We have an existing SP2010 farm using a SQL2008 db server. We have a new SP2013 farm on SQL 2012 being implemented soon and will upgrade SP2010 later to SQL 2012. I would like to know if it's acceptable to use the same db server for two different SP environments. Are there any performance or security gotchas that might occur when mixing versions on the same SQL server? What's the best practice?
