We currently use MSS3 and have a single top-level site, and one large content database. Because the database is over the recommended size, when we upgrade to Foundation 2013, we are planning to break up the existing site collection across several smaller databases. QUESTION: does having multiple content databases require multiple top level sites? If each database requires it's own top-level site, is it possible to have one overall site from which they can all be administered? The goal here is to get out of our oversize database without having to administer five systems instead of one.
Any suggestions would be helpful. I'm happy to clarify if the question isn't clear.
Thanks very much.
