Description: on the OTB, Discussion Board, it says "Sorry, you don't have access to this page" when users try to access to the list but this only Non-owners.  No matter what access I give an account, the issue still happens.  here are the steps:

1)  create discussion board list

2) add groups and give them contribute (or edit or design or full control)

3)  user clicks on discussion board link

4)  they get "sorry you don't have access to this page"

tried allowing users to edit all discussion in advanced setting.  same issue.  the only way they don't get this error is if they are in the "Owners" group on the site.

User Profile Synchronization Service, once working, is failing. What's wrong with my configuration/environment?

Configuration Details:

Version & build : SP2013 Enterprise Edition + SP1 + November 2016 CU

OS: Win Server 2008 R2 Standard

Database : MS SQL Server 2014

Suppose the user account is - domain\upsaccount

1. FIM & FIMSync Services( of Services.msc) configured to execute with 'domain\upsaccount' that has 'Replicate Directory Changes' permission at the Active Directory.

2. User Profile Service's App Pool is same as the FIM/FIMSync account - i.e. domain\upsaccount

3. My Site is configured - and was working fine

4. domain\upsaccount is 'dbo' of Sync Database of the User Profile Service application. However, one important point here is I'm not able to grant 'FIM_SynchronizationService' permission to the accountdomain\upsaccount.

[When I tried to grant the access, SSMS throws an exception -  Cannot use special principle 'dbo', MS SQL Server - Error 15405]
Will it really matter even if the user is a 'dbo'?

5. domain\upsaccount is member of 'Local Admin' groups of Application( where UPS is provisioned) & DB server as well

6. I added domain\upsaccount to the "Administrators" group of the User Profile Service Application

7. Granted 'Full Control' permission to domain\upsaccount on the User profile Service Application

8. Granted 'Change & Read' permissions to the folder 'c\program files\microsoft office servers\15.0' folder

9. SQL Server & SQL Server Agent also execute with domain\upsaccount

Despite the above permissions, I'm getting the following errors:

1. Event ID: 6050 - DS_FULLIMPORT failed.

When I checked in the miisclient, it shows stopped-connectivity & 'Replication Access was denied'

2. Event ID: 6398 - as below.

----------------------------------------------------------

"The Execute method of job definition Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfile.UserProfileImportJob(ID....) threw an exception. More information is included below."

"Access to the requested resources is denied"

-----------------------------------------------------------

I donno whatelse access it is asking for.

Please help me in finding solution for this issue.

No documents with the ID 4xJ-25-1688 were found in this site collection.

F5 Probe not working with SharePoint

I have an issue with F5 load balancer configuration with SharePoint.

I have 4 web apps, All are configured the port 80. I have dedicated IP address for each Web app. I am using the Http Probe from F5 and it is working fine when everything is up and running.

Issue is when I stop one web app on one of the WFE, as per expectation Load balancer detect it and stop sending request on this server, But this is not actually happening. F5 will detect it if I stop all the IIS but if one web app is up then probe fail to detect it.

I am wondering if you face the same issue and what solution you implemented.

After Cu December 2016 upgrade, people picker cannot find accounts from SharePoint Group

$

We have a several lists within a SharePoint site that uses the "Assigned To" field. This field has settings of type:"Person or Group", no unique values, allows multiple selections, People Only, and the"Choose From" field is set to a SharePoint group with four members in the group. The "Show field" field is set to "Name(with presence)".

Originally, when editing the form and adding "Assigned To" users, the people picker was able to resolve users when beginning to enter their names. Perfect. Following the December 2016 CU, we edit the form it can no longer resolve names from that Group.

If we set the "Choose from" field within the column settings to "All Users", the form is able to then resolve names correctly as it searches all AD accounts/AD groups. Switching it back to a SharePoint group then causes the issue again. I've found that the only way around it was to go to that specific group, remove the user account and then re-add the account. After doing this, the account now resolve and populates when beginning to type the name into the Assigned To field. Though, this only resolves for that one user account. Other account that have not yet been removed and added still have the issue.

I'm wondering if anyone has ever ran into this and if there is a PowerShell script of sorts to re-sync user accounts within the permission group.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

hi,

I am using a 3rd party tool for tracing communication between user browser and servers and I see that whenever a call is made to SP, a call is also made to another machine which is a remote access portal. I am unable to check where this configuration is there in the sharepoint.

I need this to be checked.

Any help? Thanks in advance.

Problem Viewing DocumentRouterSettings.aspx - List does not exist Error

Hi, we created a new site collection in our Records Vault, and everything looks ok except for the Content Organizer Settings page, where we receive Sorry, something went wrong on the _layouts/15/DocumentRouterSettings.aspx?Source=settings.aspx page.  When reviewing the SharePoint logs, I see the famed missing list error, e.g.,

10/19/2016 14:21:07.31  w3wp.exe (0x2180)        0x301C  SharePoint Foundation General                ai1wu    Medium                System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: List does not exist.  The page you selected contains a list that does not exist.  It may have been deleted by another user., StackTrace:

The DocumentRouterSettings page relies on the Submitted E-mail records list, and we confirmed that this list existed in the site collection and we were able to bring up the list, including the list settings and everything seems fine.

Since the DocumentRouterSettings is related to Content Organizer feature, we tried a number of solutions including Deactivating Content Organizer feature, Deactivating SharePoint Server Publishing, Deactivating SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure under Site Collection Features; and then reactivating those features, with no change in results.

