Currently I have an SP2010 production server setup and its name : http://intranet.mycompany.com and we are going to migrate to SP 2013 next weekend. Currently I have been testing withhttp://intranetSP13.mycompany.com

I just want to set readonly to the SP2010 production instance. So I still have that DNS active. Should I create the final migration web application/site application url with different name like I have been doing with testing and change host header and AAM and map DNS once the old DNS is cleared?

My only worry is when the entire web application, site collection is setup with name intranetsp13, all other internal references within list, libraries scripts wont be changing when dns change happened.

What are the thoughts and recommended way to handle this? Please expert advise.

Hi every body

my sharepoint farm works ok before but one day I saw the below error  in CA/review problems and solutions :
One of the cache hosts in the cluster is down.
first this error occurs for one server but after that occurs for the other one
i use this command in powershell :get-cachehost
but raise this error:

get-cachehost : ErrorCode<ERRPS013>:SubStatus<ES0001>:Error: No valid cluster
settings were provided with Use-CacheCluster.

after that i run this command :
use-cachecluster

and after run get-cachehost

this shows 3 servers in farm 2 of then down but one of them up.

i want to fix that some articles say i restart distributed cache in services on server in CA. i go to do that.

in one server(show dawn in result of get-cachehost) stop.after that didn't start with this error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. this error show the correlation id.
i create log file for that correlation id and i can't undrestand the meaning of error these error listed below:

In other server(show down in result of get-cachehost): the service stop but after start it show error starting!!!!
after that i want to stop it again but its state change to stopping !!!!

i confused about these things if these days the only server shows up status became down what should i do ?

Can I synchronise from 2 domain connections using AD import?.

My environment is currently using the AD import from one domain xxxxx.com and works perfectly.

But we are moving over to a global domain which is xxxxx.net.

I've created a dev site and added the new domain connection to the Synchronization Connections screen, but when I run the start profile synchronization it returns nothing.

I did a SharePoint upgrade from SP2010 to SP2013 using the attach database method.

Everything went well, and the site is fully upgraded.

The probleme is, on the SP2010 site I have a Calendar with many recurring events, which works perfectly. Once In proceed to the Visual Upgrad, I can no longer add recurring events on the same Calndar list. I click the link to add a new event (I have a custom content type), I fill in metadata in the Newform.aspx, and when I click 'Save', nothing happends, only thsave button goes greyed out, and then stays like that forever ! I found nothing on the ULS Logs.

Any Guru can help here ? thank you.

i have configured the workflow manager 1.0 refresh in my sp 2013 sp1 on my win srvr 2012 r2 os platform.

 my dev wfe is on one server and my sql db is on another server.

but after installing and configuring and wf manager 1.0 refresh i went to sp designer 2013 and went on to create a simple test workflow like log to history list operation in the default documents document library.

But wheni save and published the workflow, am not able to see the "in progress"  status column value in the document library.

i am stuck with this, why i am not able to see this column ? but as per the SharePoint design, after the designer workflow is created , it should display the status  either " in progress"  or error occured or completed etc etc.

what may be going wrong?  do i need to do some other kind of configurations need to be done on the workflow manager in fra? or something on the farm level ? or at the web appln level ?

please advice

I am installing SP dev environment. and after successfully deployment will go to install Prod.

2 SQL Node, single Nic, windows fail over cluster, and sql always on.

1 SP application server.

1 SP WFE server.

Question is.

Windows fail-over cluster do we need Share virtual name/IP?

SQL installation do i need standalone on both sql servers or do i need to install sql failover option?

If i choose sql standalone installation and configured always on and add 2nd sql node and test DB. In sql always on listener i choose DNS name and IP. is that correct?

I install first SharePoint vm, question is when i run configuration wizard which DB server i enter? sql node1 or sql node2 or SQL always on Listener name? or availability group name? please help me which option i choose.

and do i need to add manually sharepoint config and other web app database in always on group?

I have a development and live instance of SharePoint 2013.

When trying to view the User Profile Service Application on the development server (which was already setup) get the error:

Sorry, something went wrong

An unexpected error has occurred.

This link (from the Central Administration GUI) appears to be running the http:// {SharePoint Address}/_layouts/15/ManageUserProfileServiceApplication.aspx?ApplicationID={id_number} command. In the case of the development server this brings back a 'Sorry, this site hasn't been shared with you'error message when run directly in a browser.

The Live server has recently begun to show the same error, intermittently, when selecting the ‘User Profile Service Application’ option from the  ‘Service Applications’ – ‘Manage service applications,’ menu in ‘Central Administration.’ This was working as expected yesterday, and nothing seems to have been changed!

In both cases the ‘User Profile Service’ is started.

Any help would be appreciated.

My colleague updates a wiki on a regular basis but has been experiencing problems with the formatting of the wiki.

The wiki changes the layout to a block of text and takes away text formatting (e.g. bullet points, font style). This has happened a couple of times. The first time the formatting reappeared without any manual intervention. However, the same has happened again and I am going to have to revert to a previous version as the formatting has not reappeared. However, the changes between the versions will be lost. 

Does anyone know why it would amend the formatting and how it can be retrieved without reverting to a previous version and losing amendments?

I'm using managed navigation for my quick launch and everything is running fine. However when I use Friendly URLs for child terms the navigation completely changes focus and I lose visibility of the Parent terms.

Hopefully the screenshots show this clearly.

It should be noted that this only happens with FURLS and using Simple Links or Headers keeps the Parent and child links in tact.

I would however like to use FURLs.

I have an issue with the configuration of SSL for a webapplication in SharePoint 2013. The webapplication originally is created using a hostheader on port 80. Now, we want to switch to HTTPS.

We have a wildcard certificate *.domain.com.

This is what I did:

- Removed the HTTP binding in IIS and replaced it with an HTTPS binding with that wildcard certificate.
- In the Alternate access mappings in SharePoint, changed the default mapping from HTTP to HTTPS.

When I try this with the administrator => works!
When I try this with another user => Sorry, something went wrong with an unexpected error 

So, I tried to do an IISRESET on all server => works sometimes. After that a user can login. But other users cannot.
So, I tried to reboot all servers => same result. Some users can login, some cannot.

What am I missing here?

I want to 'remove' or reverse this setting, because it is no longer needed and its enabled with a domain service account that will be removed.

what is the command to undo the searchadforests command?

After I uninstalled Workflow Manager, installed it again and reregistered SPWorkflowService only site collection administrator can run workflows 2013. If workflow is started by simple user SharePoint suspends it (even if user has full control permissions on item) with error:

Hello,

I have a SharePoint farm that is exhibiting an interesting behavior. Database errors are being logged in the ULS logs but they are not showing up in Event Viewer. Usually they do show up. DB Errors like login failed, and the example below. On other farms these errors show up in the Event Viewer but not this particular farm.

I have tried using the Clear-SpLogLevel powershell command to ensure that default settings are in place. Event Viewer logs are not being filtered. Other SharePoint errors like Health errors are appearing in the logs. What else should I look into?

I am dealing with SharePoint 2016 site backup and restore.

I am having a parent site abc\a\home.aspx

Inside this site we have several sub sites like abc\a\b\c\d\e\home.aspx

I am taking a backup of entire site collection, now I want to restore only site for example say site e from entire backup file.

Other web application a,b,c,d should not effected with this import operation.

I am using below command to take backup of entire site collection.
