SharePoint Task List Gantt View - add horizontal lines

$

Hi,

I am faced with the idea of my CTO to make horizontal lines visible in a task list gantt view.

I created a picture which shows the idea. (Due to my new status here in technet I was not able to add a picture to my post. Picture can be seen here: https://s22.postimg.org/avxuw7gzj/gntv.png )
The added red lines is what he wants to see. Tried some changes in the css by using the developer tools of IE11.

Has anyone an idea how to achieve this? Would be pleased!

Thanks in advice!

Phil

What are the downsides of having a large filesize upload limit (e.g. 2GB per file) in SharePoint?

Hi there

What are the downsides of having a large filesize upload limit (e.g. 2GB per file) in SharePoint 2013?
Will it make SharePOint slow? Or be degrading to performance etc?

Thanks.

Site Policies and deleted root webs that can't be restored

$

We have implemented a SharePoint site life cycle management process using Site Policies in a SharePoint Online tenant.

However, when a root web in a site collection is deleted using the site policy we have a bit of a problem, two different problems actually. Both of the problems originate from the fact that the site policy only deletes the root web, not the actual site collection. So the site collection remain as an "empty" shell.

Problem 1. This makes it quite hard to restore the deleted web. The web would normally end up in the recycle bin but that is inaccessible since there’s no root web to browse in the site collection. So- how do we restore a deleted root web?

Problem 2. We end up with empty site collections. They can still be seen in the admin portal but if I try to manage it everything breaks since there’s no root web. We cannot create new site collections with the same name since the name is already taken etc. How do we get rid of these empty site collections.

Thank you!

Can't 'stop following' a site

Hello -

I have a user who has been following several sites.   In his My Site profile, when he tries to 'stop following' a couple of sites, it doesn't remove them from his 'Sites I'm following' list.

I found the following information in the ULS logs and verified that the site does exist.   I was able to follow and stop following without issues, however, I noticed that I too have a few different sites in My Site that are producing the same behavior.   Anyone else run into this problem before?

FollowedContent.StopFollowing(http://sharepoint/Projects/DF) : Local execution failed; Could not stop following the item http://sharepoint/Projects/DF: Exception: ItemDoesNotExist : Item does not exist.

SharePoint ADFS/AD Single Sign On Multi Profile Architecture Problem

Hi all,

I'm trying to find a sharepoint architecture solution about the following problem:

  • I've 2 kinds of users : "External" and "Internal".
  • External users have an AD account, they reach my SharePoint webapp through Internet and authenticate with ADFS.
  • Internal users have an AD account :
    • when they are inside the company they access to my Sharepoint webapp through the internal network and with SSO Windows Authentication (NTLM).
    • when there are outside they access through ADFS

In SharePoint with this kind of configuration I have 3 types of user profile :

  • 1 Internal (AD)
  • 1 Internal coming from internet (ADFS)
  • 1 external.

My problem : for each internal user i've two Sharepoint account ( one "AD" and one "ADFS").

Because of this, Sharepoint site owner have to set permission on both AD account and ADFS account to give access regardless the user came from (internal network or internet).

I can remove NTLM authent for SharePoint and just use ADFS but i don't want that my internal users inside the internal network have to reauthenticate..
how can i configure my ADFS to automatically authenticate internal user with their NTLM credential when they are in the internal network ?

Thanks

Restore-spsite : Invalid handle.

I'm trying to restore a site from my staging server to the production server.

I used the following command:
Restore-spsite -identity <siteURL> -DatabaseName <DatabaseName> -path <PathToBAKfile> -force -HostHeaderWebApplication <webapp>

The path to the .bak file is at D:\restoreFile.bak, and the user has full access to the folder and file.

In the ULS Log, this is the error that prevents me from restoring the site, it seems like it has some problems creating the handle for accessing the backup file, but I could not figure out what I'm doing wrong:

Could not deserialize site from <PathToBAKfile> . System.ArgumentException: Invalid handle.  Parameter name: handle

Any help would be appreciated.

Count users that had accessed to SharePoint

Good day!

I have a task from my CIO: every day count users that just access for SharePoint farm and wich has rights for access SP.

SharePoint 2013 Enterprise.

I've found some articles in Internet like this:

(Get-SPSite -Limit ALL | %{$_.RootWeb.AllUsers} | ?{$_.IsDomainGroup -ne $true} | Select -Unique LoginName).Count

But if user have accessed to any site in farm today and i'll will start script tomorrow, does this user counts by this script?

Or if user today accessed site, and then administrator deleted user from AD - does this user will appears in result of script?

Myabee anybody knows another way to count users, that had acceess to SharePoint for today?

Thanxe -L(Get-SPSite -Limit ALL | %{$_.RootWeb.AllUsers} | ?{$_.IsDomainGroup -ne $true} | Select -Unique LoginName).Countimit ALL | %{$_.RootWeb.AllUsers} | ?{$_.IsDomainGroup -ne $true} | Select -Unique LoginName).Count

(Get-SPSite -Limit ALL | %{$_.RootWeb.AllUsers} | ?{$_.IsDomainGroup -ne $true} | Select -Unique LoginName).Count

SharePoint 2013 not adding Active Directory AD groups to site permissions

Trying to nail down an issue.

