Site collection admins removed on all MySites after patching SharePoint

We just applied SP1 and the Oct 2015 CU to our production farm, and noticed that all users were removed from the site collection administrators group on the MySites. All non-MySites, such as team sites, are fine. There is nothing in the ULS logs or upgrade logs on why this happened. it did not happen in our testing environments. Has anyone seen this issue before? 

I wrote a script to just add the users back into the site collection admin group, but the owners want an explanation as to why this happened.

I Deploy sharepoint on 3 servers,one for sql,two for sharepoint server.

Server sps1 has the main farm and 80web sites ,and Server sp2 has the 80web sites.The curious thing is when I closed sps2 and keep sps1 running ,the excel services have problem just like following pic1;When I closed sps1 and keep sps2  running ,It's OK just like pic2,why?

Anonymous user authentication issue when export BI reports to Excel for anonymous user without login to BI Site in sharepoint 2013.

HI

We deployed bi dashboards in our web application using the performance point service with SSAS and it enable anonymous access for users without login they can view reports

i implemented below workaround mentioned in this article

but when anonymous user trying to export it ask authentication ,

why it asking authentication and how to export report to excel ?

I create a workflow in share point designer 2013 for task % completion column but the problem is this that the designer get value in decimal.how we get value in real number.please help.

when i got the email then the % Complete show in decimal points

  1. Task Percentage Completion :0.99 except 99

Migration Search or create a new one

The central admin application was initially created on a web front end server.  The search service and topology by default were created on the web front end server.

Now we moved the central admin to the application server. should we move search topology to the application server or simply recreate a new search service?  Thanks.

Sharepoint Search service 2013 - no search results.

I'm trying to configure search service on foundation sharepoint 2013, service search , crawler, database everything works as expected. Now search results works only when using direct site https://mysitename/ sites/search/default.aspx but when using search on main sharepoint site then there is no search results at all. How to fix it?

Multiple Web Front End Servers, Load Balance with Host Named Site Collection Setup Issue

I've 2 WFE and 2 APP Servers.   The WFE names are like  SPWFE01, SPWFE02

I deployed the Farm using AutoSPInstall. I'm going by the model of Host Named Site Collection.

I've 2 Web Application:

 

http://SPWFE01/      Port:80  - no host headers  (This would be used to have all the HNSC likehttp://portal.company.com, http://marketing.company.com, etc)

http://SPEWFE01:8080  (used for MySites) I'm using Managed Path (personal) herehttp://SPEWFE01:8080/personal/

I've enabled the SharePoint Foundation Service on both SPWFE01, SPWFE02

Now when I try to get to http://SPWFE01, I'm able to get to root site. But when I tryhttp://SPWFE02, I'm not able to get to the site. I get an error.

But when I try to get to following URL I get to it:

http://SPWFE02/_layouts/15/settings.aspx , it shows an error on top saying: 

 

Error loading navigation: The Web application athttp://spwfe02 could not be found. Verify that you have typed the URL correctly. If the URL should be serving existing content, the system administrator may need to add a new request URL mapping to the intended application. (Correlation ID: c0c2459d-0e19-b018-6c61-f20c87691b61)

Can someone let me know how to approach this and load balance it. I'm not sure if I should be creating the web application with the server name url ie:http://SPWFE01

Remove Workflow Scope

Hi All,

I run the command Remove-WFscope

and then i tried using the recovery method to restore the scope

using Restore-WFScope but when i run that i get error " Erro restoring service bus topic, the topic may exist and should be deleted before restore"

so any idea how to resolve that to be able to restore the scope?

September CU 2015 patches (SharePoint Project Server 2013) did not installed Update for Microsoft Project Server 2013 (KB2986195) 64-Bit Edition.

I downloaded patch from following location :  http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49099

Configuration wizard is failing .

Please let me know how to solve this issue ?

SharePoint 2013 site - Total SQL Duration is too high at 10-12 seconds - how to reduce this please?

Hi there

Our SP 2010 site was pretty fast (Total SQL Duration was half second or less) - we upgraded it to SP 2013 (better hardware). 

Now on SharePoint 2013 site - Total SQL Duration is too high at 10-12 seconds - how to reduce this please? This is causing site to load very slowly.

SP and SQL Servers are all good, more than enough RAM and CPU.

Any help will be appreciated.

Timer Jobs are not running on SharePoint servers

All,

    I have a four server 2013 test farm that I've been upgrading and documenting SharePoint 2010 databases on. There are two WFEs and two APP servers. The APP servers are not running any timer jobs at all. In Central Admin, under timer job history for these servers, there is no history. Here is what I tried so far.

The only thing I'm seeing in ULS logs is this: Performance Counter OS (pdh) call failed with error code PDH_INVALID_DATA.

Any thoughts will be appreciated.

IE Add On SharePoint DragDownload Control missing

Hi,

I am facing a rather weird issue. Some Information on our Systems:

SharePoint 2013 Enterprise on premise

IE11

Office 2010

Some of our SharePoint Users cannot drag and drop documents from libraries into mails (Outlook).

I found out, that the IE Add On "SharePoint DragDownload Control" is completely missing as Add on and can therefore not be enabled. From previous articles I learned that this Add-On should automatically be there if you have IE 10 or higher.

How can I get to this Add On?

Both same except the last 4 digits! In email link, it is 1352; but in actual it is 1428.

The issue is only for notifications from my-site. Intranet site news feed notifications are working as expected.

Hello,

I am trying to create an overlay of a ITS Calendar, I cannot seem to figure out. I know I have the Exchange portion correct, but how or what do I put in the Outlook Web Access URL? Also, it does not automatically fill in the Outlook Web Access URL when I put the Exchange one in too. Is that bad?

I just finished an implementation of SharePoint 2013 using host-named sites. The sites authenticate and open correctly, but anytime I try to do anything I end up with the following error: "An error occurred while processing the request on the server. The status code returned from the server was: 0". I have checked and the web application IIS site has anonymous permission enabled.

This is hampering our ability to use our new sites. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Owner of site can't see list of permissions when using the Share dialog

Hi,

We have a flat Sharepoint structure with a site created from a template using the standard/default permissiongroups( Members, visitors and Owners as Sharepoint groups). I have shared the site with permission set "Owner" to a user.

When that user logs in and share the site, he can't se the "list of permissions"(Show options in the bottom of the dialog) - just a dropdown list on right with "edit, read". Why is that? I wan't him to see the SharePoint groups "members, owners, visitors".

When I check the ownership of the groups, they are owned by the group "owners".

We have one special case on the site, on the website-pages-library I have removed inheritance, and made the Members-group read-only, so that they can't add/edit pages.

Please help :-)
