i'd like to set up a demo hybrid two-way topology, with SharePoint Server 2013 "on-premises" running in an Azure Virtual Network.
TechNet two-way instructions include configuring a reverse proxy, and specific instructions are available for "Forefont TMG". But a Forefront TMG reverse proxy requires two network adapters, and it's not possible for a VM in an Azure Virtual Network to be configured with two network adapters.
I'm not really familiar with the "reverse proxy" concept. When the "on-premises" environment is within an Azure Virtual Network, is it really necessary to configure a reverse proxy in order, for example, to display search results in SPO from SP Server 2013 "on-premises" ? Unlike a typical "on-premises" environment, my SharePoint Server 2013 web application is accessible from the internet athttps://sharepoint.mydomain.com (because I have a CNAME configured in my domain's public DNS pointing to my-vm-name.cloudapp.net).