On our 2013 environment, we talk to two domains to get user profiles.  From what I can see, I can add a user from either domain without incident. (BTW SP servers exist within Domain B)

When I attempt to add user groups to the site... I've seen the following

User Group from Domain A, will resolve in the little window that verifies the name, and can be added

User Group from Domain B, MAY resolve and display its name in the name verification window, but regardless of whether it verifies, when you hit save to add the permission, it doesn't appear in the permission list for the site.

I haven't tried to use any powershell commands yet to add the groups... more interested for the moment in resolving this issue with the gui

Error 401 to Workflow History List

$

I'm looking at the errors in the WFInstanceManagmentDB's DebugTraces table.  I'm trying to understand why I keep getting Event ID's 1000 and 1026 about Workflows crashing.

Looking at the error log it shows many lines like:

Attempt 6 of the HTTP request to 'http://docs/_vti_bin/client.svc/web/lists(guid'99088f68-c8dc-41e8-93f4-b443f3995bb5')/Items' failed with response '401'.

Attempt 2 of the HTTP request to 'http://docs/_vti_bin/client.svc/web/lists(guid'99088f68-c8dc-41e8-93f4-b443f3995bb5')/Items' will be made in 00:00:06.

When I went to the URL 'http://docs/_vti_bin/client.svc/web/lists(guid'99088f68-c8dc-41e8-93f4-b443f3995bb5')/Items' it shows it is the Workflow History list.

I'm thinking maybe it's huge and needs to be trimmed.  Anyone else with this issue?

Workflow tasks being assigned twice

Hi,

I have a standard out of the box approval workflow (2010 approval on SharePoint 2013) that occasionally assigns tasks twice.  It doesn't do it every time so it is really hard to figure out why it does this.  Also, the workflow is not starting twice, as if someone uploaded and then updated the document and triggered the workflow to run again.  Instead the workflow starts once, assigns tasks to people, and then after about two minutes it assigns tasks to that same group of people again.  The end result is two sets of tasks from the same workflow.  The second set of tasks can be completed but the first task assigned gives an error that says:

Sorry, something went wrong

This task is currently locked by a running workflow and cannot be edited.

Do any of you have an idea on why

Cannot access Central Admin after configuration wizard ("Sorry, something went wrong")

The correlation id / ULS log is showing two types of errors:

1)Error initializing Safe control

2) Host   'xxx.xxx.xxx.xxxxt' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server

Here are some things I have tried/tested:

1) I have installed SQL Server Management Studio on the WFE, and I can connect to SQL Server using the login of who is running the SP configuration wizard, and the SP content database has been created on the SQL Server server

2) I have added the central admin site to the trusted sites, and adjusted the custom level so it accepts the current user's credentials, and I have tried setting it to prompting for user's credentials -- neither works.

3) I have turned off the firewall on the SQL Server server and turned it back on -- neither works

Obviously, I am not using a My SQL server server, but rather SQL Server.

Also, during the SP install I had trouble since .net 4.6 was installed.  I had to download something and put "svrsetup.dll" in the updates folder of the installation media.

Any ideas/suggestions/comments/musings welcome.

Export an SPWeb from SharePoint 2010 into SharePoint 2013

Hi folks.

I am hoping that someone can help me out with an issue I am having with exporting and importing an SPWeb from a SharePoint 2013 farm into an SP2010 farm. Basically, we have a SharePoint 2010 farm which we recently upgraded to SharePoint 2013. Our site collections are running in SP2010 compatibility mode on the SP2013 farm and I need to pull back some of sites (Webs) from this environment and restore it to a couple SP2010 development systems.

When I first attempted this, I ran the usual "Export-SPWeb" command from the new SP2013 farm, took my cmp file and copied it over to the SP2010 farm where I attempted to do an Import-SPWeb. I've run into a number of problems doing this, which I've done some googling on and found a number of sites saying that I need to rename the CMP file to a CAB file, extract it and modify some items in the manifest and resource.xml documents. While I was hesitant to do this, I did it anyway and each time I did this I got a little farther with my import, but eventually it fails.

Is there any way to do this "properly"? The idea of having to go in and keep changing and removing things from these files just so I can coax this import a little further each time has me wondering if my end result is even going to be a working site once I've done all these "hacks". Is there no easy way to export an SP2013 Web, in SP2010 compat-mode, into an SP2010 dev environment?

Would appreciate any recommendations here. If I'm just crazy for trying this, let me know and I'll just have to go down another route.

Thanks!

Hi all,

I am using SharePoint Foundation 2013. Whenever a new document is uploaded into SharePoint, I am not getting the search results for this document instantaneously. I had to manually perform a Full Crawl in Central Admin for it to work. Can you please advise how to get the search results without having to manually do a Full Crawl?

Hi,

we were trying to deploying WSP on farm and it is showing some error. when we checked the ULS log we found that distributed cache service was not started.

We have one farm and in this farm have 2 web, 2 app and 1 Database server.  After all configuration server we found that Distributed service is not started on one of the server.  We are trying to start this service manually, but it's giving error showing like " cacheHostInfo is null".  what will be the root cause of this issue.

Appreciate your quick response in advanced.
