add new item error in custom solutions after sharepoint 2013 SP1 Upgrade

we had 3 servers farm, 1 app and 2 wfe servers, after sharepoint 2013 sp1 all our custom solution workflows are not working up on submitting the request. add new item code is throwing error after upgrading to sp1. please find link of errors raised in even viewer and in application. Please send the reply ASAP as we are facing problem on production server.

Access External List with SharePoint 2013 Workflow

In a SP 2010 designer workflow you could access/update an SQL table using an External List (ECT).

When I attempt to do the same thing in an SP 2013 workflow the External Lists don't show up in the Data Source drop down. Steps:

  1. Create a test SQL table
  2. Using SP Designer 2013, create an External Content Type with all operations (Create, Read Item...)
  3. Create an External List from the test ECT
  4. Using SP Designer 2013 create a list workflow (against a standard SP list i.e. a task list)
  5. Add a Create item or Update item action
  6. Click 'this list' and look for the External List using the List drop down
  7. Issue: the External List is not in the List drop down

I can't find any references to this feature being deprecated in 2013.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Logical Architecture of SharePoint Farm -- Security Issue

Hello Dears,

Actually , i have a question about Logical Architecture of SharePoint Farm ,  my topology design consists of 3 tiers ( Front Serves - Application Servers - DB Servers ) , As you know we need to run "Windows SharePoint Services Web Application" Service  on web front servers, Also As you know there is a connection between Web Front Servers and DB servers  , there was a discussion between SharePoint Team and security team in our organization about direct connection between Front Serves and DBSerervs,the question is why there should be a direct connection between Front Servers and DB Servers and the connection supposed to be like ( From Front Servers to Application Servers - From Application Servers to DB Servers ) ??

 SharePoint way of connection it is not secure ? what are the benefits of applying multi tier approach and SharePoint doesn't apply security and  SharePoint directly Connect to DB servers from front without passing through Application servers ??

i am talking about "Windows SharePoint Services Web Application " Service , i know sharepoint uses application server with other services like excel , search, ....

i am waiting your replies ...

High CPU and Memory Usage - IIS Worker Process

Hi,

I have a SharePoint 2013 Production environment which has been running fine and suddenly this morning, w3wp.exe (IIS worker process) is consuming High memory and High CPU.

Checking through IIS, it turns out that one of Application pool is the cause and is using 94% CPU. This is our main Portal site.

After resetting IIS, CPU and memory creeps back to high usage.

How can I diagnose what is causing this issue?

Script for Bulk Check-In of Documents

Does anyone have a script for Bulk Check-In of documents within a set of SharePoint Document Libraries.

I set the Check-In Check-Out when I first set up the Libraries and this did not work out for us and so Disabled the Check-Out which has left a huge number of files Checked-Out.  None of these files have actually been Checked-Out by anyone but show as Checked-Out.

Now they do not appear in Lists for other users so Need to do a Bulk Check-In.

We deployed bi dashboards in our web application using the performance point service with SSAS and it enable anonymous access for users without login they can view reports

i implemented below workaround mentioned in this article

why it asking authentication and how to export report to excel ?

Owner of site can't see list of permissions when using the Share dialog

Hi,

We have a flat Sharepoint structure with a site created from a template using the standard/default permissiongroups( Members, visitors and Owners as Sharepoint groups). I have shared the site with permission set "Owner" to a user.

When that user logs in and share the site, he can't se the "list of permissions"(Show options in the bottom of the dialog) - just a dropdown list on right with "edit, read". Why is that? I wan't him to see the SharePoint groups "members, owners, visitors".

When I check the ownership of the groups, they are owned by the group "owners".

We have one special case on the site, on the website-pages-library I have removed inheritance, and made the Members-group read-only, so that they can't add/edit pages.

Please help :-)

Hello,

I have been working on the default alerts on our SharePoint 2013 site after migrating from 2007 (moss). I ran a script (see below) to change the URL of the links in the alert template however it is still not using the correct URL. At this point I can't seem to pin point how to fix this. Any help would be much appreciated, the Url's that are still incorrect are when the email alert fires off when an item is added or deleted from a list that has a end user alert on it.

Hello everybody, my scenario is:

1 app SharePoint 2013 EE and windows server 2012 R2 Datacenter

1 wfe SharePoint 2013 EE and server windows server 2012 R2 Datacenter

1 SQL Server with SQL Server 2008 R2 SP3 and windows server 2012 R2 Datacenter

Multi languages: English, Spanish and Portuguese.

I did defined 3 variations sites from english main site:

Main Site

Label: en-CA

Locale: english (Canada)

Spanish (Colombia)

Label: es-CO

Locale: spanish (Colombia)

Spanish (Peru)

Label: es-PE

Locale: spanish (Peru)

Portuguese (Brazil)

Label: pt-BR

Locale: portuguese (Brazil)

I did created a Manage Metadata service application (Metadata as your name) and one group (Menu as your name) to use it like a menu navigation. I did included 3 languages into the Metadata proxy (English, Portuguese (Brazil) and Spanish) in the Term Store Management Tool. I did created a term set (GenralNavigation as your name) and I selected the box "Term set for Site navigation" and Available for Tagging in Intended use tab.

