I have a sharepoint test farm with two servers: sp01 and sql01. I will like sp01 to connect to a backup server sql02.
My goal is only to get the farm up and running with the sql02 server and have read access to documents in one content db.
Do I have to move all sharepoint databases from sql01 to sql02 or is it possible to get the farm up and running with only moving a small selection of databases, example:
BRT_SP2013_CentralAdminContent
BRT_SP2013_ConfigDB
SharePoint_Content_IT (Content DB)
Hi, all.
I'm planning to apply SQL Server 2012 SP3 to SharePoint Server 2013 SP1.
Does anyone know SQL Server 2012 SP3 is compatibility with SharePoint Server 2013 SP1?
I'd appreciate it if you could answer my question with any reason why.
Thank you.

Hi all,
We are having a very strange issue with SharePoint 2013 newsfeed. The user has reported that dates in news feed posts are mixing languages in the my site host root page. In our environment we have 15 different languages and each user must see all dates formatted correctly by his regional configurations and of course we can't change the regional configuration of the my site host site collection.
After same tests we figured out that day and month names are using my site host regional settings and are formatted by user language preference. All other text in the page is showing user preferred language as you can see in the attached image.
We need to know if this is a product limitations or we are doing something wrong.
Any help is welcome.

Anyone has any idea what can be the error and how to fix it?

Hi there
For SP 2013 - How to show Browse button in Person Field in SharePoint 2013?
Is there any PowerShell command or other way to do this on all of the site collection's Person Fields?
This used to be default behavior in SP 2013.
Thanks.
Hi there
How to disable this automatic email "Getting the most out of SharePoint"?
Thanks.
Hi,
I'm looking to setup Reporting Services - SharePoint and everywhere I've looked is mentions to install it on the application server. Is there any issues with installing it on the web front end server.
Reason I ask is that our application server is also running all of our search stuff and is heavily utilized, whilst our web front end is not using much resources so has plenty to spare.
Our environment has 1 x WFE, 1 x APP, 1 x SQL (SQL Server STD Edition)
Cheers,
Grant.

My SP 2013 Enterprise farm was not a upgrade from 2010 but a new install, when users try to follow any site they get the Socialistnotfound: the social list does not exist in your personal site.
In other posts I have seen this error revolving around upgrading from 2010. This is not the case for me. Anyone have any ideas of where to start to look?
Hi,
I get the following warning in my Dev Central Administration. When I go the servers in the farm through Central Admin, it shows configuration DB as 14.0.4762.1000 but when I get -spfarm.buildversion it returns as Major 15, Minor 0, Build 4779. 1000
I recently got the Dec 2015 CU, dono how my Config DB went back to SP 2010 version. This is a new farm and we did get DB upgraded from 2010 and those are not in compatibility mode, and works fine.
I tried PSConfig.exe -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -force -cmd applicationcontent -install -cmd installfeatures and it fails at step 5 out of 6. stops @ 10% with the following errors.
Unable to create a Service Connection Point in the current Active Directory domain. Verify that the SharePoint container exists in the current domain and that you have rights to write to it.PS Config wizard runs fine on all servers. Can I Unmount and remount the config DB? Will it break my entire farm?
Thanks in advance for the help.
Priya

Hi,
When we activate publishing feature on a site, it is supposed to add 4 new web parts to the site collection.
But in our case it is adding only 1 and 4 from the above list. Have checked ULS and no errors for the other 2 web parts.
And it works fine in our test environment.
Any suggestions/help.
Hello,
I've searched several hours for answer on this topic. I've called several companies about this topic.
The first question:
I have got a customer who installed SharePoint Server 2013. In Central Administration under "Upgrade and Migration" and "Enable Enterprise Features" he enabled the Enterprise Button. His CALs are Standard. So my question is: Is he able to
use Services like Excel Services or Visio Services or Enterprise Search Center?
The second question:
A customer installed SP Server 2013 and did not enable the Enterprise Feature. His CALs are Enterprise. The question again: Is he able to use Services like Excel Services or Visio Services or Enterprise Search Center?
So the general question is: No matter what ther SP Server is (Standard or Enterprise Features), does the functionality depend on the User CAL?
If the answer is yes: Please tell me how the user is able to use the Excel Services or the Enterprise Search Center when the Server (Standard) is not able to provide an Excel Service Application or an Enterprise Search Center?
Hello all,
I am trying to setup the FBA with LDAP on my SharePoint 2013 foundation server using these links:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee806890.aspx
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/spblog/archive/2014/09/26/configure-a-sharepoint-2013-web-application-with-forms-based-authentication-with-a-ldap-membership-provider.aspx
I completed the configuration as per instructions but it is not able to resolve the users from external domain also after new site coll. creation, its showing the error screen when I try to access.
Meanwhile I was checking the ULS logs, there was 1 critical error:
"Cannot get Membership Provider with name <MembershipPorvider>. The membership provider for this process was not properly configured. You must configure the membership provider in the .config file for every SharePoint process."
And several other errors when we try to access the site:

As per the two blogs configuring FBA looks to be pretty straight forward. But might not be.
Please suggest if there are other actions that need to be performed apart from those mentioned in the two blogs.
Thanks!
Regards, Nayan
I am trying to export all the user profile from sharepoint online to a csv file.
i am using a script provided by http://blogs.technet.com/b/fromthefield/archive/2014/02/27/office365-retrieve-user-profiles-using-csom.aspx
The export was successful however i notice certain profiles are missing from the csv file. When i went back to the admin center the profile do exist. Any idea why does the script not export all the user profiles.

Hi all,
I upgraded from SharePoint 2010 and initially running in 2010 mode (Site Collections).
For most of the Web Applications the Site Collections can be upgraded to 2013 without any issues.
However, there is one Web Application that fails for all Site Collections.
For some reason they all point to the following location:
url not in mainXslFolderPath: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\template\layouts\15\xsl\vwstyles.xsl
I know that everything SHOULD be point to the 15 hive, not a folder called 15 within the 14 hive.
It's not just the file vwstyles.xsl, but everything that should be point to the 15 hive.
Has anyone come across this before? I've search high and low across the web and can't find anything related.
Kind Regards,
Grant.
Error message:
What am I missing?
Environment: One SharePoint Server, one SQL, One workflow Server.
In a domain.
I setup workflow manager and installed the client. I connected from the workflow manager server to SQL using SSL
I wanted to do a test before configuring the SharePoint farm with the workflow farm. I followed the instructions in the video here:https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn201724.aspx
They want to ensure you can access your SharePoint site and the workflow site before paring. I can get to the SharePoint site but when I'm on the workflow server I brought up IE 11 and went to the workflow URL,https://wf.domain.local and I received a logon box. I followed the example in the video by placing the WF URL in the local Intranet trusted sites of IE but that did not work. Still got the logon box. The account I used was the same account used for the application pool (domain account).
My setup on the WF server in IIS for authentication is Anonymous and Windows Authentication are enabled.
More info about bindings. There are two bindings:
https, no host name, port 12290, * IP address
https, wf.domain.local port 12290 local IP of the server
URL I'm using to connect is https://wf.domain.local:12290