We also compared this site collection to other existing site collections that were set up in the exact same way with these features enabled to see if there was anything different about this particular site collection including (list of features and permissions).  We found 3 other site collections with similar problem.  Two of those are working just fine, but one other records vault site collection is not working as designed.

Does anyone have any suggestions for fixing this problem?

SharePoint Configuration Database-Timer Job History Table Corruption

Hello,

We are not able to access Timer Job History and Status from Central Admin and we found out using DBCC CheckTable that there are logical Consistency based errors in Time Job History Table.

We have a corrupted Timer Job History table and below errors are recorded on SQL server.

Warning: Fatal error 824 occurred

SQL Server detected a logical consistency-based I/O error: incorrect pageid (expected 1:143637; actual 1:111541). It occurred during a read of page (1:143637) in database ID 7 at offset 0x0000004622a000 in file 'D:\DATA\Sharepoint_Config.mdf'.  Additional messages in the SQL Server error log or system event log may provide more detail.

Could some one suggest a resolution?

Excel spreadsheet locked out for editing.

Hi,
I'm having problems with Excel spreadsheets becoming 'locked for editing', and unable to access, after a user has edited and closed a document.<o:p></o:p>

This seems to only happen intermittently, and sometimes this 'locked for editing' state is lasting hours.<o:p></o:p>

Is anyone able to read through this error log and tell me what's happening?

I think the important parts of the log is the fact that it is locktype=0 and minutes=60 but here are the full details:

Thanks heaps in advance!

Preserving Document ID after moving documents to different site collection

$

Hi,

We have a single site collection that grew too large and now we're splitting the content to different content databases.

We're mostly using Document ID and saving documents.

From my testing, moving subsite (web) to newly created site (site collection) keeps Document ID in existing documents.

The problem is, I want to start new Document ID count in new site collection while keeping existing IDs untouched.

Here's the thing:

Our ID starts with "ID123". I added some new files and got ID123-111, ID123-112 etc...

So I changed it, without resetting existing documents, from Document ID Settings page (DocIdSettings.aspx) to "NEWID" and rerun both jobs (tried multiple times) only new created documents got new ID witch is exactly I wanted ... BUT

When I created again new documents I got my old ID with "ID123-113". I run dozen times timer jobs but old ID were never changed. So I changed again ID settings to "NEWID2" and rerun timer jobs. Last created documents got new ID but new created documents afterwards  got again "ID123"

Any advise?

Update: Even if I reset all documents with new ID, after timer jobs, all new documents receives old ID ("ID123"). Another thing, some documents got the same ID.

Hello,

We are using discussion boards from sharepoint 2013, out of the box. We wanted to esquire if the following are possible :

total discussions active/closed
how many threads have best replies
who have contributed the most

Please note that, we are not allowed to do custom development ( .net/visual studio ) in our site, we can only do client side scripting. Kindly suggest how it can be done.

Also it is possible to generate the following reports on a site ?

total visitors on THAT SP SITE
unique visits

Thank you,

Application error when access /_layouts/15/EmailSettings.aspx

$

Hello.

I am trying to enable incoming e-mail for a document library in SharePoint 2013, however it just produces a "Sorry, something went wrong" error.  Searching logs for the correlation ID I found this on one of the web front end servers:

Application error when access /_layouts/15/EmailSettings.aspx, Error=An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host

Getting Error Message for Exception System.Web.HttpUnhandledException (0x80004005): Exception of type 'System.Web.HttpUnhandledException' was thrown. ---> System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send. ---> System.IO.IOException: Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host     at System.Net.Sockets.NetworkStream.Read(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 size)

There isn't much else of any use, and when I Google the message it just returns results from people writing their own software, nothing to do with SharePoint.  Can anyone point me in the right direction for this one?  How do I know which host it is trying to talk to?

Thanks in advance,
D

Javascripts not working after applying SP CU of June 2016

Hi, we have a few javascripts on libraries for some reasons and after applyting the CU of June 2016, those stopped working. Those were working previously. I have re-added those JS using Content Editor webpart but those still not to work and also change the version of JS but no luck. Any ideas?

These are the codes: adding a default value for the people column;

<script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.10.2/jquery.min.js"></script>

<script type="text/javascript">

$(document).ready(function () {

var userid = _spPageContextInfo.userId;

function GetCurrentUser() {

var requestUri = _spPageContextInfo.webAbsoluteUrl + "/_api/web/getuserbyid(" + userid + ")";

var requestHeaders = { "accept" : "application/json;odata=verbose" };

$.ajax({

  url : requestUri,

  contentType : "application/json;odata=verbose",

  headers : requestHeaders,

  success : onSuccess,

  error : onError

});

}

function onSuccess(data, request){

var loginName = data.d.Title;

SetUserFieldValue("People",jcartin);

}

function onError(error) {

  //alert(error);

}

function SetUserFieldValue(fieldName, userName) {

var _PeoplePicker = $("div[title='" + fieldName + "']");

var _PeoplePickerTopId = _PeoplePicker.attr('id');

var _PeoplePickerEditer = $("input[title='" + fieldName + "']");

_PeoplePickerEditer.val(userName);

var _PeoplePickerOject = SPClientPeoplePicker.SPClientPeoplePickerDict[_PeoplePickerTopId];

_PeoplePickerOject.AddUnresolvedUserFromEditor(true);

}

GetCurrentUser();

});

</script>

To add formula and colors to three columns;

<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">

function RenderColorForModified(x,y)