After, I created a multiples terms, in the termset GeneralNAvigation above, defining your use into the navigation (Global navigation or Current Navigation) and I created a label for this term in each language (english, spanish and portuguese) for each one of them.

The problem is when I going to use that term set into the navigation in each one variation site, the multilanguage doesn't work. It Always show the navigation in english language and I need to show the navigation in each language.

Somebody help me?

Remove disabled SSRS instance from WFE

We recently installed SSRS SharePoint Mode on our SP 2013 enterpries farm and an attempt was made to start the service on the WFE rather than the dedicated SSRS box where it was all installed. The service did start successfully on the ssrs box and reports have been getting delivered. The Services on Server for the WFE shows 'error starting' for the SQL Server Reporting Services Service and it shows as started on the correct server. When I run:

get-spserviceinstance -all |where {$_.TypeName -like "SQL Server Reporting*"}

I get two results one is enabled and one is disabled. I would like to remove the disabled one but am not sure how to do this for ssrs. The reason I would like to remove it is because when I go into 'Manage' and click 'System Settings' for the SSRS service instance I get an error (An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. ---> Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.InternalCatalogException: An internal error occurred on the report server.).

I've a hunch that removing the disabled servicewon't resolve this issue on its own and that other steps may be required but I'm not sure how to proceed.

Redirector Sessions Hung is High

Not sure if this error is being caused by SharePoint or Windows server yet. I am not I am looking for troubleshooting tips to narrow down on what is causing my Monitoring software to report "Redirector Sessions Hung is High". Every post based on this error ends without resolution or explanation. Some of my servers report 10 - 20 Sessions hung and others report upwards of 10000 hung sessions. Servers seem to be functioning well, not sure what effect the hung sessions have on the environment.

Hi,

We have created a SharePoint online library and enabled IRM for the Library. We have given access for a file to a user. When we try to access the file using word online using the user account it opens without any issue. But When we try to download the file and open it from Local computer Office Word, it always says "you do not have credentials that allow you to open this document.You can request updated permission from ... Do you want to request updated permission".

We have verified the user is logged on to the computer using the same user account and Office Word is logged on as well. Also we have verified the user has permission for the file from SharePoint Online. But it still asks for permission even though the user has full permission for the file. Someone kindly help

File Not Found - default.aspx in Subsites - Migration Issue - Sharepoint 2013

Hi,

We recently did a migration from TFS Sharepoint 2007 to Sharepoint 2013:

Situation:

-> We had a content Database with "/" Root Site collection in SP 2013 (Already)

-> We attached a content Database from Sharepoint 2007( passed through SP 2010) with the "/" root Site collection in SP 2013

Changes:

-> As we had same "/" root site collection in both the Content Databases, We did mount of SP2007 Content DB( has lot more content) first and then we added  content DB with the "/" root site collection already in SP 2013.

-> As we did this, We lost "/" root site collection in SP2013 from the Content DB already available in SP 2013

Issue:(Receiving 404 Not found when trying to access Subsites Home page)

-> default.aspx from the subsites is not available in the Subistes of the Site collection from the Content DB(exist already) and we are getting 404 "File Not Found" when try to access the sub site home page. All Site contents are available.

Causes:

-> As the "/" root site collection disappeared as the "/" root site collection was already attached to the web application.

-> Due to which, It is not able to access default.aspx

Please suggest me with your inputs. Hope some one must have gone through the issue before.

User Profile Service Application - Feed Cache Repopulation job: Unexpected exception in FeedCacheService.IsRepopulationNeeded

The timer job User Profile Service Application - Feed Cache Repopulation job fails two/three times a day but succeeds mostly

The timer job runs every 5 minutes. The error is also logged in the Event Viewer, Event ID 6398.Description: The Execute method of job definition Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.LMTRepopulationJob

The error appears with two kind of messages:

  • Unexpected exception in FeedCacheService.IsRepopulationNeeded: Connection to the server terminated,check if the cache host(s) is running.
  • Unexpected exception in FeedCacheService.IsRepopulationNeeded: Cache cluster is down, restart the cache cluster and Retry,Failed timer jobs occur one or more times in a day, expected that timer job succeeds all the time.
The issue is present since the configuration of the SharePoint Farms and appears atleast twice every day in all Sharepoint 2013 farms.

Hi All

We have recently migrated user profile service application from production to QA environment using database attach/detach method. It is working fine. However the links stored in thumbnails for photos for user profile are still pointing to production. Can anyone please point me to any SQL level script, using which we can correct the thumbnails link.

How to download Office document from Content Query Web Part link?

I have a content query web part on anonymous site which shows word documents from a document library. But when I click the links, a login window prompts and By pressing Cancel the document opens in Office client.

How can the content query to be set so that links will prompt download of the document?
