View with less items than Threshhold triggers threshhold warning

Got a head scratcher here. I'm using SharePoint 2013. I have a list with 7500 items. My Threshhold for users and administrators is set to 7000. I bumped the Admin threshhold down from 20K to troubleshoot. I have indexed the Modified and Created dates which I am using and also a couple of others which aren't being used for these troublesome views.

I have one view called Completed 90+ Days which uses the filter Modified  > [Today]-90 AND Non-Indexed Column = 5. This view returns 2,487 items successfully to both admin and non admin user.

I have a second view called Completed 90- Days which uses the filter Modified  < [Today]-90 AND Non-Indexed Column = 5. This view returns 40 items successfully to both admin and non admin user.

I have a thirdview called All Completed which uses the filter Modified  < [Today]-90 OR Modified  > [Today]-90 AND Non-Indexed Column = 5. This view returns 2487 items successfully to the admin but not to the non admin user.  I realize this is something of a hack but I was not able to return a view with only 'Non-Indexed Column = 5', which makes sense, if I get how this mechanism works (which isquestionable!), since the initial query would pull all 7500 items thereby exceeding the threshhold.

The non admin user gets the view exceeds thresshold of 7000 but the admin/audiotr sees results. This too shouldn't happen since I set them both the same.

If my first filter returns less than the thresshold and my second filter also returns less than the threshhold and the third filter has no impact on the success of the first 2 views why can the All Completed Display? If I remove the non-Indexed filter I still get results albeit more (6600..still less than the threshhold).

My threshhold is 7000 and the view is returning much less than that. Neither of the filters returns more than 7000 before the other filter takes effect so I'm stumped. Ideas?

App Catalog issue

i have a web application. internally it is http://www.domain.net(www as host header) and web application is extended to intranet zone with ssl enabled (https://intranet.domain.com). i configred app catalog but i can only access those apps from http://www.domain.net. if i try to access the app from https://intranet.domain.com i get blank page with url (https://app.2842698249.domainapps.com....). If i change the https to http in the url i am able to get into the app. Am i doing something wrong?

Hello all,

I am working on a mysite site in SharePoint 2013. All configurations have been put in place and I can access the mysite site with no issue. However, when I try to add a new site in mysite I get the following message.

Error: Site creation cannot continue because of a configuration issue with the parent site

Has anyone seen this issue before? If so, how did you fix the issue?

OS: windows 2012 R2 Standard
Sharepoint 2013

Cant Add a new server to the Farm

Hi,

In my Sharepoint 2013 Foundation - farm scenario I had 2 WFEs and 1 APP server. I had removed one of my WFE(Server-C) from the farm for some maintenance, re-installed its OS. Now I did a fresh sharepoint installation on it and when I try to add it to the farm by running the "Configuration Wizard " its shows some of the updates are missing(KB3039703). Well the mentioned update is for "Sharepoint Server 2013(KB3039703)". I am not sure how this got installed in my other two server(APP & 1WFE), somehow this update is installed on my other servers in the Farm

I tried manually installing this update KB3039703 on my WFE(SERVER-C) but i couldnt as this is intended for Sharepoint Server, Is there any way to add my third server to the Farm. Please help.

We published our web application to internet and it is publishing featureless enabled.

i edited the compact.browser file in this path

from: <capability name="isMobileDevice" value="true" />

to : <capability name="isMobileDevice" value="false" />

in: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\<web application>\App_Browser\compat.browser

in Android version it working fine but in IPHONE and safari browsers in IPHONE some pages asking authentication .

where we added below code in some sharepoint pages

OneDrive for Business

I have two questions in relation to OneDrive for Business under my Office 365 Business Premium Subscription:

1) I am unable to change my default save file location to OneDrive for Business. When I tried to change the default location where to to save my files, I will see "this computer," "OneDrive," but no "OneDrive for Business." Why is that? I have an Office 365 Premium with 1TB of storage on OneDrive for Business whereas OneDrive is only 15GB. Is there a setting that is required?

2) I have OneDrive for Business (for work) and OneDrive (for home). My computer has two user log-ins, both are under my name, but different email addresses. When I sign-in using my work account, I am unable to share folders in my OneDrive for Business to my OneDrive. I can share the folder to anyone else except myself. Why is that? For example, I have OneDrive for Business under my.name@company.com and I want to share with my.name@hotmail.com, but it would not allow me.

User Profile Synchronization issues for updating selected AD containers

I am using sharepoint server 2013.

