Sorry, you don't have access to this page

Any ideas?  This site was supposed to go live this weekend but a security glitch is not going to allow that to happen.

Hi,

Please note that both Production & DR Located in Same Country with WAN.

No Customization have been done on the Master Pages, no Custom solutions deployed.

New term and Children not showing on some sites for some users - Permission issue

HI,

I recently added a new term to the Managed Metadata Global Navigation for our site.  Pinned that term to a few other global navigations for other sites and called the request complete because I could see the new term and children in the navigation.  When the requestor went to check he said he was unable to see the term and children on the "home" site but he did see it in the his departments "site" where he has "full control" rights... On the Home site he has "read only".

What could have caused this?  where do I set permissions for that particular term to show up?

Thanks! Larry

DB for SSRS in SharePoint mode is stuck in a "Provisioning" status

My SSRS (in SharePoint integrated mode) database is stuck in a "Provisioning" status (PowerShell on how I found that out). SSRS still seems to work but the SharePoint best practice analyzer is telling me an upgrade is needed but the databases are not showing any upgrades needed. What can I do to get the DB out of "Provisioning" status? Should I upgrade it somehow? Or is there something else I can do here. (I have recently run "PSConfig.exe -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -wait -cmd applicationcontent -install -cmd installfeatures -cmd secureresources" and that hasn't helped.) I appreciate any assistance in advance!

I ran the below command to find the status of my SSRS DB:

Get-SPRSDatabase | Select-Object *

Document Libraries - everything working except the + new document button.

We have been having permission issues with our Document libraries. With the exception of site administrators, when I grant "Full Control" permissions to either individuals or groups, everything works like it is supposed to except the "+ new document" button, which opens up a light box displaying the message:

"Access Required

This site hasn't been shared with you."

When I go to Library -> Settings -> Permissions for this document library -> Check Permission, and then check for the specific user I'm testing with, I get the reply that they have Full Control giving directly. Everything else works for the user it the library. They can drag and drop to upload, they can work with the document menus, edit properties, check out, etc. As a site collection administrator, everything works, including the new document button.

The one thing that doesn't work is the "+ new document" button on the front page of the document library. I have not been able to find any notes on this issue on the internet and am hoping someone here more experienced then me can point me the right direction.

Content databases contain orphaned apps

$

Hi,

I get a warning in ‘Review problems and solutionsthat a content db contains orphaned apps.

I found this post:

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/1cd465cb-a420-4553-8971-798b501d9a34/content-databases-contain-orphaned-apps-cannot-remove-app?forum=sharepointadmin

The steps to fix-it described in this post are:

- Find the ID in the ULS logs from the deleted site collection with the orphaned app.
- Restore the deleted site from the Central admin recycle bin.
- Remove the app and delete the site again.

My problem is that de site is already gone from the CA recycle bin. (get-SPdeletedsite)
Moving all the sites (+/- 100GB) to a new db is not an option in a production environment.
Is there another way to remove an orphaned app from the db?

Thanks in advance,

Johan

Error on Edit My Profile after SHP2013 upgrade to CU July2016

$

Hi all,

we just upgrade a SP2013 farm from SP1 + November 2014 CU to July 2016 CU. The upgrade went well (binaries + psconfig) without any issue during the process. But after the upgrade we have an unexpected error when accessingEdit my profile from user personal site (MySite).

Before the upgrade, access to Edit My profile worked fine.

Following the correlation ID, we found in ULS trace that the error is related to the fact that MySite IIS Pool service account does not have the permission to execute SQL procedure proc_MSS_GetSchemaHighLevelInfo on Search DB.

Checking this SQL procedure proc_MSS_GetSchemaHighLevelInfo on Search DB, we saw that only database roles db_owner and SPSearchDBAdmin have the rights to execute it. MySite IIS Pool service account is not and never has been a member of SPSearchDBAdmin database role.

We have a second SP2013 farm still in  SP1 + November 2014 CU. Access to the Edit My Profile on MySite from this farm is working fine and when looking at the ULS trace (information on database connection in verbose) no SQL connection to the Search DB and SQL procedure proc_MSS_GetSchemaHighLevelInfo is traced. Also the SQL permission for proc_MSS_GetSchemaHighLevelInfo on Search DB is the same for both farm (db_owner and SPSearchDBAdmin) and the members of SPSearchDBadmin are also the same (SP Farm account and Search managed account).

I have checked on SharePoint 2013 least permission guide and I don't see any reference on the fact that MySite IIS pool service account should be added to SharePoint Search Administrators.

