how to exclude appfabric as a prerequiste to install sharepoint 2013

I created a vhd installed windows server 2012, sql server 2012, visual studio 2012 and am trying to install sharepoint 2013 all the prerequistes where successful except the appfabric

I get an error that it is not configured properly and I need to uninstall and reinstall.

How to install it properly and do I need to add any user accounts, I have as_administrators do I need to delete those. Do I need to add any user to the sql server. A database was created during the installation I named is appfabriccache

Is there a way just to exclude it since I am using vhd.