I am not able to update the selected containers for the synchronization connection.  I just opened the edit connection 

page, enter the synchronization account password and click Populate Containers, scroll down and unselect a currently 

selected container and click OK.  The system showing the change is saved but if I go back to the edit page and load up the 

containers, the one I just unselected is still selected.  So I currently can't make any modifications to the selected 

containers which seems to be an application error or browser issue.

I just tried different browser like chrome and  I've tried three different machines to make the change but no luck.

My Sharepoint server 2013 Version is : 15.0.4420.1017

I didnt update service pack 1 and later cumulative update.

Should i update service pack 1 and latest update. Could you please help me out on this..

SharePoint 2013 Reporting Service Application in SQL High Availability mode

Hi,

We have a SharePoint farm which has two database servers with SQL High Availability AlwaysOn group. Farm has two WFE and two App servers as well. 

We have several service applications including Reporting Services Application.

When the farm was provisioned initially, Reporting Serivice DB wasn't added to SQL HA AlwaysOn group. Therefore when a SQL Fail-over happens all reports are not working. 

We've added the Reporting Service Application DB shown in the Central Admin to the SQL HA AlwaysOn group, but the problem still persists. 

Is what I'm doing make sense? Or are there additional steps / databases needs to be considering when making the Reporting Service Application related DBs in SQL HA Always group?

i want to have the ability to send email to a list inside SharePoint 2013. so i tried accessing my custom list setting but under the communication section i did not find any link :-

so i went to my central administration >> system settings >> In-comming email setting, but i got the following error :-

so can anyone adivce how i can fix this error ?

second question . now i do understand that the "incommin email display name" is used to define the email address that we will be sending emails to ,, but what does the E-Mail Drop Folder  represents ?

Child workflows

Hello,

I have created a number of workflows but I am having an issue getting a SharePoint 2013 workflow to start child workflows. what I am trying to do is:

The workflow that fails is (only the first section is shown):

This fails in stage 2. When it has renamed the file, the workflow has a status of Cancelled.

Draft Item Security - Author not able to see items?

Hi, using SharePoint 2013 latest build (as time of writing)... We have a document library with version control enabled, and draft item security set as "Only users who can approve items (and the author of the item)".

UserA is a Contributor

UserB has Full Control.

UserA uploads/created a document in the library - can see it etc and it is at 0.1 version - all good.

UserB reviews the document and approves/publishes it - version 1.0 available and both UserA and UserB can see it - all good.

UserB realizes they made a mistake to publish it so chooses the option to 'Unpublish this version'.

UserA is still the author but is no longer is able to see the document? And that's the issue we have. It looks like the bit in brackets of 'and the author of the item' isnt actually doing what it should, or am I being really silly here?

Unable to save SharePoint 2013 workflows

Hello,

I have been using SharePoint Designer 2013 to create workflows for SharePoint Online lists (SPD2013 is the only tool available to me). Any workflow I create, using the SharePoint 2013 platform type, fails to save. That goes for site and list workflows. I press Save, and SPD goes through the motions of saving, but when it's finished, the asterisk remains on the workflow tab -telling me that no save occurred.  When I press Publish, SPD once again, tries to save the workflow, with the same results. After attempting to save, if I close the workflow, I am prompted to save it again. Checking the associated list, confirms that no save or publish took place. I ended up losing all of my work.

No errors are ever returned.

This problem does not occur when I use the SharePoint 2010 platform type. 

Has anyone else encountered this, or know of fix?

Content DB is not changing in size in SQL after site collections were moved to another Content DB

Hi,

I migrated a site collection from Content DB 1 to Content DB 2 but the size of the original DB is not reducing in size.

I checked all the settings and the site collection is using the new Content DB 2.

What can I Do?

Content DB 1 before and after migration is 110 GB.

Content DB 2 after migration is 70 GB.

Office files not opening after VisualUpgrade to 2013 (URL has ms-word:ofv|u| in them)

We have had SharePoint site collecstions in our 2013 farm running in 2010 mode for about a year, we ran the VisualUpgrade on a few as we will be upgrading them to 2013 mode, but after doing so, the office files do not open now

Error: File cannot be found and URL has ms-word:ofv|u| before the document URL.

I did some searching and all the answers deal with having office 2010/ 2013 needing to be repaired on the client.  But this is not the case.  Documents open fine on other sites still in 2010 mode and files open fine on our sites in 2013 mode, it just seems to be occuring with the sites that WERE on 2010 mode and that we are running Upgrade-SPSite $siteUrl –VersionUpgrade on

Any thoughts?

we have to Plan for upgrade SharePoint 2013 October 2015 Cumulative Updates.
