Hi. The title says it all: How to force SharePoint to display metadata form before opening Word when creating a new document?
On IE11, Firefox -> Word opens immediately after clicking on a document in New document menu.
On IE10 on another computer and Chrome on the same computer-> form is displayed!
I would like my users to get the same comportment, whatever browser/version they use. Is it possible to force SharePoint comportment?

When I try to seeVariation label page it keeps on showing me same error. But while checking the Variation log I could see variation site created with error,
Please advise on this and what I need to do to view Variation label page and to create target labels smoothly.

I'm trying to import a BDCM file to my SharePoint Online to get external data using WCF Data service (ASP.Net Web site even with Anonymous Authentication Enabled this site uses OData) fails to import with the error “Application definition import failed. The following error occurred: Unable to connect to the remote server Error was encountered at or just before Line: '63' and .
I can import the same BDCM file without any error in my SharePoint on-premises site and use it in my external list.
Not sure what I’m doing wrong, I can access the SVC file without any issue but import fails.
The ODataServiceMetadataAuthenticationMode and ODataServiceAuthenticationMode property in my BDCM file is set to PassThrough.

we enabled people picker by running this command: stsadm.exe -o setproperty -pn peoplepicker-searchadforests ...
I want to 'remove' or reverse this setting, because it is no longer needed and its enabled with a domain service account that will be removed.
what is the command to undo the searchadforests command?

I get the above error when accessing some sub-sites of a recently migrated site collection(migrated from moss 2007 through SharePoint 2010, on the 2010 farm I get the same error though).
When running the developer dashboard, it seems that the request stops at the following sql command:
select fullurl from TVF_Webs_Id(@siteId,@webId) and indeed, this select statement returns nothing(when rerun with the same parameters in ssms) for the sub-sites on which the error is thrown. The problem is that the@webId parameter is incorrect(it doesn't match any web id from dbo.AllWebs) and I don't know where SharePoint gets it from. I tried to use SQL profiler to see where this parameter is retrieved from but couldn't find anything useful. Any idea how I can troubleshoot this further?
Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Recently, a user record inadvertently deleted from the user profile. Since then I ran incremental and fullsynchronization
multiple times and the record is not in the SharePoint sync database. My synchronization option setting is ‘Use SharePoint Profile Synchronization.Any ideas as how to resolve this issue?

I am currently using SharePoint Server 2013. I have noticed that the SharePoint logs (C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS) keeps on increasing and in one day around 700 MB to 1 GB is consumed on the C hard drive space? It is keeping the logs of last week as well.. Can you please advise on the best practice for archiving these logs?
Can these logs be backed up on a another drive and deleted later?

Is there any impact on the performance in-terms of caching and IIS level?
I use 2 front end, 2 application , 2 search servers with 24 GB RAM.
If I use 60-70 site collections with one web application, are there any performance issues? Any impact on the load?
I can seperate content logically in two web applications.
What are pros and cons if I use 1 web application for the above requirement.
Or, any suggestions / advantages of using 2 web applications?

Hi I have a situation where I was able to get the SP 2010 features fixes around 45 out of 59. I don't have any clue and manager doesn't want me to clean up as well. What if I continue migrate these a few errors? Are there any long term and short term issues? I was told to address after migration for those left out features/solutions if required. Please let me know.

i want to work with my first app inside sharepoint server 2013 on-premise. so i did the following:-
1. Central Admin >> App >> create a new App catalog
2. Apps For sharepoint library >> i upload a .app file (which represents a sharepoint hosted App)
3. then i went to my team site>> add app>> "From your Organization" >> try to select the new App, but i got this error:-

I would like to get/configure all the service applications Databases from the physical servers - and re-create them on the virtual servers - so I installed SP on WFE and created new service applications with new DB -
Do I just restore the "old" services application databases over the newly created ones - and it just works?

I have disabled 'Distributed Cache' service and all related services are stopped (CacheCluster as well). Unfortunatelly in the SP logs there are multiple lines with errors like below:
Token Cache: Failed to get token from distributed cache for '0).w|s-1-5-21-1391948475-244012309-226562020-44117'.(This is expected during the process warm up or if data cache Initialization is getting done by some other thread). Exception: 'Microsoft.SharePoint.DistributedCaching.SPDistributedCacheClusterDownException: Cache cluster is down, restart the cache cluster and Retry ---> Microsoft.ApplicationServer.Caching.DataCacheException: ErrorCode<ERRCA0017>:SubStatus<ES0006>:There is a temporary failure. Please retry later. (One or more specified cache servers are unavailable, which could be caused by busy network or servers. For on-premises cache clusters, also verify the following conditions. Ensure that security permission has been granted for this client account, and check that the AppFabric Caching Service is allowed through the firewall on all cache hosts. I have some requirement where the data is very critical because of which management wants doesn't want to show data to any user other than HR not also to SP Admin.
Is there any way by which we can achieve this?
The development on the site is also going on and we are following agile methodology for development so because of which we might not be able to remove few user's from admin group.
