split another time into teams and have them then use MS Teams on those sub-sites in order to ensure privileged information, security permissions and sharing could be easily managed, while ensuring all related items/tasks/documents/chats/etc. were all stored in the relevant SharePoint Sub-site.

Does anybody have any knowledge on how one could possibly implement this design?

Thanks

Office Web Apps Unable To Print?

Hello SharePoint Fam,

I just upgraded our organization to SharePoint 2013 on prem along with owa.  In 2010 users were able to open word docs and print from within OWA.  In 2013 environment I am unable to see the print this document option at all.  Was this option taken away in 2013 or is there a setting that needs to be enabled on owa side to allow printing of basic word documents within owa?

Thanks N Advance

SP Ribbon not working

$

Hi,

I migrated one site collection from SP 2010 to 2019 (it is a publishing site). All content is successfully migrated.

Old site contained many customizations.

The only problem is that ribbon is distorted (when I try to edit a page):

https://imgur.com/a/jJtS50Y

What could be a cause of this?

Probably some javascript or sth else?

When I create new publishing site collection on the same web application, and ribbon works on the new site.

Troubleshooting List Views

I have a list in classic view with 2 views, "my items" and "all items".  I have it shaded and also removed the option for the users to change the view and set the default to "my items" so the view is restricted. I am the administrator and should have full permission but this is a team site and it seems there are some differences.  I need to run a report and cannot see anything when i switch to "all items" except for what i entered. I have set up an approvers group that should have full permissions to view this list but they cannot see anything either.  Can anyone help me trouble shoot this please? thanks!

Installing Workflow 1.0 in SharePoint 2016

$

I'm upgrading SharePoint 2013 to 2016 and part of that upgrade requires installing and using Workflow Manager 1.0.

Based on what I have read I have a few questions with installing WFM1.0 as part of the upgrade to 2016.

1. Are the existing 2013 WFM databases upgradeable to SP 2016?  Or, is an install with new databases the only way?

2. Which server role type should WFM be installed on, WFE or App, or does it not matter?

3. I read that WFM only works in a 1, 3 or 5 node configuration (5 when using CU4 only).  My configuration is 1 App, 1 WFE and 1 DB server in the farm.  In theory will WFM not function as intended in this configuration?

Thanks,
Sean

SharePoint 2013 – SharePoint timer service keeps stopping.

$

SharePoint timer service keeps stopping on WFE (getting stopped immediately after is start it). it is working fine on App server (my farm has one App server and one WFE).

Below is the error message in ULS logs before the timer service is being stopped.

      • Adding <<Account>> to local group WSS_ADMIN_WPG.
      • Adding <<Account>> to local group IIS_WPG.

Below timer job from CA is being aborted every time the timer job is being stopped:-

      • Windows Service "SPTimerV4" Credential Deployment

I have done the below troubleshooting :

  1. Timer service account that is running the timer job is part of machine administrators group, WSS_ADMIN_WPG group and IIS_WPG on both the servers
  2. Timer service account is present in Local security policies->user rights assignments->Log on as service.
  3. Timer service account is the farm setup account and has dbowner access on all the farm databases (Config, admin content and service app DBs)
  4. Timer service account has the shell admin access.
  • I have restarted the server and ran PSconfig but nothing helped.

Can you guide me how I can resolve this issue.

      Hi All,
Word files of SharePoint 2013 sites unable to edit either on-line or in word desktop app. We are having web app server to open files in on-line. So I have recycled app pools related to Word in Web app servers. then now able to edit in on-line but can't in word desktop app, showing as "can't locate the internet server or proxy server".  for some other word files showing as "Sorry, we can't open https://xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.docx  because the server is not responding."
Is it takes some more time or am I missed anything. Please share your ideas..

      Advanced thanks...

Sharepoint 2013 Access request list email is someone@example.com by default

      Hi,

By default when a new site is created, in Access request list email address setting someone@example.com is coming. Is there any way to configure a valid default address everytime a new site is created. Preferably address of owner of site. Or we just always need to go and change it. Is this default behaviour of sharepoint 2013?

      Thanks,

Unable to save SharePoint 2013 workflows

      Hello,

I have been using SharePoint Designer 2013 to create workflows for SharePoint Online lists (SPD2013 is the only tool available to me). Any workflow I create, using the SharePoint 2013 platform type, fails to save. That goes for site and list workflows. I press Save, and SPD goes through the motions of saving, but when it's finished, the asterisk remains on the workflow tab -telling me that no save occurred.  When I press Publish, SPD once again, tries to save the workflow, with the same results. After attempting to save, if I close the workflow, I am prompted to save it again. Checking the associated list, confirms that no save or publish took place. I ended up losing all of my work.

      No errors are ever returned.

This problem does not occur when I use the SharePoint 2010 platform type.

Has anyone else encountered this, or know of fix?

      Thanks!

SharePoint 2013 or 2016 Online VM Options...?

      $

      Hi...New to the forum...My question--thanks in advance...

For the past 7 years and in my professional role, I have been creating SharePoint lists and managing them via a 3rd party Active-X plug-in which presents the records in a datasheet view.  The datasheet view, via the plug-in, provides me with exactly the features and functionality I need to manage the data and attachments in the most efficient manner.  Essentially, the presentation layer provides Excel-like functionality.

My company has migrated to SharePoint online, and the 3rd party plug-in will not work with the cloud version of the application.  I have been researching many options for managing my dB's in other apps (such as Access and Excel); however, neither provide the exact features I have today for effectively managing large dB's with attachments.  The drag and drop capabilities do not exist in Access (and is more HP than required for me solely), and Excel is inefficient for managing attachments for each record.  I should mention that no collaboration takes place with these dB's as I am able to create extracts in Excel to share with colleagues, as necessary.  I am the only person (other than our IT network administrators) who have access to the SharePoint lists.

That said, does anyone know if either Microsoft or any other vendor offers an online VM consisting of a full license to SharePoint 2013 or 2016, SQL (if necessary), and a SharePoint infrastructure that is fully managed (patched, upgraded, backups, etc.)...?  Essentially, I am seeking an online portal for the on-premise SharePoint 2013 or 2016 fully managed by a 3rd party as my IT folks cannot support SharePoint on-prem or a VM for one user.

      Thank you.
