SharePoint Excel Service - Issue when opening excel in browser window

Hi,

We want to open excel document on web browser. We have created Excel Service application on SharePoint 2013 Farm. 

Some of the documents in SharePoint Library are opening properly but for few excel work book we are getting following error



When looked in the SharePoint logs, I found below exception:

ServerSession.ProcessServerSessionException: An exception during ExecuteWebMethod has occurred for server: http://<excel service url>/ExcelService*.asmx

 method: OpenWorkbook

 ex: Microsoft.Office.Excel.Server.CalculationServer.Proxy.ServerSessionException: The workbook cannot be opened..

EwaState.OpenWorkbookAndUpdateState: errors occurred while trying to open the workbook

 [MessageId: Ewr_GenericFileOpenError

 MessageIdHash: 636637258] 

Kindly help, if anyone has gone through similar problem and have resolved it.

Analytics in a Cross Site Publishing Environment

Hey,

we have an intranet based on SharePoint 2013 (On Premise) and Cross Site Publishing/Term based Navigation. Currently we are evaluating our possibilities to track unique visitors and page visits. As far as i can see, the generated pages will not be tracked in the usage logging database, which leads to my question:

Which possibilities do we have to track these things in such an architecture?

  • Is there a native way? With customization?
  • IIS Logs?
  • Third Party Tools?

Do you have any recommendations or experiences to share?

TFS Upgrade 2013 to 2015 Web Part Error

Hi,

I have configured TFS 2015 with SharePoint 2013. on SharePoint site i am getting following error on webparts. Pls guide what could be an issue and how to fix it.

Web Part Error: A Web Part or Web Form Control on this Page cannot be displayed or imported. The type Microsoft.TeamFoundation.WebAccess.WebParts.WorkItemSummaryWebPart, Microsoft.TeamFoundation.WebAccess.WebParts, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a could not be found or it is not registered as safe. Correlation ID: 647a5b9d-e90e-2029-7ae7-2c0a7787ff8a.

Can not access sharepoint 2013 401 unauthorized error

Hello everyone. I wasonall forums and found onlyone solutionto this problem:
  1. Navigate to the SharePoint Server 2013 Central Administration site
  2. Select System Settings from the navigation pane.
  3. Under Farm Management, select the Configure alternate access mappings.
  4. Under Alternate Access Mapping Collection, select add internal URL's 
  5. URL: http://sharepoint.yourdomain.com:80
    Zone: Intranet
  6. Save
  7. Done!!!! :)

Last run time for a timer job named "Information management policy" is showing “N/A”

I want to run a timer job named "Information management policy", so i went to job definition under my central administration, and i click on "run now" button, but i get "N/A" under the last run time as follow:-

 

now i try this powershell command to run the timer job, which did not raise any error, but still the Last Run Time = N/A

    PS C:\Windows\system32> Get-SPTimerJob Information-management-policy | Start-SPTimerJob

I also checked the "Job History" and i can not find any entry (either succeed or failed) regarding "Information management policy"? so can anyone adivce on this please?

other timer jobs a functioning well for example the "Application Server Timer Job " is working well as follow:-

Hello! 

After start a Sync conversion to create a PDF froma a DOCX file, I've received Error Code 10.

After log analysis (With Verbose enabled) I get the following behaviour:

Theese events running in a aparently loop for a while:

So before error code 10 exception that loop stops, and the following was shown:

I'm using a Sharepoint Server 2013 with SP1 running over a Windows Server 2012 R2 server. Sharepoint is configurated with Kerberos Authentication.

What's the cause of error code 10?

The same code runs normally at a Standalone server running at a Virtual Machine, but in the farm, does not go well.

I'll apreciate some help.

Search high CPU

we have just set up a new SP2013 farm (SP1) that includes 4 search servers (we also have WFE, App and DB servers)

2 of these servers are running the query and index components (only)

2 of these servers are running crawling, processing, admin, analytics (and web role)

These 4 servers have 8 CPUs and 16GBs RAM.

When running a full crawl on a web application with less than 500K records the CPU on the index component goes to a 100% and there is no CPU for the Query to operate

Is this normal? If not what could be causing the CPU spike

We have SharePoint 2013 Production farm which is SharePoint Server 2013 SP1 with June 2014 CU. and build version is 15.0.4617.1000.

We need to know if we can directly Patch SharePoint January 2016 CUs on the SharePoint farm.

"Full permissions" user gets permissions denied on Site Permissions page

Hi there

"Full permissions" user gets permissions denied on Site Permissions page. 
(Though he can see Site Settings page)

I tried removing him and then adding him back - but he still cannot see Permissions page on the site. 

Any clues?

Hi All,

I have done installation of updates & patches on SharePoint 2013 WFE server, afterwards while executing PSConfig wizard. I encountered with the below error at Task number 2

An exception of type System.MemberAccessException was thrown.  

Additional exception information: Cannot create an instance of System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary`2
[Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPUrlZone,System.Collections.Generic.List`1[T]] because Type.ContainsGenericParameters is true.

Configuration database version:15.0.4787.1000
Steps taken

1) Clear cache config files

2) Run PS-Config from UI- failed

3) run PS-Config from PowerShell with below command

 PSConfig.exe -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -force -cmd applicationcontent -install -cmd installfeatures 


below updates has been installed in the WFE server


Security Update for Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2013 (KB3085582)  
Security Update for Microsoft SharePoint Enterprise Server (KB3085567) 
Security Update for Microsoft SharePoint Enterprise Server (KB3085568) 
.
.
.
Update for Microsoft SharePoint Enterprise Server 2013 (KB2920730) 


Please provide any solution for the same.

Changing the Alert email message TEXT in SharePoint 2013

I have been scouring the internet for days looking for the answer to my question and so far nothing has been helpful. All I have found has been related to changing the XML template, not changing the physical text of the email; the message itself that is emailed. 

The current message appears like this: 

Jane Doe has subscribed you for alert LandingPage.aspx on Communications.

You will receive alerts according to the delivery method, timing and criteria that were selected when the alert was created.

You can change this alert or any of your other alerts on the My Alerts on this Site page.


Is there anyway just to change the wording of this message. I don't want to change the CSS styles, or the structure of the alert. Just the wording.

Managed Navigation menu item disappers on WFE server when updating its associated term-driven page

On my company's public-facing anonymous sharepoint website, I am experiencing a problem related to the Managed Navigation from time to time. Sometimes when I update the term-driven page associated with a managed navigation menu item, the menu item will disappear after completed the normal web page publishing process.

We have a sharepoint farm (Configuration database version 15.0.4727.1000) consisting of 2 WFE and 2 App servers, we redirected all traffics from public access to fall on the WFE servers only.

When this happens, I have to restart the IIS WWW service on the WFE server and it is the only way to recover the problem. It seems to be an internal communication problem between software components.

Does anyone experience this kind of problem? Any clue to resolve or troubleshoot it?

Migrate Sharepoint 2013 from one farm to another

Hi everyone,

Is there a way to migrate data from one Sharepoint farm to another?

I have a limping SharePoint 2013 farm that barely works.  We've had numerous consultants working on this farm.  Some servers are incorrectly setup ie SQL installed on the application servers, application services running on every server and causing services to keep on crashing.  I figure it's probably better to start off fresh, build a new simple farm to start and migrate the data from the current farm to it.  Has anyone done this?  Any guidance would be appreciated.  Thank you.

SSRS scrolling

When the user runs the report from the Report Server the user can's scroll down to page 2 or page 3 etc. Is there a setting I can change so the user will be able to scroll un-limited without paging
