Hi there,
On my SP 2013 server - NetBIOSDomainNamesEnabled was set to False.
I changed it to True.
Now - Do I have to recreate Sync Connection? Or recreate UPA? Or just start Full Sync?
Thanks a lot.

Hello,
When I attempt to preform a backup through Central Administration it gives me the error of
Object WSS_Content_31dc72a8afec43d3b9b3c51d7f4adac5 failed in event OnBackup. For more information, see the spbackup.log or sprestore.log file located in the backup directory.
SqlException: Cannot open backup device 'C:\Backup Tests\spbr0000\00000107.bak'. Operating system error 3(The system cannot find the path specified.).
BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally.
What should I be looking for in these files when I look in them?

Hi there,
Users with contribute access were able to use Open with Explorer button in SP 2010. We just upgraded our site - and these users see this on Open with Explorer button now.
Any idea how to fix this please?
Thanks.
Hi,
I am having a SharePoint environment, where lots of wsp files are deployed in server.
I need to find deployed wsp files deployment mode, i.e. debug / release mode.
How to find dll / wsp is deployed in debug / release mode?
Anandhan.S Remember to 'mark or propose as answer' or 'vote as helpful' as appropriate.
I found many posts that talk about Excel and SharePoint Sync. But how about Excel sync with Office 365.
One blogs says,
"Changes made in the SharePoint list can be written to the spreadsheet program, but any changes that you make in the spreadsheet program are not written to the SharePoint list."
My goal is to create several spreadsheets. The Excel sheet will have content, Charts, Graphs that need to show in SharePoint just like they display in Excel.
Thanks!

I am installing the July 2015 CU on a SharePoint 2013 -4 server farm that was at Service Pack 1.
The installation of the CU bits went smoothly (but took a very long time -what's new). The Configuration wizard completed on the two web front end servers and on one of the application servers. The issue is that one of the application servers will not complete the psconfig successfully.
I get the following error in the log file:
I have tried clearing the configuration cache on this server and running Psconfig.exe -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -wait -force
No luck in running the spconfig on this server. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Dan

We have migrated the content from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013. After migration,
ISSUE#1
when user click on any pdf document It either gets open in browser or in Office Web App without prompting the user for 'Read Only' or cation.
While in SP2010, user gets option for 'Read Only' or 'Edit' mode and hence they are able to edit in local client application.
ISSUE#2
If user opens pdf document (having attahced pdf documents within) in Office web app, User can not open atatched docuemnt within it. Where as in local client, the attached pdf files are opening fine.
I have been seeing following error in Event Viewer of one of the Web Front End servers. I have no clue to what it is referencing to:
Event manager error: Could not load file or assembly '14_0_0_0_Varonis.EventHandlerAuditor-5_9_61_25, Version=5.9.61.25, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b90780cbee1df1b6' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
I want to disable the standard email alert that is sent out to the assigned to of a task.
This is a standard task list not a workflow task list so there is no "send email when ownership assigned" in advanced settings.
When I go to alerts on the task list their are no alerts.
I do not want to turn off all alerts in central administration because I do want other alerts to function.
I will attach a image of the alert and and image of the empty manage alerts section to prove that i dont have any alerts set up.
Hello,
It's been a week now since i'm facing this issue. Whenever i try to create a new service application or web application on a fresh staging VM then it throws the same 'Request timed out' error. I've increased the Ping Period, Shutdown time limit and Startup time limit under Central Admin's App Pool. Removed everything and tried created again. Replaced with the new app server. All goes in vain.
There is a physical server which has 2 VMs. One for DB and the one for App/WFE. 14 GB assigned to both VMs. No space issue. Server seems pretty fine with usage doesn't go above 20%.
Any idea? Please help.
Thanks!

Hi there
Users from trusted forest suddenly cannot login - nor can I find them in People Picker - Until yesterday everything was fine.
Users from our main domain are fine though.
Any thoughts?
Thanks so much.
I am looking to build out a three tier SharePoint 2013 farm for the purpose of an Extranet. Our architecture team has proposed the following topology:
Three separate DMZs, each with an AD controller and the DMZs/domains have no trust between them. The proposal is for the SharePoint web front end server to be in one DMZ, the SharePoint application server to live in a second DMZ and SQL Server hosting the SharePoint databases to live in the third DMZ. My question is, is this a supported topology? If so, could you provide some guidance on how this will work? I’m struggling with the requirements of having the install account be a Windows AD account to have the required SQL Server rights but also needing the install account to have local Admin rights on the Application and WFE servers. So if I start the install with the application server in the second DMZ, I would have an install account that is a DMZ 2 AD account so it can have local Admin rights, but when I run the installation, how would SQL Server living in the third DMZ be able to give it the appropriate server roles to run.
Thanks.

Hi All,
The company's security department requires SharePoint to be on non - system drive. Hence the question.
Q: Is it possible to install SharePoint 2013 on a non-system drive i.enot on C drive.?
After some research, I found that
Microsoft recommends to install on non-system drive.
Q: Will be any impact when we install third party add-ons in future whereC drive does not have SharePoint artifacts (Features, Template, etc)? I understand Search files have to be anyways should not be on C drive and can be moved. But confusion is about SharePoint default files such as features, controltemplate, template, masterpages etc can be installed not on C drive.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Sandy

None of the workflows are working.
I checked and found that the Workflow Backend Service is getting stopped again and again.

Starting last Wednesday after computers & servers received the latest updates from MS, we began to have problems opening Word 2010 & Excel 2010 documents from our SharePoint site (2013). The users would be asked multiple times to login but then the Word/Excel application would crash. After some analysis, we figured out that KB3055034 was the culprit so we have now had users remove that update and "hide" it so it won't be reinstalled. But this is just a Band-Aid.
I have found a few other posts on the Web detailing the exact problem and fix/Band-Aid but no one has a real answer yet about why this is happening and what MS will do to fix it.
Anyone here have any ideas about why this is happening and/or what should be my next steps? Thanks in advance. Carol.
Hello,
I'm facing an issue with public web site and umlauts in URL address.
Example:
Site I'm crawling http://www.examplesite.com.
Some page on site, which is not included in search index http://www.examplesite.com/liitä.
Error in ULS logs
CHttpAccessorHelper::InitRequestInternal - unexpected status (404) on request for 'http://www.examplesite.com/lii' Authentication 6. [httpacchelper.cxx:746] search\native\gather\protocols\http\httpacchelper.cxx
Actual problem is that SharePoint search crawler does not understand umlauts and request site with incorrent URL which leads to 404. Is there a workaround for this?
Finnish language pack is installed.