I have not be able to find a note about any change related to the permission for MySite IIS pool service account in the CU release notes between Nov2014 and July2016.

Has anyone faced this issue before ?

Do we have to add MySite IIS pool service account as Search Administrators ?

And is there any document referencing this change that we could provide to our client ?

Best regards

Ghislain

Patching server/project

$

I understand the SharePoint Server patch now contains everything in the foundation patch, so there is no need to install both (like used to be the case).

Does this also apply to the Project 2013 patch containing everything in the Server patch?

the project patch is the largest of the three so points to this being correct.

so...

Foundation < Server < Project

Thanks!

Add FBA Users & Roles to SharePoint through PowerShell

I know this question was already asked and it was answered here, but it refers to some links, which are not working for me. I need to add FBA users / roles to SharePoint site through PowerShell. Following are the links mentioned as answer in the above link.

https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/brporter/2010/12/02/adding-users-and-claims-to-a-site-from-powershell/

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff607546.aspx

The above TechNet link mentions a command called New-SPIdentityProvider. But when I try to use it, I get an error in PowerShell that it is not recognized as a cmdlet.

Also, I don't want to hardcode the part "i:0#.f|<myMembershipProvider>|" in the user name while calling the web.EnsureUser method. Can anyone please help?

"Undeclare Record" of a List Item not possible - This item cannot be updated because it is locked as read-only.

Hi,

I have a SharePoint list where in users can set a list item as Record (manual selection). In this list there are 2 items which were declared as records about 2 years back. Now it's time to move these records to a different list (sort of archive).

While moving these items I am getting an error -

Looking into the ULS logs referring the correlation id doesn't give any extra hint as the same error message is logged there too -

"This item cannot be updated because it is locked as read-only. "

What is holding a list Item in Read-only mode? Settings checked -

1. At site collection level; Record restrictions set to 'No Additional Restrictions' from 'Block edit and delete' (which was set previously)

2. I being Web app admin am unable to undeclare the record.

3. List setting -

Does Workflow Manager depend in any way on Workflow Timer Service

$

Hi,

So we have a 7 server farm.

2x Web Front End Servers

2x Application Servers

3x Search Servers

We have a Nintex Workflows deployment on 2 servers (1 WFE and 1 APP). The client wants to implementWorkflow Manager on the 3 search servers.

Nintex Workflows uses Microsoft Sharepoint Foundation Workflow Timer Service to determine on which server to run workflow processing. Because of that this service is turned off on all servers except one of the APP servers which processes the workflows.

My question is does Workflow Manager use, need or in any way interfere with Microsoft Sharepoint Foundation Workflow Timer Service?

Can we leave this service turned off on the search servers where Workflow Manager will be installed?

Greetings,

George

Merge-SPLogFile doesn't work

I tried to run this command:

Merge-SPLogFile -Path "d:\spLogs\BWMergedLog.log" -Overwrite -StartTime "11/2/2016 12:20:00" -EndTime "11/2/2016 12:30:00"

It returned a Warning of "Unable to start job CollectLogFiles_[AppServerName]_[Some Random Number] on server [AppServerName].

I tried running this command in Powershell (running as Administrator) on both my web and app servers. Each time it complained about the app server.

Internet search engine results suggest to check that the time zone setup on each machine is the same. I have verified that they are both set to the same time zone.

As extra information, I also get an error on the web server every hour from the Health Analyzer that timer jobs haven't run on the app server for the "the last two hours". (The following servers have not executed any timer jobs in the last 2 hours: [AppServerName]. After checking, the timer service is demonstrably running. Internet search engine results also suggest this may having something to do with time zone settings, which, as stated before, match on the servers.

Any pointers to another possible cause?

PowerShell script to Create My Site Host Site Collection

I am trying to create My Site Host Site Collection through PowerShell scripts. I am able to create a new web application, set Self Service Site Creation Enabled property on it, Create a new Permission Policy for creating subsites, Associate this Permission Policy to Everyone user in User Policy for this web application, Create a new Managed Path and also create a new Site Collection, all through PowerShell. Now, in the User Profile Service Application, there is a link to Setup MySites. Here we associate the user profile service application with the my site configuration. I need to be able to achieve these steps also through PowerShell, but not able to. I tried to check the properties / methods on the User Profile Service Application and also its Proxy, but couldn't find anything. Can anyone please provide the scripts for this?

Hi

I don't see this option in/under Monitoring in CA - is this because logging is disabled in the IIS?
